Many thanks to the Internal Revenue Service agents during this Income Tax season for the great help

During the Income tax peck season, I received great help in getting tax issues resolve. I thank the IRS agents and promise I would send in a review. I asked the agents their name as well as their badge number both were given. So, thank you agents for the great help that you provided to make my work a lot easier.
I am an accountant and I have owned my business for more than thirty years. I can't remember getting this type of service from the Internal Revenue Service:

IRS - Incompetent Revenue Service

I think it’s really funny that there’s a prompt here before I start typing that says “what went wrong this time?” Because I whole heartedly believe that sums up the IRS PERFECTLY, what went wrong this time?? I was on hold for more than 3 hours!! Trying to solve ONE problem, and as soon as someone answers, they hang up! They’re so quick to send me a bill of what I owe them but when I’m trying to solve a problem to get my returns they drag their fck ing feet. Fck this organization, if ANY US company operated the way the IRS did, they’d be bankrupt in a WEEK.

Irs reps suck

I have faxed my forms to the irs two times now in over 2 weeks. And I have called to check on the paperwork that was told would take 7 days which is a damn lie. I called today and waited an hour and 28 min and was trying to make an apt in an office to get this ein number for my mom's estate and her life insurance and this nasty lady told me I could Fax them directly to her if i was in front of a fax. I told her ill go right now its 5 min down the road and she said she cant wait on hold. I told her im not putting you on hold im going now. I asked questions and ask for her manager to delay and I literally pulled up to the store I was going to fax the forms at and told her im going inside and she straight says no your not and disconnected the call. How trashy of a human are you to do that. I called back and waited another hour and 20 min and this lady said she cant help me and transferred me to another line. I was alone hold and the call disconnected again. So now im on hold waited again for someone to hopefully help me get this done since this will be the 3rd time I faxed forms to this trash place.

Despicable unprofessional

Despicable unprofessional, rogue representatives. The matter of which tax papers are treated when contacting is agency is horrendous.

First and foremost the only way to can speak with someone is to chose an option that’s not even relevant to reason for your call. After waiting for over an hour to speak with someone regarding a 2021 amended return, I was told they couldn’t hear me clearly, once I adjusted the area I was in to be able to be heard clearly the individual asked how she can help me but never identified herself with her ID#. She appeared to be agitated because she couldn’t hear me very well at the start of the call.

After explains the reason for my call, with agitation ahead states, “I can’t help you I’ll have to transfer you” & immediately forwarded my call.

If anyone who is working & is unhappy with their current employment situation, please leave as soon as possible as I’m sure you nor the attitude will be missed.

!!!Taxpayers deserve better as just trying to speak with someone isn’t an easy task.

IRS - Ineffective And Inefficient

According to the IRS website, an appointment is required to visit a local office. When I call the appointment number at (844) 545-5640 and state that my issue is non-receipt of my 2024 refund, the automated system says to call back, as they are not accepting appointments for this type of request. Are you serious?

When I call the local number (954) 423-7300, I receive an automated message and am unable to speak with anyone as they don’t offer a caller the option to do so. What a joke!!

Local appointments should be given for any
issues, requests, or questions, regardless of the subject. In my 40+ years living in the USA, I have never witnessed an organization as ineffective and inefficient as the IRS. The IRS, including its phone system and customer service, needs to be completely overhauled by professionals who are not government employees.

If I could give zero stars, I would!!

Get it together IRS

I called the phone number 1-800-829-1040 I was on hold the first time for 42 minutes. Just to be put through to a person that could not help me. They sent me to another person which I waited on hold for for 45 minutes just to be hung up on. I tried to call back again and had to wait another 40 minutes just to be told you to call volume they could not accept my call at this time. This is absolutely ridiculous I filed my taxes the end of January and still have not received them. One W-2 one simple return, I cannot even get through to a person to find out what's going on because every time I get put on hold I get disconnected before I get to the next person. You guys seriously need to fix your system because this is ridiculous and I have never experienced such inability to handle a situation. Get it together IRS!!

The ID me verification system is a broken, stupid system that can't verify your identity even if you're yourself. They make you upload sensitive documents to prove that you're yourself to a third party system, when the IRS should be doing all this themselves. This government's a joke, this country is a joke. This President is a joke. All I need to do is change my routing number information because i entered it wrong. And you guys can't even verify that it's me when I'm sending multiple documents of sensitive information. F the IRS.

Exactly what I expected

Exactly what I expected. Can't reach an actual person with an unusual, unique problem. So over government companies not having to do their jobs. What a joke.

They make it impossible to use them for taxes

I decided to attempt to do my taxes on their site. I had some time, and figured it would only cost me time if I did my taxes directly. I have heard they make it intentionally complicated because of corporate lobbying, and after attempting my taxes, I fully believe they not only make it difficult but impossible for anyone who isn't already a tax attorney.
After 3 hours I found the instructions leave out key things needed, have bad/misleading instructions, and leave things partially stated so there is just no information about what to do.

IRS is Incompetent

Filed my 2025 return on 3/6/26 with no status in 6 weeks. Can't email, if you call, its entirely automated and if you try to speak with someone the call is disconnected.
Ive been unemployed for 9 months and need my refund to pay bills and purchase Rx medications (including insulin).
Don't see why I should lose my house, have my power shut off or die because I can't purchase medications. Are we permitted to charge daily interest for delays just as the IRS charges interest for delayed payments from people?

Pretending to work at your expense

10-15min queue wait, then the rep answers and sets me down for another 10 minutes without a word. I'm saying hello, can you hear me, and so on but they don't respond at all. They don't even bother muting themselves either, so you hear no work being done and the occasional clack of a keyboard. After about 10 minutes, I start asking what job they're actually doing if they've got me on hold like a d**khead, and they immediately hang up, proving they were listening all along. That's the kind of person that makes me wish The Purge was very real.

Wait times 2 plus hours

Wait times 2 plus hours, no real help available, one change is a wait of 4 to 12 weeks. Got disconnected after an hour on the phone just to start over again. I have logged dates, video record of calls for a running time stamp of how long it takes to get a person on the line, have names and badge numbers for each call. If I owe money I am subjected to huge penalties and interest but if the IRS owes me money I have to wait 4 to 12 weeks. The website is a mess and consistently incorrect. Payments received not showing. Believe it or not married filing jointly causes huge problems when owing because the IRS will put one spouse as Primary one year and the next year the Spouse is Primary. So you have this Primary and Secondary going per the IRS for yearly filings that does not combine as jointly when making payments. It's a huge mess on the taxpayer. Every year my husband is the taxpayer and every year I am the spouse but the IRS gets it twisted to make it difficult in payments received. I cannot believe as a tax payer that my paid taxes fund such an incompetent federal government agency. The IRS representatives are no help and give you non-sense information to get you off the phone. The can I put you on a brief hold for 5 to 7 minutes all thru our the call is a waste of time. Filed a Form911 for a tax advocate...another 30 day wait just to see if they will respond and it's up to their discretion to even help you. Not even an automated response that your form has been received. Just wait the 30 days before you call. The hardship in wait times, lack of knowledge in helping the tax payer and the weeks on end in hopes of a remedy is disgusting. Treasury Dept website is down so no complaints can be filed and they do not answer the phone as well. I am so sick and tired of federal government offices. Social security is just as messy. They want people to give up. I refuse. I'll call every day if I have to too. Fix it!!! Better yet...I hope Trump fires them all!!!!!!
