Extremely disappointing and poorly handled experience.
We were asked to provide an excessive amount of personal and financial information, including full credit reports and bank statements, before the landlord had even agreed to proceed. We then paid a security deposit and signed a tenancy agreement, were given a move-in date and key collection plan, and were led to believe the tenancy was effectively progressing as normal.
Only after all of this did the agent state that the landlord was “not comfortable” due to our credit scores, despite explanations having been provided upfront and references, affordability, employment and rent history all being satisfactory. This should have been identified far earlier in the process, before taking deposits and issuing legal documents.
The referencing process felt disorganised and inconsistent, with missing documents only being flagged very late, and checks seemingly carried out after key commitments had already been made. It caused unnecessary stress and wasted a significant amount of time at a very sensitive point in the moving process.
While deposits are now being returned, this experience lacked professionalism, transparency and proper sequencing. I would not recommend this agency to prospective tenants and would urge others to be cautious about proceeding before landlord approval is clearly confirmed.
