Well appointed accommodation located in beautiful surroundings.

Booked the property for the games room, however on arrival the table was broken beyond repair and the only pool cue was cracked and unusable.

We had a pleasant stay overall. The location and grounds are excellent, the apartment is a good size for a family, and having two dedicated parking spaces was very useful.

Whilst we enjoyed our stay and the apartment provided a good base for exploring the local area, there were a number of maintenance and housekeeping issues that meant the accommodation did not quite live up to expectations. We have provided detailed feedback directly to both the owner and Holidaycottages.co.uk, and these are all matters that should be straightforward to address.

Overall, a good property in a great location that could be improved with a little more attention to detail. Despite these shortcomings, we had a good holiday and the location and grounds remain the property's biggest strength.

Luxury holiday home with excellent view

The size, condition and quality of the property was excellent. Ideally located for The Rolls of Monmouth golf course, Rockfields Studios and Monmouth.

Not as advertised! Agent needs to check on properties more regularly, not just when they are signed up with them and most definitely when a customer makes comments about needing serious TLC, deep cleaning and refurbishing in their review, one year previous. In this case, the agent must have visited the estate recently to add the most recent property on site, so could easily have checked the other properties while there. I won't be booking with this agent again.

The house we stayed in was perfect - clean and well-equipped with extra thoughtful touches. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and we hope to be back in the future.

A lovely cottage in a good location, very quiet and peaceful. Well equipped and clean, the bed especially was very comfortable, and a nice bathroom. The lounge sofa is rather uncomfortable though. Nicely modernised and fitted out, and the lovely welcome pack of goodies well appreciated and also a good book of information and instructions. Overall very nice and roomy cottage, recommended.

The cottage is well equipped, good sized rooms. Good garden.

Great value for money and very well situated. Perfect for people without a car as the train station is a very short walk away.

We had a wonderful stay at this holiday apartment and loved every minute. The place was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The location is fantastic close to local shops, great restaurants and the ferry. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touch of tea and milk waiting for us upon arrival. It is very obvious that this is a well cared for and loved holiday home.Thank you for a wonderful stay! We hope to come back again.

Was a wonderful stay. Everything was within a walking distance, city centre and groceries, and the property was so clean and well maintained.

We had a fantastic stay at this holiday cottage in Brixham. The property was exactly as described and was of a very high standard. Having visited Brixham four times over the last three years, we can honestly say this was the best place we have stayed.

The location was excellent and made a great base for exploring Brixham and the surrounding area. It was an easy walk into town, and from there we could also catch buses to nearby places.

Parking was much easier than we expected. With the neighbouring houses frequently moving their cars, we always found it easy to get a space nearby, and on several occasions were able to park right outside the cottage.

There is also a lovely local pub, the Queen Arms, just nearby, with very friendly staff and welcoming locals.

Communication with the owners was excellent throughout, which made the whole stay even more enjoyable.

We would definitely stay here again and, when we return to Brixham, this will be the first place we check for availability. Highly recommended!

We stayed at what was advertised as a luxury property in Cornwall, but unfortunately, both the standard of the accommodation and the service from the house manager, Chloe, fell far short of what we expected.

Firstly, we had considerable difficulty finding the property. When we called Chloe for assistance, she said she had no idea where we were and was unable to provide any useful guidance. We were essentially left to figure it out ourselves.

When we eventually arrived, after the advertised check-in time, the cleaners were still at the property, along with some children. We were told they were short-staffed due to a sickness bug going around and that the house was therefore not fully ready. While we appreciated that staffing issues can happen, this was not a great first impression and should have been communicated to us beforehand.

The annex room had no Wi-Fi whatsoever and, more importantly, no mobile network signal either. The property was advertised as having intermittent Wi-Fi, which is very different from having no Wi-Fi or mobile reception at all. The room was also not particularly clean, with cobwebs throughout the property.

The description of the bedrooms was also misleading. The property was advertised as having en-suite facilities, but two of the upstairs bedrooms did not have en-suites. Instead, they shared one shower room and one bathroom.

The garden was another major issue, particularly as we were travelling with dogs. It was advertised as being suitable for dogs, but the garden was not enclosed and was not safe for them. We had to ask for a barrier to be put up to prevent the dogs from getting through the gate and onto the road. Some chicken wire had been placed on the lower part of the gate, presumably following requests from previous guests, but this is not an appropriate or safe solution and could potentially cause injury to dogs.

The dishwasher also stopped working during our stay. The person who came to deal with the garden gate looked at it and advised that the house manager would need to arrange for an electrician to attend. This never happened. With 10 people staying at the property, having to hand-wash everything for the remainder of our stay was extremely inconvenient.

Unfortunately, Chloe was of very little help throughout our stay. We repeatedly had to chase her for updates, and the only response we consistently received was that she would speak to the owner. There was very little communication, follow-up or evidence that the issues were actually being dealt with.

Overall, we were extremely disappointed. For a property advertised and priced as a luxury accommodation, the level of cleanliness, facilities, accuracy of the description and, particularly, the standard of customer service were nowhere near what we expected.

Sadly, we cannot recommend this accommodation. Considering the amount of money paid, we expected a much higher standard of both the property and the service, and unfortunately, neither was delivered.

From the time we got there we were very relaxed in a real tranquil setting, the fasciitis at the lodge were second to none would definitely recommend.

Very peacefully located cottage. Clean, comfortable. Lovely secure garden. On the doorstep lake walks and village shop and pub.
