I’ve just switch over to British Gas thinking I had signed up for a EV Tariff. I’ve called today because I have just back off holiday and was informed I’m not on an EV tariff and that I have to wait a month before I can apply for a smart meter I have also missed the cooling off period by 1 day so now I am going to have to pay £150 exit fee, I thought it was £75 for both however Fuse it’s still cheaper than British Gas even with exit fees DO NOT LET BRITISH GAS mislead when looking for a switch… call centres abroad and not much help either Absolutely outrageous

Terrible experience, ridiculously high bills because I couldn’t afford to pay the full amount on a certain date I rang and it was confirmed I could pay the rest on my next pay day , but before this happened I was sent a letter about debt collection 🙈 I put in a complaint but heard nothing of course

Our boiler and central heating system has been a challenge to correct due to historical issues, nothing to do with British Gas. The various engineers who have visited, being representatives of the company, have all been professional, knowledgeable, personable and concerned for us as customers to receive a first class service. They have been supported in doing so by a management with the customer as priority and all in all British Gas have been everything we could hope for in providing customer care.

Electrician came to do a bonding job. They were supposed to carry out bonding, fit an electric mirror, niche light moved, toggle added. I asked the electrician (Chris) to fit the mirror when he came in he flat out refused saying he wasn’t doing the job before main priced bonding was done. He made excuse of there being tiles which I said he could lift. He said he couldn’t do as don’t lift tiles. I asked if mirror could be put up flat out refused along with niche and toggle. Instead unknown to us he started to work on shower wire putting a box over it, an unrelated job, it was already made safe with caps from prior electrician. He cut the earth wire leaving it exposed which fell behind tile. They (Chris and Apprentice) left after an hour stating job could not be done. Chris also had advised that his friend could fit an electric shower. The friends charge was £140 expenses to travel from Blairgowrie to Fife return plus the cost of fitting the electric shower since British Gas do not fit electric showers. Absolute chancers. Steer clear and go with Scottish Power. Logged complaint operator then said she had done a system refresh and lost complaint number and is going to phone back with the complaints reference number. We will await and see.
Engineer was quite professional. Explained things step by step. I felt quite reassured.

I’ve been a customer of British Gas for over thirty years and have never had a need to complain , the service provided is second to none and I’d recommend British Gas because they’re reliable and I trust the quality of the service as well as the engineers . 10/10 from me.
