HSBC SG very poor customer service
Both my wife and I are having repeated problems with HSBC Singapore ( France is no problem ) . From simply wanting to change address online ( which takes 3 days to do) and which has not been done , to not getting a new debit card delivered after a month. Their chatbot is a laugh , and customer service online inefficiant and communication with branches almost inexistant . Add to this the shutdown of Branches , the removal of ATMS , HSBC no longer gives a good service to its customers
Deserves zero rating not even 1 star.
Deserves zero rating not even 1 star.
Zero observance of basic business and professionalism bordering on criminal.
No follow up despite reminders for a month, complete waste of customers time
Absolute disgrace
Absolute disgrace.
Had a last instalment (personal loan) payment due and bank statement was queried and checked via a call to the bank, asking for the exact amount as my final payment. That should close the loop and wrap up the loan account.
Payment was made promptly, with transfer statement and SMS acknowledgment to me.
The whole thing turned sour thereafter:
Received a rude call from their “debt collector” three days later, demanding for $80 fee (without explaining what this is for).
Ended up having to make more calls to clarify the matter - had to pay a few dollars on top of what was clarified as advised by their own officer (before final payment).
Not to mention debt collection insisted on the payment without any clear explanation given, while disregarding my concern. In fact, their claim of representing “hsbc” is only via my own submission of my info over the phone. Never did they use “hsbc”, just debt collection department.
Wasted more time in calling hsbc directly via their main line, to discover a $2 outstanding. Still no clue how this amount came to be; no explanation; call was logged previously but they have no access to verify my claims that the exact final payment amount was advised by hsbc. What a farce
Inefficiency at it's max
It took more than a month to open an everyday global account and more than two to three weeks for a replacement debit card. Called them /chatted with them almost daily to chase them as I needed to fly off to Canada. Customer service wa so poor that they just kept telling me things a simple chatbot can tell me "10-14 days" to get the card but it has been three weeks and counting no card. Looks like I'll have to fly orf without the debit card. I'm ashamed to say that despite being Singaporean, hsbc canada is so so so much more efficient.
HSBC's Systems are hopeless
I absolutely hate having to deal with HSBC. They are so much more difficult to deal with than any of the other banks I use.
Their chatbot is a joke. For a large multinational bank their online systems are totally dysfunctional and not fit for purpose.
Poor customer service (HSBC Singapore)
I wanted to apply for instalment plan so I sent sms them twice and no return calls even after a few days. Contacted them thru their hotline, staffs in-charge are either unavailable and/or always in a meeting. Promised me to call back in 2 hours tume and as expected they didn’t call me back. Contacted them again in same day and promised me to call back again in 2 or 3 days time. Again no calls from them. 10 days had passed and my request still haven’t processed and I’m still waiting…
I was served by staff, Mr Afif
I was served by staff, Mr Afif, on 28th Feb 2023. Mr Afif was a super nice staff who helped me patiently by guiding me step by step on the phone on how to go about using the online banking. This pleasant experience has made online banking much easier now. Big thank you to Mr Afif. Keep up the good work!
I’ve been here before but my experience…
I’ve been here before but my experience with this alleged bank has been so atrocious that I must add another review. It goes without saying that I’d rate for ‘0’ stars if I could. I’ve been waiting for over 3 months to get a credit card and every time I ask for a status update I get told they’ll revert within 3-5 business days and they never do, I follow up and ask for a manager and the so-called manager says the same thing. No-one takes any responsibility, no-one cares, no-one replies - I’d recommend avoiding this bank at all costs if it’s service you want. I will be closing my account with them but that will be a drama too no doubt but they won’t care.

I really wish i could give 0 stars i really do. i have written up some negative feedback in my time, but this one is going to be one of the worst. HSBC Singapore really REALLY need to get their act together. their "premier" service sucks. i cant even get past phone verification despite being told twice its my phone number which does not work. now i have to setup an egiro manually, then run a transaction verification, only for a screen to appear after telling me this service is unavailable, please try later. i tried 2 hours later and still the same error. But its ok, because customer service told me there is no problem with the portal. then coming back to me 30 minutes later telling me there is a problem with the portal. I am going to be changing banks today over to UBS. HSBC are shockingly inept!
time to move banks
time to move banks, they have cut costs so drastically that as a premier customer you get no service at all, call waiting is regularly 30 minutes, as a bank they are utterly inflexible.........i'm moving after 25 years........
I am a Premier / Jade customer and HSBC…
I am a Premier / Jade customer and HSBC SG does not have its customer's best interest in mind.
The way I was treated recently is unacceptable; I will be changing to another bank soon.
Terrible service and hopeless efficiency
Fully repaid my loan (including early termination charges). Now after 20 months, HSBC tells me that I have outstanding loan instalment. I have the bank statement from last year that stated the loan had been fully repaid. Yet collection dept persist on calling and texting me. I submitted the matter to FidRec for resolution, customer relations dept acknowledge through email and will update me. However, collection dept called me again and asked for the case reference number. They claimed they are not aware and are unbale to retrieve the case. It is really unbelievable, same bank but collection dept cannot finf out what customer relations dept is doing.
I have been using the HSBC credit card for years now and has always been up to date with payment and now they suspend my card even because of unpaid loan instalment even though my case is pending investigation by FidRec. What a horrendous way to treat a regular customer. So I have stopped using the credit card although it is my 'go to' card. Might as well switch to other bank's credit card.

Completely unacceptable service from Hsbc Rhyl when I attended to sort out a is a transfer person who i dealt with needs to retrained on customer service I will be moving elsewhere after 30 years loyal customer
The most untrustworthy bank in the World
Even after you leave HSBC they will not refund your money. Closed all our accounts in February and unfortunately money was refunded to our credit card after the closure. Do HSBC bounce it, so we can get it repaid to another account? No they keep the money in a closed account which for someone no longer a customer of HSBC it is almost impossible to contact them and recover. We left due to the poor service and undealt with complaints. HSBC will always keep your money to the absolute legal limit that they can squeeze. Hours on the phone to get any response. Seriously Trust pilot should introduce a no star (NIL POIS) grade for companies this bad. As so many others have commented HSBC don't deserve a single star!
They are a cheating bank with their…
They are a cheating bank with their credit card program, where they hide all their fees in their fine print (knowing nobody reads them), so do not fall for their trap. To cancel the credit card they make it more difficult and make you go to a branch instead of online (application was online). If you like to be cheated and your money be stolen go for HSBC…
I swear this is true
Honestly, nightmare times two. On the promise of £200 I tried to transfer my millions to a new HSBC. bank account. The transfer was a mess of failures and after a week or so I contacted them to tell them I wanted to cancel. The little girl on the phone told me I couldn't, I told her I could. Passed to supervisor and after some dialogue and an apology he agreed to cancel. At this stage I had already received a credit card which I decided to retain, interest free money after all. However an interest payment has appeared on my last, don't know why, nor do I care. Time to pay off my balance and cancel card, easy you would think.
Long and the short of it could not access my account on internet, needed a special keycard. Wait for that to arrive, ten days or so. Nightmare, five levels of security to go through, three of which were number generation by text, by me and by the keycard. In addition to the normal account code name and secret password.
It's easier to get into Fort Knox.
Probably me, but still I could not access my whole 2K account.
Called HSBC to make payment over the phone, no you can't, you have to go to your bank and get them to do the transfer, God please no ... Phoned again to see if they could give me access to " My " account. Assistant did not know, passed to more senior officer. No help at all, as by this time my Magic key was locked.
Not a thing she could do at her end, will send you another Magic key😨 No, no, no was the cry I have lost enough of my short remaining time on this earth.
Looks like a trip to my nearest " current bank ", 60+ miles round trip at 29mpg. So what's that about £12. An absolute nightmare, and as I said, this is the shortened version. No complaint about the nice people I spoke to, they did their best I'm sure but you can't buck the system when the computer it says NO.
Really terrible website
Really terrible website for both signing up and configuring the card. It registers as duplicate log-ins and locks you out.
Unbelievable slow telephone customer…
Unbelievable slow telephone customer service! I have been on the phone for 2 hours and still no answer and that’s not the first time. Can’t do the online chat either as I am waiting still for an answer 40mins i to my conversation! What has happened. I am considering changing banks.. you can not talget hold them at all! Crazy and very poor!!!
The absolute worst bank and customer service
The absolute worst bank and customer service I have ever experienced. Charging random cash advance fees and dynamic currency conversion fees, with vendors that I have used before and no other bank has ever charged me such fees for. Charging me interest for outstanding balances when my balance is always paid off well within the monthly payment deadline. Tried to contact customer service via securemail, chat function, call centre, and email – securemail and mail never get a response, chat function takes three hours to respond and have incompetent untrained reps who provide generic answers that aren’t helpful, call centre similarly know nothing and can’t action anything. Refund finally agreed, and was promised to be in my account within 3-5 working days, and still haven’t appeared after a month. Disgraceful and disgusting how a large bank can treat their customers with no respect and get away with it.
Nightmare from HSBC Singapore!!
Worst ever experience personally!!…zero customer service from call agents to managers and filled with lies and deception at all levels!…So much to say in negativity that is shameful to even write…so you get my point.. I can’t agree more from reading all these genuine negative reviews!…severing my sour relationship with this HSBC Singapore bank once and forever for good..and warn others think before opening any sort of account and including using their credit cards!! No Stars rating as it’s not applicable :((
