company promises no use at all...

company promises no use at all.... advertising free lifetime storage then pulling the free storage with a paid for service without any consultation.
thank god i only wasted £100 on this pile of junk.
no one will even buy it second hand now so it is going in the bin.

Y-SCAM

Y-SCAM - AVOID!
Cameras come with a 7day cloud storage for life. This is now stopped, so you end up with a camera that no longer works, no records allowed unless you pay a monthly fee for a camera costing over £100!
So it becomes an expensive paperweight.
Just over year on, Y-cam have changed their minds and have imposed unilateral changes to 'their' T&Cs offering essentially one of two options

If an option for 0 stars was available I'd select that.

Great product - let down by the support

I purchased an outdoor camera for security - a doddle to set up & works a treat!
However, I recently heard that Y-cam intend to start charging for the recordings.
I e mailed Y-cam to seek clarification on my CCTV for life recording - they have just totally ignored me.
However I took it up with Amazon today who I purchased this from. I'd bought a system with 'for life 7 day recordings' from & they offered me an unconditional 100% money back offer, free return postage & a returns label.
If others have purchased from Amazon, it appears that you have the option to return it for a refund & then buy yourself an alternative system. You can't ask for more than this.
It's a real shame as I was very happy with the product but as I'm intending to increase CCTV by a further 3 cameras I don't want to be buying something with additional costs per month per camera.
So...looks like it's back to the drawing board.

I am just ensuring we keep the updates …

I am just ensuring we keep the updates going re Y-Cam a company who are not interested in legalities or in protecting their word or previous commitments to their customers. Sadly, having reversed their policy on free storage for life the camera I have is about as useful as a chocolate fire guard or a hanbrake in a canoe. They never respond to complaints and as such dear buyer please do seek other suppliers and do not give these Charleston’s any more money. Spread the word and ensure as many people know about their shoddy business practices. Be warned, spending money here is the worst thing you can do unless you need a hand rake for your canoe. Look at the hundreds of reviews! I suspect they will eventually go under or change their name but rest assured I wil track them and post accordingly!

Y-SCAM - AVOID!

Y-SCAM - AVOID AVOID AVOID!
I invested in this Y-cam system just over a year ago based on their advertised one off upfront cost for the equipment and free 7day cloud storage for life.
Just over year on, Y-cam have changed their minds and have imposed unilateral changes to 'their' T&Cs offering essentially one of two options
1. Start paying them money for a subscription.
2. Don't pay them and they turn off the cloud storage leaving your system useless.
Y-cam try and justify their costs as being competitive bit miss the point that many of their existing customers (as did I) bought on the basis of their advertised pledge of 'no hidden fees, no contracts with small print, no hassle'.
If an option for 0 stars was available I'd select that.

I brought three of these cameras to check on my dogs

I brought three of these cameras to keep an eye on my dog, the deal was free 7 day storage for life, now they want to charge, not only is that appalling I no longer trust them and will never buy one of their products again or their security system which I had intended to buy, dont buy from them or any of their products, I hope they go bust

Great product, a few problems along the way

My first camera proved faulty. Home Monitor offered a replacement without questioning and confirmed there was a hardware fault.
Since then the service has been good - though I did have one problem with the camera following a power cut. I had problems getting the camera online again but it worked well for a short time before failing.
HomeMonitor provided great support and when we confirmed the issue replaced the camera even though it had been more than a year since I bought it.

Too unstable to be security - Alt for ustabilt for at være sikkerhed.

Nedenstående anmeldelse skrives med vilje kun på engelsk.

UPDATE BELOW.

I have bought HomeMonitor for a year ago and i am having a lot of trouble with it.
The nice people at HomeMonitor is trying very hard to help, but the result is that the camera works for a short period and then stops. And it has been that way from the start.
Either the camera loses the connection or it does not start when triggered. Both cases is bad for security.

All my other wifi gear is working perfect. PC, Mac, Ipad, Smartphones, SetTopBox (TV), SONOS (Streaming music). Think i have 10 units, that all works fine. But not the HomeMonitor camera. (Of course i am not using all at the same time :-) )
I have a stable internet-connection with 10 mb download and 2 mb upload.

Every time i have contacted HomeMonitor they ask a lot of tecnical questions and want me to mail them settings of router and things like that.
Then they want me to alter the setup, change channels and keys and that stuff. Every time it is the same. Works for er period and then stops.

The HomeMonitor camera is sold under the slogan:
"Quick and Easy setup with no technical expertise required."
That does not seem to be the case.

The concept is brilliant. And when it is working it could not be better. But i want to rest assured, that the camera picks up EVERY event. Not just now end then.

I have to day asked HomeMonitor to find a permanent solution for me.

UPDATE june the 6.:

To prevent all talk about wifi-settings i have connected the camera directly to the router. The camera is still unstable. My internet is stable around 13 mb down and 2 mb up.
I have today several movieclips from 2 to 9 seconds.
And one of them was triggered by my self. The clip stopped after 2 seconds, just before something happend. That is useless.
I have of course saved the clips if they want them.

Homemonitor have may the 29. offered me a replacement camera, but want me to send the defective camera to them and then they will send a replacement to me. They have all the information about the camera.
That is not the way to do it. I dont like to be whit out protection for a longer time. So if they want to sell security, the solution must be secure.

NEW UPDATE:

The camera is still unstable. I have tried to get alerts, both mail and push-message, but only some of them arrives.
I can se, that some videoclips are recorded so the connection is OK. But the messages are not comming. And the receiving phone is at the same spot under the tests. And that is tests over several days. I have tried to send only mail, only push and both. Same result. It is as if there must be some time between the messages. More than one hour. And that is not OK.

I would hate to rely on HomeMonitor as security/alarmsystem.

Best regards
Poul Erik
