While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more
To protect platform integrity, every review on our platform—verified or not—is screened by our 24/7 automated software. Trustpilot Demands Transparency - Except From Itself
After having a business profile on the platform for many years, and even being actively approached by Trustpilot itself to collect reviews, my business profile was suddenly removed because my business supposedly no longer met their current eligibility criteria.
That is not even my biggest concern.
My biggest concern is how Trustpilot handled my questions afterwards. Over the course of a lengthy correspondence, I repeatedly asked simple questions, such as which Smartshop products or Smartshop businesses are actually permitted under their current policy and whether any relevant policy changes had taken place since my business was originally accepted. Despite all those emails, I never received a substantive answer.
Trustpilot claims that Smartshop businesses are assessed on a case-by-case basis, yet refuses to provide even a single example of a Smartshop business or product that actually meets its current eligibility criteria. Apparently, businesses are expected to comply with standards that Trustpilot is unwilling to explain.
My advice to any business considering working with Trustpilot: remember that this is a private platform that can decide at any time that your business is no longer eligible. My experience shows that years of building a review profile offer absolutely no guarantee for the future. Never make your online reputation dependent on Trustpilot, because the same thing could happen to your business.
For a company that claims to stand for transparency and trust, I found remarkably little transparency when it came to explaining its own decisions.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend Trustpilot to any business.

Trustpilot's basic maths stinks. Can't even get simple averages correct.
I have a new account on Trustpilot and seriously considering closing it.
I have one review on Trustpilot which is five stars - Trustpilot's mathematics say I have 3,7 average. How the hell does that work?

I like that this gives me a voice to warn others about my experience with a dishonest online parts supplier and bring their name into the spotlight so others will think twice about doing business with the company in my review. Thanks
