I self-published on KDP back in 2012. I published 7 books, 4 were humor focused poems and comics. Around 2018ish I gave up on writing for awhile and kind of forgot about the site. Then at 1 AM C... See more

This place is a piece of junk
This place is a piece of junk. Worse customer service in the entire galaxy. They leave my book with burry image and don’t let you fit it or extremely hard than normal.
How Amazon kdp govern bleeding and margin will give a nightmare and it takes serval hours to just upload a single file. This is an absolute worse place to deal with. Never seen anything of like this. It doesn’t care how hard people working on. This is why anyone who see burry image say it’s a low quality. It low quality because of Amazon not me
Absolutely terrible
Absolutely terrible. It was very tedious to publish 4 years ago. But now it is much worse. Even the contact us page does not work.
Suddenly rating dropped from 4.7 to 4.2. I found a rating of 2 showing and there is simply no associated review.
Unable to contact anyone to resolve. Their pages do not work either.
I am going to take my book down from KDP
Should have read Trustpilot first.
I thought things were going well until I got my first test book published (eBook and Hard copy) and then carried on with my primary project, thankfully I did the test book first.
Two weeks after it being published my account was frozen and received an email telling me I had to verify my identity, after numerous times of trying I wrote to customer service, you ever feel like your in a loop with Artificial intelligence turning out a generic message with minor adjustment to the opening sentence and a change of name and title.
I am out of there, an overgrown company that has lost touch with reality, amateurs.
Worst low paying platform
Worst low paying platform. For months I made less than rupees 5 per month inspite of having 250 books. You will never reach the threshold for cheque payment and then they terminate your account for having multiple accounts.
KDP mistakes
KDP was slow to honor its contract with me and made many mistakes along the way. They never fully honored their contract, and after six months, I gave up trying to enforce it.
They were constantly trying to upsell me on other plans before finishing the one they were paid to complete.
Amazon KDP Discriminates Against Arabic Authors - Unfair Suspension Without Proper Review
I'm writing this review to warn other authors from Arabic countries about Amazon KDP's discriminatory practices and unfair account suspension policies.
My Experience:
I invested my own money in tools and resources to start working on Amazon KDP to help support my family. I spent considerable time creating unique, original books with my own custom covers. Just as my account was starting to gain traction and show progress, Amazon suddenly suspended my account (dzcreators.com).
The False Accusation:
Amazon claimed my book cover was "used from another source" - which is completely false. The cover was 100% my own original creation. Despite this being clearly my own work, they refused to restore my account or provide any meaningful appeal process.
The Real Issue - Discrimination:
This appears to be part of a systematic pattern of discrimination against Arabic authors. The search results show that Amazon has been known to censor and restrict content from Middle Eastern countries, particularly targeting Arabic regions. There are documented cases of authors from Arabic countries facing unfair treatment and account suspensions.
Automated Bias:
Amazon's algorithm appears to be biased against Arabic users, automatically flagging our content and covers as "suspicious" without proper human review. When Arabic authors try to appeal, we're met with generic responses and no real investigation into our cases.
Impact on Arabic Families:
This discrimination is particularly harmful because many of us rely on platforms like KDP to support our families, especially in regions with limited economic opportunities. Amazon's unfair practices are preventing honest, hardworking Arabic authors from earning legitimate income.
My Advice:
If you're from an Arabic country, be extremely cautious with Amazon KDP. Consider alternative publishing platforms that don't have this documented history of discrimination. Amazon KDP clearly has bias in their automated systems and appeal processes against Arabic users.
Conclusion:
Amazon KDP's treatment of Arabic authors is unacceptable and appears to be systematically discriminatory. They destroy livelihoods based on false accusations and provide no fair appeal process for users from our region.
Find platforms that value diversity and treat all authors equally, regardless of their nationality or region.
Fraud
I joined in July and immediately told Ms. Howard and Barbara that I couldn't do this. It seemed like a lot of hours of work and not enough training. My mother had just passed away in May, and I had a Celebration of Life to plan in another State. Ms. Howard said I had to wait for close out?? She lied and she blew me off, and said that I would get the money back. I then told Barbara who said I might rejoin later. I still asked for my money back and was given an email much later. They of course, couldn't help me. I wonder how many other people have experienced this??
Ms. Howard is very hard to understand, and I realized that I would have more trouble understanding her.
Anyway, I verbally canceled within a week, and they kept my $497.00 and now they said that I didn't tell them in time. I consider what they did to me FRAUD, and I wouldn't join if I were you!! I just read some bad reviews on here. It makes me sick to think how much money they have taken from people!
Absolutely useless
Absolutely useless. I've been waiting weeks for the three proof copies I ordered prior to publishing. They've been delayed twice and I'm now at the point of ditching the whole concept. A complete waste of space.
KDP IS IN DECLINE-AVOID
Five years ago I'd have said go for it. The process was relatively hassle-free, and allowed someone with no representation or publisher to access global markets with relative ease. As a result, I published nineteen titles on KDP. But I think I will never put another one on this broken platform, and here's why:
1. Loss of Control of Author Page: Every six months to a year, I lose control of my author page. It's there, and then, it isn't. So I cannot control my product, hence, I call Customer Service, and that's where the fun begins!
2. Abysmal Customer Service: When I reach the Indian call centre with my issue, if it's too hard for the operator, they direct me to a dead phone number. The last time I tried getting help, I only got it on the fourth call. And the problem doesn't stay fixed.
3. Poor Quality Control: Over the last few years, I've noticed a decline in the quality of the product. Print jobs that are off-centre or blurry, and poor colour settings ruining expensive, custom-designed covers. Expect zero ownership or accountability.
Frankly, that's it for me. I don't know what I'm going to do with my product in future, but Amazon seems to be discarding it's self-published authors, so I suppose it's a mutual breakup?
Minus 200 stars…
After much expense and having to constsntly contact publisher with very bad errors that should have been noticed by proof readers. my book was published .
BUT ALL OF THE ILLUSTRATIONS ARE ON THE INCORRECT PAGE NOT TO CORRESPOND WITH POEM. I THEN HAD TO PAY AU 164.00 FOR 3 COPIES (WHICH EQUATES TO 54.00 EACH) AND WHEN THEY TURNED UP THEY WERE FROM ADELAIDE. PAID TAXES ETC ON SOMETHING THAT CAME FROM AUSTRALIA. TOTALLY DISCUSTED AND WANT MY MONEY BACK.
customer service is so rude
customer service is so rude, I made payment. they did nothing. I want to get a refund after looking at these reviews they were so hesitate and speaking so rudely.
Seems like a scam
The worst experience !after six months…
The worst experience !after six months of having my books published, Amazon KDP terminated my account, claiming I was using multiple accounts, which is completely untrue. I wasted my time for nothing! People, avoid this scam Amazon KDP.
This company is the Absolute worst
This company is the Absolute worst. I am a disabled vet suffering with PTSD. I thought I found way to calm my anxiety while spreading help to others who need a reminder and motivation. I tried several times to verify my ID on the KDP website and after several failed attempts, I was told I had 13 day to comply. Then I was told later that same day, My account was being terminated. There are hundreds who share this same experience with this company. Save yourself time and find another publishing company. KDP is the worst.
Kindle Book Publishing
As long as my books were under CreateSpace, they were generating little royalties. KDP took over, sales gone, no royalties. KDP keeps insisting on spending hundreds of $ on advt. Indeed, Self-Publishing is a trap by companies to grab money from innocent authors.
KDP Publishing is a terrific way to sabotage book sales
My six-month contract involved me paying an exorbitant sum up front, on the understanding the money would be refunded if my book did not hit sales targets. Sales were catastrophically bad, but after 13 months, I have only received 7.9 percent of my money.
Almost immediately after I signed up, they began the hard-sell routine. I turned down illustrations, because they did not fit my kind of book. However, when I refused a $10,000-plus audiobook package, they stopped working on my project. Completely. For four months. Still no sales.
At that point I got a new project manager, who promised to "make things right." KDP extended my contract to ten months. After a barrage of hard-sell phone calls from them, I convinced them I did not need an overpriced webhosting package. Then, six months in, I discovered my book had not been categorized, and was therefore was not appearing in Amazon search listings.
By the time it finally did appear, it had zero sales in six months, which meant it was at the very bottom of the listings.
I asked them to relaunch my book, to at least give my book a fighting chance, but they refused. Thus the promotional package I got wasn't useless: it was WORSE than useless.
They ended up GIVING a bunch of books away, and my earnings to date are a few dollars.
Unhelpful and unprofessional!!!
If I could give KDP zero stars, I would. It was supposed to be an easy way for people to self-publish their books. At first, things went well, and I was even earning a bit of money. But every time they updated their site, my books ended up with errors, and I had to constantly had to go through them and re-upload.
Then I started getting warnings saying my keywords were wrong. I read through their guidelines over and over again, desperately trying to figure out what the issue was, but their AI security checks kept flagging my books without explaining why. I reached out for help so many times, practically begging for guidance, but got absolutely no support.
They blocked my account a few times, and when I queried it, they’d apologise and tell me it was a mistake – only to suspend me again the same day for supposedly having issues with my keywords. Before I even had a chance to fix anything, they terminated my account completely. To top it off, they kept that entire month’s earnings.
KDP is honestly the worst, most useless, and completely unprofessional.
Amazon tried to change position of text…
Amazon tried to change position of text to picture. They stuck text in the op of the picture instead below. They leave off capitals and punctuation. Crappy publishing company. DO NOT USE!
Just got terminated by KDP for…
Just got terminated by KDP for “multiple accounts” with zero proof. Total BS. I’ve had my account for a while, no issues—until now. I write children’s books, and this is the treatment I get? Ridiculous. KDP will nuke your hard work over nothing. Beware before you waste your time.
Kdp Amazon is supposed to be an easy…
Kdp Amazon is supposed to be an easy and convenient solution for publishers but instead they are just trying take a piss out of you all the time. Making unnecessary changes and coming up with new ideas that makes everything a complete mess. Now they forcing me to change the interior font size drastically which will result a huge mess.. all they want with this to get more money out of it as the printing cost will increase as well… do not choose amazon if you are considering publishing your book, I only had so much headache with this site. Not worth it!!!
Don't waste your time with kdp
Don't waste your time with kdp. I've gave my email my password and my verification number and still can't sign in, can't changed my number absolute nightmare by kdp
