Heard has been great for me as a mental health counselor. They take the pressure off of bookkeeping and provide quarterly tax estimates. I really enjoy the fact they complete annual taxes for you as well. Even if you have another W2 position.

Heard takes away the annoyance of daily bookkeeping. They are very responsive to questions and working with Heard has been the best thing for me to do with my solo practice. I'm so grateful for Heard and don't plan on ever leaving them!

Heard is a great service to keep track of your Therapy income and expenses and to help you stay on top of paying your quarterly taxes as well as having them prepare and submitting your annual tax returns.

Since partnering with Heard in 2021 for my therapy private practice, I've experienced nothing short of exceptional service. They've been instrumental in streamlining my financial management, providing comprehensive monthly reports, and quarterly tax reminders, and handling yearly tax filings with utmost efficiency. One of the standout features of Heard is their communication system – it's quick, responsive, and always ensures that I can get assistance when needed.
Heard's dedication to customer satisfaction truly shines through in their willingness to adapt and expand their services. They not only listened to my needs but also actively engaged with me and other clients to gather feedback and implement changes that benefit their customer base. This proactive approach was incredibly impressive.
Moreover, Heard goes above and beyond by offering valuable resources such as informative articles on frequently asked questions and webinars for additional support. These resources have been invaluable in helping me navigate the complexities of financial management in private practice.
In summary, Heard is not just a bookkeeping service; they are a vital partner in the success of my business. Their exceptional service, combined with a genuine commitment to their clients, makes them a standout choice for any private practice looking for reliable financial management solutions.

I am getting quick and helpful responses that are making this daunting process of filing for an S corp much less painful than I imagined it would be. I’m also finding Heard to be a great resource for answering questions that are helping me become more informed about the financial aspects of the business of running a solo practice. They don’t need to be ignored or swept under the rug if you have a good team on your side.
Update: I’m having to edit this 5 star review due to my new discovery that Heard will not engage in any live contact with clients. I needed immediate help with payroll setup this week in order to edit a bank account that I added incorrectly. Because they insist on email only, I couldn’t get the answer I needed to make the change which ended up being complicated and required more nuanced assistance than sending me links to an article and a sentence that ends with an exclamation point. They did end up helping to fix the problem but not before the deadline for payroll passed. Kind of left me feeling like there is a reason why contact with an actual person to do bookkeeping is the way to go.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I invested into Heard for 1 year and it was the most horrible experience! They overpromised in terms of the tax services, and face-to-face they actually provide. They pushed me to incorporate from an LLC to an SCORP prematurely and gave incorrect information about how to do so resulting in back and forth letters and phone calls to the IRS alllllllllll year and the issues still arenʻt fixed. This resulted in many other issues with payroll compliance, State compliance, banking, etc. I was contacted by a dozen different Heard employees throughout the year, none of which seem to actually communicate with one another regarding customer needs, care, and status, because I had to type out my situation over and over and over again for each and every one! Such a waste of my time, energy, and money. Not to mention, I ended up paying over $2,000 to have a real Tax professional clean up all their mess!

I love Heard!! The amount of VERY user-friendly material available for me is amazing. I have learned more about the business end of my practice in the last 2 months with HEARD than I have in years asking questions to hired accountants. I was so discouraged about my business knowledge before HEARD and now I'm actually starting to feel some confidence and competence!!
Also, the response time and incredible friendliness of your staff is really awesome!

Heard has been an amazing service for my practice! I have been a therapist in private practice on and off for 5 years, and used to do my own accounting. It was a mess. I missed deadlines, didn't get all the deductions I deserved, owed thousands in taxes... seriously horrible. Heard makes things really easy, provides a lot of support, and helps me truly understand my finances. I also love that Heard specializes in therapists. Sometimes we have interesting situations that don't apply to other types of businesses, and honestly many of us just need a little extra help with finances and taxes. Heard is great for that! I love not having to worry about my books or my taxes. Absolutely worth the investment!

I recently had a fantastic experience with this financial company! They have been instrumental in helping me, as a therapist, navigate the complexities of sole proprietorship vs. S Corp and taxes, and on top of that, they have fantastic customer service and fast response time. What stood out was their non-pushy approach during sales calls and transparency about their services. They understand the unique needs of therapists, providing tailored solutions. Their knowledge of our field's costs and requirements sets them apart. I highly recommend their services!

such a great experience with heard so far. i was struggling to find someone to help me file my taxes for this year, and was really searching for a team who truly knows the nuances of private practice. overall it has been such a good experience - highly communicative and they have automated systems that make everything so easy. i upload my documents to the portal and my team takes it from there. highly recommend

My recent experience with Miz was very helpful. I misunderstood Heard's services when enrolling and might have enrolled a little earlier than necessary (I joined before having a practice established) but Miz helped to clear that up and provide me with next steps.

Heard has really helped reduce my stress around accounting and taxes. Their platform is easy to navigate. When I've had questions, the support team has been efficient and effective. I was hesitant to use Heard because I've prepared my own taxes in the past and wasn't sure if the benefit would be great enough. Frankly, having solid support for accounting and taxes is worth the trade off in having my time back.

Superb customer service! Heard could not make bookkeeping, payroll, and all the rest easier - the support I've gotten throughout setup was second to none. I was a babe in the woods with *all* of this stuff; I'm very grateful for Heard.

I worked with Heard starting the fall of 2022. Initially I felt like it was a good platform as I was only 3 months into my full time practice when the tax year ended.
After a full year in private practice come to realize that I need more support than Heard offers. Recently, I had concerns about my Q4 estimates and asked to have a video or phone call with someone to discuss. However, I was only offered email support. I felt that I needed more.
One reason I signed on with Heard was the quarterly check-ins with the tax accountant assigned to my account. That service ended (without explanation) after Q2 this year. Given my anxiety about taxes I would schedule my quarterly check-ins in advance by 3-6 months. The appointments were canceled without explanation twice. Finally I emailed Heard and was informed they were taking a "team approach" and would only have quarterly check-ins as needed. These check-ins were one of the main reasons that I signed up to use Heard. I found this change surprising and disappointing.
Unfortunately I later learned that I provided the wrong information for my Q3 spouse withholdings which created a domino effect on my estimates. Though I owed nothing in Q3, I now know that was because of my own oversight. I feel that if I'd had someone working closely with me that mistake would've been caught or (possibly)never had happened. I now have a very big estimated tax bill for this past year which was anxiety provoking and scary. As a private practice professional completing my first year in full time practice, this is was one of my biggest fears entering into full time solo practice. However, I've been in touch with new accountants and have found someone that I trust will work closely to help me lower my tax bill and help me manage my business finances. Having a more detailed and personal conversation about my business and taxes eased my fears and I realized that Heard, unfortunately, is not meeting my needs. I was pretty disappointed since they claim to be knowledgeable about private practices AND provide "human support". I'm comfortable with online/video services, but when I was seeking to speak with someone I only received template email responses until my issues were shared with "higher level tax experts". I appreciated the platform, but I need someone who will really partner with me and collaborate on my business needs and growth.
TLDR: Realized I need a more personal collaboration with a tax accountant especially after receiving an unexpected (somewhat jarring) tax estimate.
-Pros-
-The platform is user friendly and clear
-The reminder emails for monthly bank statements are helpful
-Bookkeeping is very professional and responsive
-Cons-
-No personal interactions outside of email
-You are expected to know the information needed for tax estimates
-No video check-ins with accountants, quarterly or otherwise
-If you mess up, no one looks over your numbers to assist/correct
-A Third Party is contracted to do taxes (for me this is a con because we aren't partnering to discuss how to file all the information that will help me/my business)

Heard has been an absolute delight to work with. They are personable, proactive, professional, and responsive. I honestly should have started the process of working with them when I first started my practice, but three years in and they have helped me get more organized, save money on items I didn't know were tax deductible, and helped me see a more clear picture of my business and how to plan for the unexpected. I can't rate them high enough!

Heard is timely in responding to my questions, setting up times to talk virtually, and making things clear to someone who is not an accountant. The turnaround on bookkeeping is quick and they have proven to be very reliable!

I am a new subscriber and I hope that Heard can meet my needs to organize my finances as a private practice owner and file my taxes accordingly this year. It is refreshing to find an organization that is an expert in helping therapists with their financial organization and tax preparation so I can focus more on helping my clients instead of stressing out about organizing my business finances. I hope that Heard won't disappoint me and other therapists during this mental health crisis our world is facing.

I recently decided that I no longer want to pay $200 a month for Heard's services--it's not worth it. I was not happy with their tax department and informed them that I would not be utilizing their services for my 2023 tax preparation. This decision was based on generic responses I received to an overly inflated quarterly tax estimate. I also decided that I needed to cancel my Heard subscription because paying $200 a month for bookkeeping services alone for a practice of less than 15 clients makes zero sense. I have sent multiple communications to Heard regarding my request to cancel my subscription and no one is getting back to me. Beware, Heard's platform doesn't allow you to remove your form of payment so they are basically creating a condition where you have to call your bank to stop the subscription which would mean cancelling a debit card associated with the Heard platform. That's just bad business!
1/17/2024: This is in response to Heard's reply. It's unfortunate that you are stating that you stand by your estimate when you ended up reducing it after I pushed back on the estimate. The bottom line is that your services are not very personalized and are really expensive for someone that has a very small practice. This is information that therapists should be aware of. In terms of the lack of communication to my request to cancel my subscription, it's funny that someone replied to my review faster than my request to cancel my subscription. The same information about the process to cancel could have been relayed to me directly but it wasn't which is what caused me to be anxious about the process. In fact, to date no one from Heard has explained the offboarding process to me. Your reply is the first I'm hearing about those steps. Not good!
