Fowey Regatta

On your website, the property had a 5-star rating but could now do with some updating. Charlie was very welcoming and let us into the property early. Booking parking with the property is essential. The booking process was easy, but we should have been advised that building work was going on next door. Luckily, we are early risers, so it didn't really affect us. Fowey itself is a lovely village and had plenty going on as it was Regatta week.

Perfect location

Great house perfect location. Honestly this would be 5* if the cleanliness wasn't so bad. The fact it is still 4* shows how great the rest of it was

Don’t let the location & views overshadow everything else

The cottage itself was ok the cleanliness was not

The cottage was in a good location and only a few minutes walk into Hawes and yes the views from the back are amazing, unfortunately for me the cleanliness was not ideal, we slept in the back bedroom and on entering there were several cobwebs on the ceiling I opened up the bedside drawers to put my clothes in and was greeted by dust and hair's I took some photos just in case, so my first job was to get the hover out and clean everything up not what I wanted after a four hour drive to get there, I have stayed in many cottage’s over the years and though owners don’t have to supply anything the majority do, the advertised welcome pack consisted of some coffee and tea packs and some out of date biscoff’s very premier Inn not even a pint of milk, also most cottages these days have basic items, kitchen roll about three pieces left, a couple of toilet rolls for up to six people for a week, whoever maintains the cottage hadn’t even put a bin liner in the upstairs bathroom, it also stated that all rubbish was to be put in black bin bags and placed in the outside bin, there was no black bags and the bin was already over half full of rotting grass, I know some people will think this is trivial but when I have spent £1200 pounds for a week I don’t expect to have to clean up when I get there and have to go to the shops to buy black bags, kitchen roll, and hand soap which in the bathroom which was virtually empty, coupled with the bottom of the kitchen radiator clogged up with dust and what looked like dog hair was not great, again photos taken, it’s such a shame as the cottage has some good things going for it, but it’s not all about location and great views, unfortunately I won’t be returning.

Great App

The app was great for viewing final details of our cottage holiday including what to expect on our arrival day (such as the combination for the key cabinet).

Monastery Cottage, Reepham

We absolutely loved our stay at 1 Monastery Cottage. The owners have thought of everything to make it feel like a real home from home. The kitchen is small but lovely and incredibly well equipped — we’ve stayed in lots of holiday cottages where things have been missing, but here we found everything we could possibly need.

The cottage is tucked away on a lovely, quiet lane, but is just a short walk from Reepham, which is such a lovely Norfolk village with independent shops, cafés, pubs and plenty of character. It’s also in a fantastic location for exploring the wider Norfolk area, with the beautiful North Norfolk coast, Wells-next-the-Sea, Holkham, Blakeney, Wiveton and Brancaster all within easy reach, as well as Norwich and the Norfolk Broads.

Norfolk is a very special place for us, and we couldn’t have chosen a better base for our first family holiday exploring the area. 1 Monastery Cottage was the perfect place to come back to after busy days out, and we would absolutely love to stay again!
