Paper-thin materials, wildly inflated costs, and a £30 penalty just to return it back to LA. This isn’t premium — it’s pure hype dressed up as luxury. I fell for it. Don’t make the same mistake.

Company would stand up to quality of products

I bought Plaid Line Performance jacket 1 year ago for $650. The seem blew out under the armpit and the company would not replace the jacket or fix. Basically it would not stand up to the fact that their product should last longer than 1 year. Terrible commitment.

Great looking, poor quality, WORST customer service

I've been a big fan and loyal purchaser for years. Literally have spent in excess of $5000 over the past few years. I had purchased a pair of the lightweight linen pants, which look great, however, they are very poor quality and after having worn them about 3 times, they developed no less than 4 tears along the seam of the waistband. I brought this to customer service's attention and I was brushed off immediately saying there is no quality defect reported and since its beyond 30 days, there is no remedy. Absolutely terrible customer service and really poor quality. Spend money elsewhere on a company that is more concerned about quality and a satisfied customer, rather than profits only

I purchased a t shirt from James Perse…

I purchased a t shirt from James Perse and unfortunately Fed Ex lost my package . While Fed Ex tried to locate and was unable James Perse took over a week to refund my money. I received a check from Fed Ex for 100.00 that i thought was for myself due to their mistake . The check was made out to James Perse and i was unable to cash. Spoke to manager at James Perse and they said check was mistakenly sent to me and that they received the 100.00 . How in the world can James Perse be compensated and not myself due to Fed Ex mistake? Customer service w James Perse is very poor. Signed a customer who’s purchased many items from you guys .

I have had nothing but amazing

I have had nothing but amazing, helpful and professional experience from the James Perse at the Oakville location. Jackson, Min and Christina are amazing to deal with. So kind, and they provide suggestions and their follow through is impeccable.
I drive from Toronto to Oakville specifically for their service and approach to great customer service. Thank you! I shall return.

Terrible customer experience

I’ve been a loyal customer of this brand for nearly 20 years but won’t be shopping with them again. I returned an item that was never worn and they claimed it was returned damaged so sent it back to me without notification. I spoke with a customer service agent and she was not helpful only insisted their quality team rejected the item and there was nothing i could do. On the same order the wide leg sweatpants had one leg shorter than the other which I discovered after washing them as recommended before wearing. I used to be able to count on this brand for quality pieces but not any more.

Horrific customer service

Horrific customer service. They sent me partially unsewn pants. Not responsive. Ultimately, I get an email, that, as a one time ACCOMMODATION, they will accept the return of their faulty pants…..and, that to make sure this doesn’t happen again, I should go to a James perse store to try on their clothing before I buy it!

I would rate James Perse customer service a 0

I would rate James Perse customer service a 0 if I could! Purchased a sweat shirt, wore it once and got a small stain on the front, decided to spot clean it and when I did the color completely washed off and all I used was a gentle soap! They would not stand behind their product! After many attempts they let me return it for a gift card which came in several emails split up in amounts ultimately not what I paid for. I also returned a 2 T-shirts that did not fit and requested my money back but they mixed those up and made some strange amount deductions leaving me with less then I paid for everything! All in all the customer service accusatory and disrespectful! Buyer Beware steer clear of James Perse the product is high priced and not worth it!

I bought an expensive puffer from this…

I bought an expensive puffer from this brand and i couldn’t expect it to be such a bad quality. The feather from the coat is left on my sweaters and t-shirt I wear under the coat. I have to carry lint roller with myself at all time to clean up my clothes, otherwise I look like a duck with feather on my sweater. And that’s fine for a puffer priced 100usd but NOT 800usd. This is madness. Never again

Can’t return in store

This must be the last retailer that does not take online returns in store. “They’re separate.” And of course it’s not free returns. Lesson learned; won’t order again.

Beyond-Terrible and Disdainful Customer Service; Shoddy Products

I contacted JP about a defective shirt that had holes within a week. James Perse's customer service was the worst I've encountered in years, with a clear message of disdain: emails ignored or questions answered with cut-and-pasted sections of their website, no phone calls returned, and no representative appearing on the chat for hours.

Horrible customer service as everyone…

Horrible customer service as everyone says… I washed a pair of $100+ sweats and they ripped in the wash. They ignored my emails so I called and they said “too bad so sad” you can’t get anything for them and that’s it. No responsibility for defective products. I have several pairs of these pants and only this one ripped at the open seam. Oh well. Not gonna buy James perse again. Very greedy snobby culture and cheap overpriced clothes. They also don’t always fit the same. Some of the same pants are longer than others or more tight in the waist. Like I said, their loss.

I was a loyal fan of this brand until…

I was a loyal fan of this brand and liked the product enough where I was willing to pay $105 for a t-shirt, but after a recent experience at the Marin Country Mart location, I've decided to they are not worthy of my business. Ordered a shirt online and went to return it to the store because it didn't fit well. The tone and manner of the snobby sales girls was crisp and unhelpful. They refused to give me anything but a store credit for an unworn shirt that had only been received by me just days before, tags still on. I could only get a refund if I returned it online, and I must pay for shipping, even though I have hand delivered it to the store. So I paid to have them ship it to themselves... and it wasn't sent for several days after I returned it. I still haven't received my refund 7 days later.

As someone who owns my own service business, I am appalled by the return policies of this company and the overall manner in which they treat the customers. Service is a huge part of a luxury brand... and if you can't figure that out, you are simply not a luxury brand. I always find it ridiculous when a retail associate who is likely making so little that they couldn't possibly shop there themselves, cops a snobby attitude to their paying customers.

James Perse....a little Greedy and Shoddy and what happend to Customer Service

I emailed James Perse receiving back a one sentence question re my order number which I responded to 'several' times throughout the day with no response from James Perse's Customer Service department. Their answerphone is unmanned, no one answers. The pricing of James Perse's cotton shirts does not reflect the 'thin' cotton yarn which one would see in a budget store...IT is also a shame that they outsource the making to China as opposed to pay the going rate which would be charged in the US....Cheap cotton yarn, Cheap Labour...I will say that they do use mother-of-pearl buttons versus the usual plastic....Come on, James....you have made enough money...greed is not always the answer....Let's have cotton yarn which reflects your pricing and get someone to answer your Customer Service phone, at least, even if you do not wish to respond to emails

T-shirt stains cannot be washed out

I have bought several t-shirts from them stains are impossible to wash out. I have tried various things and each one ends up as a disaster because the dye runs. I have written to James Perse several times to ask how to wash the t-shirts to prevent but have never had a reply.
Poor customer relationship management, which is a pity because it is an expensive upmarket brand.

Stains don't come out in wash

I have now bought over the years about twenty-five T-shirts and fifteen polos from James Perse. And I'm done. I'm now exasperated with the sueded material that does not allow stains to wash out. If you use Spray and Wash, it makes a spot. So you have to dry clean these T-shirts and Polos. Yeah, dry clean them, which works and removes the stains, but it's crazy expensive. This is ridiculous. And, yes, as someone else said, they at times do open holes after washing them. I'm even such a silly dedicated customer that I have the shirts tailored, because the Size Three is too tight and the Size Four is too big. They need a Size Three and a Half. So I buy a Size Four and have them hemmed. I like the way they feel and drape, but no more. I'm done.

dissapointing quality

I purchased a sueded crew neck tshirt from James Perse and can't believe how terrible the quality is compared to the price I paid. The shirt is made from very thin material which gives it a soft, comforting feel however this has also makes it very susceptable to being damaged just from being washed. After a few washes I am getting small holes in the garment and the torso of this shirt somehow gets longer after each wash, not to mention the uneven streaking that has appeared after the very first machine wash.
