Lost only fob to my car miles from home. Keycare technicians explained how the process would work. I was fortunate in that I had lost key insurance, and the company was recommended by the insurers.
It was to be a simple 2 day process, but on day 2 Keycare was unable to access the final codes and instead had to get in touch with VW HQ where the fob was to be coded. Although I had paid up fully, they were prepared to refund full payment, but sweetened the deal by offering me an extra fob for free.
It took 5 working days to actually get the fob. They technicians were terrific. If Keycare reads this, my car was at Bartra Beach Murrisk Co Mayo.
The villains of the story are the VW Dealerships, 2 of whom I contacted and who said it would take at least 10 working days to get a fob replaced, and VW HQ in Dublin who were of absolutely no assistance, except to send soothing emails and ask for pointless details. As I explained to them, they had my car model, reg, etc and all they had to do was email or call the fob coding unit wherever it was based. I told then they were not being asked to build a compound for human habitation on Mars. A simple, goddamned coding of a car fob.
I have to now write a review of VW Ireland........

The whole process was very efficient and pain free
After initially trying to help with the sourcing of replacement key/fob, the companies chosen locksmiths informed me that they were unable to help. At this point I was advised of the max budget cost for procuring a replacement and that I had 120 days to complete the task before the offer was withdrawn. After numerous emails/ phone calls to UK business's I eventually contacted a French company who offered a replacement unit for £170 - turned into a scam and lost my money. Reluctantly I contacted a company based in USA.but had to send original key for copy and cloning .This company Mercedes Swap Shop were true to their word and last week I received a fully operational cut key and programmed fob. The cost of this service was over £330. Keycare quickly reimbursed the costs of procuring this key , including £25 postage costs to USA. Annoyingly after only a matter a few weeks from opening the claim,I received mails from keycare asking me to submit my request for reimbursement ,alternatively suggesting that I cancel the claim as time was getting short! This happened several times which I found to be most unhelpful. Disappointed with the lack of constructive help after the initial couple of days and being left
floundering.

The service was good when we got the key replacement guy at the door, but it took two days for someone to help us. After our second call to find out what was happening, they sent someone out within an hour or two, and the job was done perfectly.

The communication of the process and the arranged visit by the AA technician worked very well.

Unacceptable delays in finalising my claim. Demanding receipts bank statements ect as proof of payment, cash payments not accepted, not being able to supply a locksmith when that is supposedly what this insurance is for. I would not recommend this insurance cover to my worst enemy.
