    Not a fan of pink tax

    The ironing itself was perfectly fine, clothes came back well pressed and on time. No issue with the quality of the service.

    My issue is the pricing. Women’s shirts are charged at £4.15 versus £2.90 for men’s shirts, close to a 50% markup. I completely understand charging more where extra manual work is genuinely required, for example blouses with complex tailoring, delicate fabric, pleats, embellishment, or shapes that cannot be machine pressed efficiently.

    What I do not understand is charging more simply because a shirt is marketed as women’s clothing.

    I specifically asked this question when placing my order and did not receive a response. I then followed up by email asking whether the higher charge depends on the actual garment construction, or whether all women’s shirts are automatically charged more. The reply simply repeated the website wording that women’s shirts often require more manual finishing. I asked again, clarifying that I wanted to know whether the £4.15 fee is applied regardless of the actual cut and complexity of the garment. I have not received a clear answer.

    I was charged the higher rate on all women’s shirts, so I can only assume it is a blanket policy. That feels like a pink tax, and I am tired of paying more simply for buying women’s clothing, especially when some of my shirts are simpler to iron than my husband’s.

    Some people may not mind this, but I do. Because of that, I won’t be returning.

    To clarify, men’s shirts are typically processed using a specialist shirt press (shirt plant), which allows them to be finished efficiently and at a lower cost. Women’s shirts, however, generally cannot be processed using this equipment due to differences in cut, shape, and structure. As a result, they require more manual pressing and finishing, which is why they are priced differently.

    Our intention is never to charge more simply because a garment is labelled as “women’s.” Any price difference should reflect the additional manual work involved, not the category alone. If a shirt can be used on the shirt plant without any extra manual work, it would be priced as a normal shirt.

    We also apologise that your questions weren’t answered clearly. That’s not the level of service we aim to provide. We’ve requested further information from you so we can review your specific order in detail, and escalate internally so it doesn't happen again.

    I only use the ironing service

    I only use the ironing service, but it’s really excellent. Everything comes back exactly how I’d do it myself - only much better, and without the effort! An accessible and user-friendly service.

    Great job!

    As per usual I had forgotten to send suits to dry cleaner ahead of another busy week. After a quick scroll online I found Ihateironing.com.

    The app was slick, and suits were picked up an hour after request was submitted - they were returned under 24 hours later in great condition.

    I would highly reccomend this service!

    This service is impeccable

    This service is impeccable. Washing is returned clean,fresh-smelling, neatly folded, carefully packed with lining of tissue paper on top and bottom of the laundry. The drivers arrive promptly, the app is easy to use. The costs are very reasonable for the level of service provided. Highly recommend using this company.

    dissapointing second service

    First time all ok. So I sent more shirts, second time came in 2 batches, half smelling like a pool and with broken buttons coming off etc.

    Support said heres 10 quid on your next order, now they are not responding

    Don't know what has changed but it's not good

    This used to be a brilliant company which would pick up your clothes, wash them and bring them back within 24 hours, with no fuss.

    That was until a few weeks ago, when I got a confusing email saying one of my dresses couldn't be washed normally and would have to be dry cleaned. It was a basic, no-frills polyester dress from a high street retailer with no cleaning instructions on the label other than the most basic normal stuff.

    When they returned the dress uncleaned because I hadn't authorised dry cleaning, I put it down to some kind of admin error and thought, oh well, happens to the best of us, right?

    But since then EVERY TIME I have sent things to be cleaned, I have received emails about the most ridiculous items, saying they won't clean them normally and want to dry clean them instead. If I say I'll take responsibility for any damage that might occur, they say they still won't do it and will have to return the items uncleaned.

    And this is for items which, for almost a full year up to this point, they have been washing and returning fortnightly with no problem.

    I don't know if they're under new management or what's been happening, but it's not good. If you filter by 1-star reviews you'll see several of them are recent and saying the same thing.

    The other day they tried to take payment for a full wash plus two dry cleaned dresses even though (a) I hadn't authorised it and (b) I'd already paid for the full wash. I complained and they are now returning the dresses unclean.

    I am disabled and have relied on this service because I am not able to do my own laundry. Now I'm going to have to find a different company to do it. This is a great shame because they were so good before that I've recommended them to loads of people, and now I wish I hadn't :(

    Superb specialised cleaning

    Everything from the booking, pickup, cleaning and delivery (even in specialised coat bags!) was superb. I dont think my cream coat has ever looked so good. Will definitely use again for specialised cleaning needs.
