I bought the Kitpimp Recon smock. It arrived quickly once the shop reopened after their holidays. I haven't worn it yet so this is more of an 'Unboxing Review'.
I bought it looking for a very breathable jacket for those hot, humid, summer days which have drizzle or light rain.

While I haven't worn it yet, the weight of the fabric is heavier than what I expected for a smock I'd expect to be used by very active soldiers. So that's down to me and my ignorance of the norms. The surplus MTP Windproof smock I have has a lighter fabric, so I will be depending on the different composition of the fabrics for the wished-for breathability.
Sizing-wise, I would have chosen a size between the Medium and Large, but there isn't one. That leaves my medium size okay with just a base layer but a tad tighter than I'd like with a fleece also under it. A military issue 180/104 fits me better, quite a bit looser- I have a bit of a belly - but it's completely a non-issue in the military surplus jacket.
The unattached ending of the zip in the MOD version does make it easier to zip up.
My last comment refers to the description on the website. The blurp is out of date with the intro referring to its impending introduction a number of years ago.
Also, the hood does NOT stow away. Not an issue for me, just an inaccurate description.
I got the jacket at a discounted price and what I got is well worth the price. I look forward to trying it out when summer temps drop a bit.
Most of my comments would have been dealt with at the time had I been buying in a shop. Buying online you really depend on the accuracy of the description.

Amazing price for smock, not far off Arktis for design and quality which is far more expensive.

I love the fact the magazine pockets have been replaced with canteen pouches and because it’s green it’s less conspicuous

Bergen is ok. Used far superior Bergen’s with better stitching and more robust clips. Front pouches are hard to use properly in conjunction with larger poncho pouch. I’ve had 3 clips snap and now the side seaming has fully ripped leaving a 4/5 inch hole in the side so it’s now US. I don’t think I’d purchase another as a Bergen should last longer than 2 years when it’s only been on exercise for maybe 15 weeks in total. I’ve messaged the company but no reply.

Unfortunately order arrived not complete and despite emailing and contacting What’s App number on website have had no response so far to try and get sorted.

What has arrived seems good quality and what I had hoped for but haven’t been able to use properly yet as set is not complete.

Stitching is really good and well laid out.

Great updates on order and quick delivery. No wasted packaging either which I was pleased to see.

Everything went well and fast only one problem. I called from abroad and my phone has a blocked number. The phones from the company don't recognize it. But mail worked well.

Ex military and still doing loaded carry events. I’ve been looking to upgrade for a while and previously brought pre owned professional upgraded kit but it just wasn’t what I wanted. Always a compromise. Well this definitely fits the bill with all the extras included with the price… Very happy. For once decided to go for the non MTP version as where I live didn’t want to stand out too much whilst training..Cheers Kitpimp for taking the time and effort to produce this version. PPS the delivery from one click to arrival was Bob on. You could almost book it on the Monday for your next field exercise the following week.Happy Brecon!

Great product! Exactly as described

A great piece of kit. Multitude of pockets for all your bits and bobs. Don’t know how waterproof yet but definitely rugged and roomy enough for a layer underneath. Will probably spray it with a ‘scotch guard ’ type spray to improve water repellency.

Well built as well. Looks like it will take tough treatment okay out bush.

Delivery was quick, the Bergen is top quality materials and very well made. Padding and breathability on the Bergen is a game changer!
