I have been using Heard for several months now since I launched my private practice, and I'm so grateful to this company for getting my business books in order! I have had positive experiences in every interaction with them - customer service is timely, helpful and always friendly. They make sure I'm up to date on everything I need to run smoothly, month to month. I recommend Heard highly!

I was anxious and uniformed about how to set up payroll and accounting systems for my private practice. I reached out to Heard and received assistance that far exceeded my expectations. Christina went above and beyond to ensure I understood the processes by including a step by step video in response to all of my questions. She set my mind at ease and provided an informative resource, which I can refer to in the future.

Nadine is amazing. I asked to meet with her for clarification on several things, and she went above and beyond what I expected. We met, and she answered all of my questions. I emailed her a couple of days later asking for the directions for two (2) of the things I had to do, and she made a video and sent it to me. THAT was exactly what I needed. I just joined a few months ago, but so far, everyone I have dealt with at Heard has been extremely helpful and polite.

1 star is being generous, honestly. Heard claims they filed my 2553 as an s-corp earlier this year. After being on hold 2 hours with the IRS in October (after I realized I never received a CP216 letter, trusting they did what they said they did) the IRS agent confirmed it was never received. I’ve now been operating illegally as an s-corp this year, paying myself as a W-2 employee. When I told Heard support what was going on they gave me the generic let me share this inquiry with a tax specialist. I also emailed the original staff member who supposedly filed the form- no response from her. They came back saying the original fax in February failed and they never resent the fax, so the form was not filed. So, they refiled the 2553 form in October without doing it correctly, which I gave them information on what exactly they needed to submit as reasonable cause for why the 2553 form was not filed by the March deadline, but they fully disregarded me and said "don't worry, we have so much experience with this". Of course the IRS did not approve my business as an s-corp for 2023, which I just got notice of yesterday. I have reached out to Heard and nothing but crickets today. This is an extremely time sensitive issue and I’m going to guess they just try to dodge this even though I have them in writing stating this is their initial error. They’ve really screwed me and my practice for this year now, who knows how much more tax I will owe and penalties and I am now finding a new accountant and tax preparer who actually knows what they’re doing. Yet, Heard won't answer me on how to cancel my subscription with them. I also want to mention I am 7 months pregnant and their negligence is causing undue stress and is going to prevent me from taking my intended maternity leave with my first child because I am self employed and will likely have a hefty tax bill to try and make up for now.

Do not do business with this company. I lost count of their bookkeeping errors and the number of times I had to recategorize transactions myself. When they did my taxes it took five drafts from the beginning to completion of the return. Each draft I caught errors that would have cost me thousands of dollars in overpaid taxes. Customer service is terrible. I had to repeat my requests for corrections to multiple people. After complaining numerous times, I finally spoke with the CEO, who at first validated all of my complaints, but then only offered a partial refund. Very disappointing.

I truly cannot say enough good things about my experience with Heard over the past year. I have been in private practice for 2 years and found Heard when searching for alternative options after a negative experience during 2023 tax season with my last accounting firm. When I initially found Heard, I hesitated because of the $200 monthly subscription cost. I had been doing my own bookkeeping to save on costs and didn’t want or need to spend extra on a subscription that included bookkeeping in the coming year. But then I ran the numbers. To do my own bookkeeping I had to pay a monthly subscription fee to QuickBooks. Then when I broke down what I had just paid my previous accounting firm to do my taxes into 12-month increments and added that to what I was paying for QuickBooks, I was going to essentially break even subscribing to Heard. And Heard came with bookkeeping and access to accounting and tax professionals on top of everything else? SOLD.
If you excel in psychology, accounting, AND taxes, this probably isn’t a necessary service for you. But if you are like me and most of the psychologists I know, business is not why you got into this field. My first year in private practice I felt like I was floundering on the business end; constantly feeling like I was dropping balls. And not small balls, but important balls that could have legal or tax ramifications that I wasn’t even aware I was supposed to be juggling. When I tried to find answers, I always found myself in a Google web of documents and websites using language that I didn’t understand.
Now, when I have a question related to the business side of my business, I simply log in to Heard, type my question into “Messages,” and one of their experts gets back to me within 24 hours. Sometimes the responses are easy answers solved through messages. When 2023’s Quarter 1 taxes were due, I was particularly panicked with many questions and one of the tax experts called me that night to ensure she answered all my questions. Recently, I reached back out to the same expert to ask questions about year-end and, when it became apparent that I was still confused, after she initially answered my questions, she made a brief Loom video to explain things to me visually, which made everything click.
As I mentioned before, bookkeeping is also included. If you’re like me and have no issue keeping your own books, this is just a nice bonus. I do have to admit that it’s nice not to have to keep up with this part of the business anymore. Now I can just focus on being a clinician, which is why I got into this in the first place. Finally, this is a service created for mental/behavioral health providers. Unlike in other services where you will be forced to try to make business lingo fit the mental health space, the lingo here IS for the mental health space. They get what we do and provide the support that allows us to spend more time doing what we love. It’s worth every penny.

I was a bit hesitant to sign up with HEARD. I must say that my experience so far has outweighed any concerns. There are many companies out there that offer all sorts of solutions to make running a practice easier. With HEARD there are real people behind the scenes to connect with. The money/tax side of my practice has been frustrating and confusing over the years. I’m looking forward to feeling less stressed out as I navigate my work with clients.

I'm not one to typically write reviews. However, this is different because I'm genuinely grateful. The financial aspects of starting my solo private practice were daunting (understatement). Getting enrolled with Heard has been my best business decision yet, hands down! The staff managing my books are patient, thorough, and have the hearts of teachers, providing guidance and support along the way. So far, I can't recommend enough. I do have some concerns about upcoming tax season given the other reviews posted but I'm going to stick with it and see how this year goes. It sounds like they have learned a lot these last couple of years so I'm hopeful about punctuality and accuracy in taxes.

Hello, I had a Heard phone consultation with Sabrina on Tuesday November 1, 2023, at 11:30 am. She described the Heard platform and what they could provide as it relates to taxes, accounting etc. for therapist. She also informed me the $275. set-up fee would be waived if I signed up by Friday 11/3/2023. An email was supposed to be provided by her after the call where I could sign up. I never received the email. I called and left her a vmg, still no answer. Today I decided to look at some Heard reviews. The reviews that were positive looked liked Bot responses and not real people. The negative reviews sounded more like real experiences. I'm so happy I never received the email from Sabrina, I'm certain I would've signed up. There seem to be many problems with taxes not being completed in a timely fashion, extensions and horrendous fees associated with that.

It has been an amazing experience working with Heard. I have peace of mind knowing that there is a team that is keeping track of all the finances my private practice. I am beyond frustrated with this company. I have been with this company for two years and tax season has been a nightmare for both 2021 and 2022. I gave this company the benefit of the doubt and trusted they would make the changes that they promised after the 2021 tax season. This was a mistake. My 2022 taxes are still not complete. I have communicated and shared with them since the summer that my numbers were wildly inaccurate due to duplicates. My books are still inaccurate and now they are saying that due to technical issues they cannot fix the errors, which is obviously needed for taxes. But to make matters worse, they refuse to give me a phone number so that I can speak to a manager or the lead cpa. The fact that there are no phone numbers listed is done intentionally. This is totally unacceptable and I can’t imagine running a company like this. This company has taken my money monthly but here I am with inaccurate bookkeeping and taxes that are incomplete.
