They never ever pick up the phone.
Call waiting times have always been 40 mins +
They have no branches.
So yes, its a good online portal, but wait till you have a problem!

stupid security

stupid security, too many password, internet banking... and yet very insecure bank, this means this company it is not doing enough to protect their users at the same time asking for many useless passwords.

I just talked to the customer service…

I just talked to the customer service agent. It's incredible how little patience Germans have and how rude they are to me because I'm not a native German speaker. Ing Diba needs to give training to their German agents about how to be nice and professional. Whether I am German or non-German, I'm a customer. But I don't think that German customer service agents will ever change. They are the same everywhere. And now that they work in home office, they can just talk anyhow they want. Unfortunately, changing a bank will not do much as this is a general problem when customer service agents are Germans.

Horrible bank / Discriminatory…

Horrible bank / Discriminatory behaviour

Discriminatory behaviour. Horrible costumer service. When they don't want to answer anymore they just argue they do not have support in English, even though they were able to understand all the discussion until that point.

Keep away special if you are not German!!!

PS: This was the response I got when I asked to close my daughters account after they were not able to help me:
“ Unfortunately, we do not offer any English consulting and conversation. For further information about your ING mortgages please contact your financial consultant or try to hold the conversation in German”. Noting again that until this point they were able to understand me in English even though they answered in German

Exceeds customer's expectations :)

After 6 months ING decided w/o any explanations to close my account and all related services , out of the blue. Indeed, very easy and free of charge to open an account BUT they can also close it as they wish and when they wish saying nothing ,but a vague article which can mean so many things. VERY unpleasant situation since you approved some automatic payments to kindergarden , sports clubs , invoices an so on.

Choose a different bank.

Do not recommend. I moved and was prompted when i logged on to update my address. I called customer service and updated it. I even entered my banking app to confirm it. Now some months down the line i tried to access my app without success. I try to log-in via the website and it doesnt work. Call the customer support where you have to access with your banking info and it doesnt work. I then call the bank via their telephone number for new potential customers and the not very nice lady informs me that my account has been closed because i didn't update my address. I told that lady that I had done exactly that months prior but to no avail. she basically said though S*** and that she can make a complaint in the system and that they will send me a letter where I can fill out a form as to where they can send the funds. its 2023 and they still use actual effing letters - what a joke. On top I have continuously informed other business partners that they should send payments to this account. Now I have no idea of knowing what transfers will bounce back to them and how to handle it. Very disappointed! Very upset! do not recommend this bank!

Not Expat Friendly; Highly Bureaucratic

I am an expat from the US and tried to open a checking account with ING but they declined me without any particular reasons. Instead of asking for further information from me like for my Employer/job/salary/etc. info (which is high paying), they just rejected my application and would not let me proceed further. Definitely not expat friendly with all the bureaucracy here.

One of the worst banks ever

One of the worst banks ever. I have been trying for 3 months to close my account but they constantly lose information, they never respond to emails and useless at helping with anything and are extremely unfriendly.

10 years ago they had a fantastic…

10 years ago they had a fantastic customer services. That is all long go. They say they answer phone calls 24 hours but they don t answer any phonecalls anymore. Not even during working days. If they pick up the phone you will have to wait for at least 35 minutes after 15 minutes talking to a machine that is design to waste your time and make you give up. Trying to write them an email is the same frustrating. They will take days to reply and when they do they will offer you a serie of links and texts that hardly answers your problems.
My experience traveling inside and outside the EU is that the account can be just blocked at any time and you will just be left alone without been able to acces your money and without the possibility to reach anybody.
I highly desrecomend this bank.

Not very reliable.

My account was cancelled without any reason being given. I know the bank has this right but I've bank in 5 countries and it has truly never happened to me.

There was no attempt from the bank's side to inquire about any possible issues they might have had.

Unreliable and conflicting information

I tried to open an account and I immediately closed it after a couple of attempts to contact costumer service. I first get an email that the account was rejected, then I get another email that the account was opened. Out of 3 emails only one was poorly answered with no follow up. I tried calling and it took me 1 hour to get in contact with them. No english. I don't recommend it, when choosing a bank to handle your money, at least make sure they are reacheable and have employees with a minimum of intelligence to speak English (this language is taught in every school in Germany). If you face any problem like you forget your login data, an unauthorized transaction or anything similar you will have many issues trying to solve this.

Don't even try to access your account

Really painful to access my own account. Internet PIN, mobile app PIN, BiDa key are different, you don't even know which one is currently asked. In order to sign in to your online banking you need to remember a 10 digit (!!!) account number AND 2 of the PINs. AND they send a list of TAN numbers per post that is needed sometimes. So, accessing your account just on the go is impossible. It is a pain. I wanted to buy investment funds with ING but after 20 minutes of struggling with the signing in, I just gave up. You mistype and you are blocked. OK. But to lift the blocking, you need to change all the above PIN codes but none of them can be the same of the last 3 in history, that is already 9 numbers to keep track of. Ridiculous. I rather don't buy anything with them

We need different PINs an numbers to make sure, nobody else has access to your accounts but of course, we optimize these processes right now from letters to one-time-passwords. And it get's easier: Once you installed your app on your phone, you can log-in with your mobilePIN or a face ID / touch ID. For our onlinebanking you can log-in with a qr log-in. I received a letter of termination…

I received a letter of termination without any reason. They give me two months to transfer my money to another account. Funny enough I was getting close to canceling my account anyway after trying to reach them for days. Their customer support is horrific. You may have to take a day off in order to get someone on the phone... I would stay away and stick with a bank that you can actually visit.

Cancellation without reason

The bank just send me letter of cancellation without any reason after more than 20 years with the bank. Giving me 2 months to transfer everything out with a clear statement that no extension will be granted. Called the bank, they don't know any details. Really frustrating experience and not a trustworthy business partner after all.

The waiting times on the telephone are…

The waiting times on the telephone are extremely long. I had to wait for almost 30 min to be connected with the representative only to be disconnected after 2 min because the connection was bad all of a sudden. They did not call me back.

It's ok sometimes

In the first place, I'm using this bank for some time now and I didn't have too many problems till the present. Of course, it's not the best provider in the world at all costs.

The home bank app blocks now and then, they're too spammy with their emails, and I won't even mention the commission. Yet, the customer service doesn't suck too much.
