So Far So Good
I recently had a booking cancelled by a landlord due to an overbooking issue (double booking on another platform). As a working student, this was initially a major concern due to the financial and logistical stress of finding a new place quickly.
However, I was impressed by how Inlife handled the situation. They were transparent about the landlord’s mistake and acted fast to fix it. Surprisingly, I received my full refund almost immediately, which is much faster than the standard 5-10 days usually expected from banks.
They also provided alternative options nearby and a promo code for the inconvenience, allowing my friend and I to secure new rooms without further delays. The resolution was efficient, professional, and honestly exceeded my expectations for this kind of situation.

Disappointing experience with Inlifehousing in Lisbon
I rented a room in Lisbon through Inlifehousing. The landlord was “Residencias Lisboa”, and unfortunately my experience was extremely stressful from the very first day.
On my first day in Portugal, I couldn’t enter the apartment because they gave me the wrong padlock. I had to wait outside for 2–3 hours until they provided the correct one. After entering, I discovered that the keys to my room were missing. I waited another 2 hours for someone to come and help me, but no one showed up. I ended up having to stay in a hotel that night. Thankfully, my father was still with me.
The next day, I noticed several issues in the room:
- The clothes rack was broken and fell on my leg when I tried to hang my clothes.
- The window blinds were not working.
- The toilet seat was cracked.
- The bed was extremely uncomfortable and caused back pain.
I contacted Inlifehousing and they managed to reach the landlord (who is very slow to respond). Some things were eventually fixed, but it took three weeks just to repair the clothes rack.
Later, when the weather became cold and rainy, mold started appearing in the room. The room was very small and cold, and it became uncomfortable to live there.
Very importantly: the room was located inside the kitchen area. This meant constant noise, smells from cooking, people coming and going, burping, and the washing machine running early in the morning. It was impossible to properly rest.
Also, regarding cleaning services: although it was stated that cleaning of common areas was included, in reality this was not properly provided.
After checkout, I left the room clean and in good condition. Normally, the deposit should be returned within one month. However, I had to wait an additional 16 days. When I contacted Inlifehousing about the delay, they did not respond despite 5–7 emails. Later, they told me it was “not their responsibility” and that it was between me and the landlord even though the landlord had blocked me.
When I finally received the deposit, €83 had been deducted without clear justification. I contacted Inlifehousing again, but they refused to assist.
The room cost €690 per month for a very small room (around 3–4m²) with a private bathroom, located inside a kitchen area. In my opinion, this price was extremely high for what was offered.
I came to Portugal to focus on my studies and build my career not to deal with housing disputes. I believe platforms offering student accommodation should ensure better standards, faster support, and clearer responsibility when issues arise.
Inlifehousing has potential, but customer service and landlord screening need significant improvement. Students should be very careful before booking

There is no organization at all
There is no organization at all, but they say something completely different in their policy when you make a booking — which results in them taking your money and leaving you stranded. They respond to emails very late, and their only goal seems to be to take your money without helping you get it back in case of a scam. You are basically left on your own, with no support whatsoever. Absolutely no organization or customer service.
I do not recommend it.

I strongly advise caution with InLife Housing. During my booking, additional fees were only revealed after the host had confirmed, leaving no option to reconsider without cancelling. Their platform effectively bypasses the consumer’s right of withdrawal, which is protected in Europe. Hidden costs and a misleading booking process make this service unreliable and untrustworthy.

UPDATE 27.05.25:
After contacting my university in Portugal and the portuguese consumer protection, I finally received another email from Inlife where they said that they return my booking fee as a „gesture of goodwill“.
So for anyone experiencing similiar issues, do not give up, try getting help from local authorities.
I still would not recommend under any circumstances to pay a booking fee to a housing platform, without demanding to see the contract and get information about the landlord first.
Original review:
Booking with Inlife was one of the worst decisions I’ve made as a student looking for housing abroad.
The platform completely misrepresented the apartment I booked. It was advertised as a three-bedroom flat, but only after paying did I learn it had five bedrooms – a big difference in privacy and living conditions. Shockingly, after I complained, Inlife quietly changed the listing to match the truth. That’s not just unprofessional – it’s deceptive.
Worse, the rental contract revealed mandatory fees, restrictions on overnight guests, and the worst: Video surveillance in shared spaces! None of which were disclosed during the booking process. These are serious privacy and cost issues that Inlife chose to hide until after they had my money.
I canceled within minutes of booking, but Inlife still refused to refund the €320 reservation fee, claiming their “internal process” had already started. In reality, they had provided zero actual service at that point. The landlord, whom they claimed was “verified and trustworthy,” turned out to have terrible reviews online – something I only discovered too late because they don’t disclose landlord identities until after payment.
Inlife’s conduct has been dishonest, opaque, and disrespectful. They profit from misleading international students who trust them based on university recommendations. I strongly urge others to stay away from this platform. You may end up paying hundreds of euros for a room you would never have booked if you’d had the full facts.

ChatGPT says "borderline exploitative"
You dont get to see the contract before you paid some fees and once you get it, its quite sketchy. Here is some of ChatGPT's output: This contract is stacked in the landlord’s favor, borderline exploitative in places
You're waiving legal protections by agreeing that this is not subject to any legal contractual type. That’s sketchy. You’re basically agreeing their rules trump Portuguese housing laws.
Daily late payment fines of €50, and after 10 days, you're locked out and the contract is terminated. That’s brutal.
Fines for things like noise, smoking, or littering are flat €100 – no warnings, just charges.
Keep or destroy your stuff if you don't vacate on time.
Security deposit of €350 can be partially or fully retained for vague reasons, including cleaning costs, "dirtiness on walls," or minor wear that they arbitrarily decide isn’t "normal."
€100 per hour fee if you don’t move out by 11am on checkout day. Yes, per hour
Beyond that if your not careful you might be in suprise of fee before you booking

Warning: Inlife Offers Zero Renter Protection
I had a terrible experience with Inlife and strongly advise others to be cautious when using this platform.
I booked an apartment through Inlife and paid a consequent security deposit plus a booking fee. Soon after, the landlord advised me to cancel the booking, misleading me into believing that my security deposit would be refunded. However, once I canceled, I was told that the deposit was transferred directly to the landlord—who refused to return it. Inlife completely washed their hands of the situation, leaving me with no protection despite their platform facilitating this process.
The worst part? This landlord is clearly using Inlife to lure people off the platform, then scam them by requesting additional payments via bank transfer. Inlife does nothing to prevent this, despite being aware of the issue. Their lack of oversight allows dishonest landlords to operate freely, putting renters at serious financial risk.
If you use Inlife, be extremely careful—you might find yourself paying hundreds of euros for nothing. Their so-called "secure process" offers zero protection, and once a landlord takes your money, Inlife will not help you get it back. Avoid this platform if you value transparency, renter protection, and fair treatment.

BEWARE! HIDDEN FEES AND ZERO RESPONSIBILTY!
BEWARE!
I booked a room through InLifeHousing and the owner was VIV Housing. First of all, beware that you have to pay and additional 250 euros for the administrative fees on top of the booking fee of InLife.
Secondly about VIV Housing:
They don't respect their customers. In our 4 months stay as students we had nothing but troubles.
Maintenance always going on, sometimes without prior notice, and can COMPLETLY disturb your everyday life and they don't take responsibility and blame it on the landlord.
We didn't have a toilet for 2 days and water was cut off for 2 days on another occasion for changing the boiler. Other important repair requests are left ignored, including the broken toilet lock.
You are going to be disturbed by many visits by strangers and your privacy is violated.
They have no respect for the tenants and no shame for their actions.
STAY AWAY AND SAVE YOURSELF!
