Transmission arrived very quickly with no issues at all. Shifts through all gears and reverse smoothly without any issues. I would definitely recommend purchasing from JDM Engine Zone

Ordering and customer service was great. Crating could have been better. External piping/ tubing had some damage/ bent in, making it unusable, long block was ok.

The company shipped the engine pretty quickly which is good, the only thing is the engine came delivered on its side, the strap that held the engine down broke during transport, but overall the engine... See more

Engine came in ok condition

Engine came in ok condition, unfortunately the intake manifold nipples were broken off and the intake gasket had a leak. Just be weary when you purchase one of these you may have to replace everything but the engine block itself and whatever is inside of it.

Easy pick up

Really easy pick up considering another person was picking up for me just had to send both IDs. Only thing is they gave no alternator (said on website) which is fine considering that they are considered gifts.

engine wasn't drained

Engine arrived in poor condition. Several broken components. Wasn't even drained of fluid. It is about what I expected for a $900 engine but the shipping was prompt and customer service was responsive.

Subaru EE20 Diesel engine and Transmission

Fast shipping and easy transaction, unfortunately that is all I can say about it. Wasn't going to review this but today's discoveries about the engine mounts threw me over the top.

First off understand that you are paying for a long block only, any additional parts i.e. intake manifold, turbos, wiring and such are all "gifts" from the seller and those parts should be reused from your original engine, which they state on the website. While I get this and understand this in most cases, this, in my opinion is not one of them.

This engine and transmission combo is listed as a swap, and even in the questions tab they list that this combo was never offered in the US so modification will be required. My issue is that either they or their importer strapped the engine down right across the intercooler and of course it is mounted to the intake manifold, which is plastic, so guess what happened? Yep, it is broken. Well in this particular case you can't reuse your intake because this is a swap and like they say this was never offered in the US so how can I use my intake?

The description clearly states what is included but their pictures show an engine that has more like the ECU and the diesel fuel filter. Well of course they say that it is a sample picture shown and of course none that stuff showed up with the engine so they have an out. While I kind of knew that would happen it is disappointing since again this is a swap that was never available to the US market and that is stuff that is needed to get this running in a car. So again, you cannot reuse your old stuff.

If you know Subarus then you know that the engine wiring harness has a connector (or two depending on the model) to disconnect to easily remove the engine without removing the whole harness. Well, I guess a little lever to disconnect the harness was too much for these guys to use so they just cut the plug off....... on the wrong side, the least they could have done was cut opposite of the connector on the car side but nope more work to be done. Again, another instance of you cannot reuse your original stuff.

Went to actually set the combo in the car today and noticed that the engine mounts are missing, someone actually took the time to remove the mounts from the engine which is two bolts each and one of them is kind of hard to get to when to remove the engine there is only two total nuts to remove to get the engine out of the car and just leave the mounts in place. Not cool. And again, another instance of you cannot reuse your old stuff.

Then there is the warranty, only a 30 day startup warranty which in their defense is perfectly acceptable in a one for one change, but to list this as a swap and show pictures of almost everything you need to complete it but then none of it shows with it and is missing other parts to complete it there is no way that you will get this started in 30 days. Especially since they say in their questions section about this and everyone who knows this diesel engine that this was never offered here in the US and to order these specific parts has to be done from overseas sellers which take 2-3 weeks to get you will never know if there is something wrong with this particular setup.

So, I do not have faith in this setup running right after everything is done. While I will continue this swap because this is a spare fun car to play with, I am disappointed in what they show versus what was received. This particular unit that I received looks and feels like it was thrown together from multiple cars to make it. They list it for a forester but the mounting points that are used in a forester are not here, but you can tell that the mounts that were used in an outback where there but removed.

So here we are at 3 weeks past my purchase date still waiting on parts to show from Europe so I can complete this swap, so the 30-day warranty is useless.

Fast delivery day after purchase.

Price was better than most domestic engine replacments.
I do regret going with a Japanese motor, because how much extra work swaping everything over was but that's on me for not first doing the research.

That they kept their word and they kept…

That they kept their word and they kept me in form that's the one I would get mine transmission only thing I don't like is that they charge you more just because you live in a house my friends workshop is in his house that's ridiculous why you going to try somebody almost 200 more dollars do they have a way to get the engine or transmission off while you worried about that why you going to charge them more and this was only even on a big truck was on a box truck it's just ridiculous man people that's trying to get more money from you I only giving them four stars because it did get here on time other than that I wasn't too happy with how they have it delivered liftgate and all that that's stupid to me what I refer somebody yes because they're in the business but I'll get them heads up look these guys trying to get more money in my opinion I don't know if that's their rules or rl's rooms but it ain't right they need to do better as long as you can get it off that truck if you have the equipment that's what you should do other than that I think they did a great job shipping it to me making sure that I was updated on everything and the price was good so far the transmission I don't know he's kind of turkey jerky maybe it's because of my mechanic and maybe because it's an older car I can't blame that on JDM and you know I don't like the attitude you know you know you in a business you supposed to be kind to people it wasn't that kind but I will refer people because you know they have good deals you can't make everything trivial you know if they have good deals and I have to respect it you know it's a business so yeah I would have gave them five stars and they didn't try to charge me $200 more dollars just to have it shipped to my mechanics house. Because I put an engine in this same vehicle my son brought it up to me in a truck we took it to his house and this is a engine and had no problem getting it off and these people want to charge you $200 yeah I'm going to keep stressing it so they can understand and it was on a box truck and still after I got it off the truck I still had to get it onto his truck to take it to his shop his song it was easy we left I slid it on some pallets I stack them up and for pallet jack I put it on the pallet and we slide it on to his truck no problem this was at my cousin's business loading dock. And we would have did the same for the transmission. Would I order from them again I hope not I don't mean that in a condescending way I mean I hope I don't have to buy another transmission I do not plan on it but yes I would purchase from them again they was quick and they are thorough.
