GROUPON SCAM - REQUIRES ADDITIONAL PURCHASE
I purchased a $116.99 Groupon that was advertised to give me a $500 redemption credit. When I tried to redeem the only packages to chose were a $319.99 (Closet) package and a $624.99 (TRUNK) package.
Since I only had a $500 credit if I tried to purchase the TRUNK an additional $124.99, Plus $30 to download, Plus $20 shipping, and additional $174.99.
When I tried to cancel the order, only "Groupon Bucks" were offered as a refund, even though I was told I could get a refund for 3 days and it was only 1 hour after purchasing.

Can I get a lower than one-star review? I received my stuff back after weeks and I had to email them to find out why it was not done even though they said it was complete. I now have my stuff but no thumb drive, no discs, just a website that says my order number and email don't match. WTF? Can't get anyone to respond to an email or chat. I'm ready to go to my credit card company to have these charges reversed. I think this site may be a complete scam

Very easy to ship and it did not take long to receive my new dvds
Not happy with the quality of finished product. Can't verify the validity of tapes copied, some were about one to minutes. I don't believe that to be true. Terrible customer service, no one cares

The marketing is excellent, and how they make it easy for you to mark tapes to ship to them. They send you box, you mark everything, and send it back in the same box. Super easy.
What I got the files back, it was clear that no human looked at anything. Several of the reels were hours long with random 45 minute clips within. They are now expecting me to crop the clips down. I expected them to send one folder for each media, then have files in there. They don't. It will take me hours and hours to crop this content.
And then I have 37 files. There is no way to download it all once. Do I need to go item by item. And if often freezes, and then I need to re-load their website, and try again. I've been trying to download my own content for over an hour now.
And the customer service is really bad. I explained several of these problems, and I keep getting cut/pasted responses that their customer services was scripted to send. I kept asking for a real person, and then they would respond back with negative info and then "Thanks, I hope you have a wonderful day!" They are clearly not reading the room.
Now, I basically need to send their content to another company to finish the job they started - assuming I can eventually download the rest of the content on their site.

It was a great decision to transform our memories! It was everything I expected and will send out more items to be transformed. It also makes a great gift. I am going to get some tapes and send them to Legacy Box for my mothers upcoming birthday.
First I would like to say I appreciate the timely effort your business took in completing my order. I received all the tapes back and in good working condition. My tapes were treated as well as I hoped. I did finally get a chance to view the processed information and I am well pleased with the end result understanding that there was substantial degradation on the tapes.
Thank you for your business.

Great experience with Legacy Box. All items scanned and preserved with care. Tapes and photos were returned carefully packaged. Easy to use Cloud service and great Customer Support as well. Thank you!
Legacybox is very communicative through the whole process. Even though some of my VCR tapes were damaged prior to submitting them for transfer, what I did receive was more than acceptable. Would recommend them to anyone that wants to save their personal history.
DO NOT TRUST YOUR PRECIOUS MEMORIES TO LEGACYBOX!
As a former employee, I feel a responsibility to warn people before they make the mistake of sending their irreplaceable memories to this company. I’ve seen firsthand how little Legacybox cares about quality or your memories.
The bottom line? It’s all about speed and profits not quality, not care, and definitely not your peace of mind.
I still remember the day that we had a meeting to let us know quality standards were changing. I thought this was great, UNTIL I realized they were doing away with some of the quality rules that were in place, not trying to make the quality of transfers better for our customers.
The extremely greedy founders push a quantity over quality mentality. To keep up, corners were cut, plain and simple. Here are just a few of the things I personally witnessed:
1. Photos scanned upside down or crooked? Totally acceptable under their new standards.
2. Dust or blemishes on your images? Not our problem.
3. Video tapes with tracking issues? Don’t waste time fixing them, even if the footage was nearly unwatchable.
4. 6-hour tapes with only 30 minutes of content? We’d run the entire tape, and you’d get hours of blank screen back.
They told us to “ship fast and often.” We were constantly pressured to meet unrealistic production quotas, and if we fell short, we were threatened with termination. Due to this, majority of my coworkers would often mark items in their assigned digitizing kits as “damaged” and not even touch the item. Didn’t matter if it was actually damaged, or if it could really be digitized. We know that running that one tape will put us behind our weekly quota and we want to keep our jobs, to pay our rent, so we don’t digitize it.
And yes, you'd still be charged for it. You don’t qualify for a partial refund unless majority of your order is deemed undigitizable. They built the system to favor themselves, not their customers.
And the treatment of your actual items?
Shocking. I’ve seen entire pallets of priceless analog media dropped, damaged, and even lost. Yes, an entire pallet of customer orders vanished, and rather than own up to it, they misled the affected customers for months.
This toxic, high-pressure work environment absolutely trickles down to the quality of your order. Miserable, overworked employees, standing for 8+ hours a day in a hot warehouse, rushed to meet quotas? How could that possibly lead to careful, high-quality work?
Whenever friends asked me about Legacybox, I always told them the truth: Use our competitor iMemories instead.
Please, don’t risk your priceless family memories with Legacybox. I’ve seen what happens behind the scenes and I wouldn’t trust them with a blank piece of paper, let alone irreplaceable photos and videos.
Protect your memories. Look elsewhere.
Aside from this taking 2 months, they uploaded someone else’s video as one of my 10 files and now insist that they only way to remedy this is for me to prove the error by sending them selected footage from the missing original. If I could play the original (a Hi8 video), I wouldn’t need them in the first place to digitize. Now they say I should go to a local library, borrow a Hi8 player, somehow convert that to a digital file, and send it to them (the very service that they are supposedly offering). I suggested that perhaps they could offer to just re-digitize the single tape for me and the response was “then we would have to pay for shipping.”
In reply to the company's response: I already sent the customer support team member a photo of the series of 3 tapes, all labeled at the time they were made, which are clearly three subsequent recordings of an event. These are not "home movies" and there is no question about remembering what is on them. I provided the photo to show that they clearly mixed up the files or barcodes and uploaded someone else's footage. I don't see in their response any suggestion for a process to resolve this - perhaps just offer to re-digitize the single tape. However, after reading many reviews of LegacyBox online, I wouldn't trust my original, irreplaceable material with them. There are too many horror stories of things lost and damaged while under their care.

I've received multiple emails from Legacy box offering nine dollars per digital item. The sounded like a really good deal.
I then saw a deal on Groupon where I got $375 worth of legacy box for $79 I took advantage of that And when it took me to the legacy box website the 20 tapes that I could've had done for $200 now showed $670 on their site and they wanted me to give them another $300 at least 20 tapes. This is straight out of fraud And needs to be taken care of. I will not be doing business with them and as a professional photographer, I will be recommending to my clients and fellow photographers not to work with legacy box.
I've reached out with no success to legacy box for assistance.

I sent several VHS to be digitized and at least two came back with random documentaries in the middle of our home video. The entire point of sending them off to be professionally done is for this NOT to happen. When I emailed them, they wanted us to send the VHS back to check but we would still need to pay a small fee. I didn't bother because I don't trust them.

I put off looking into legacybox because I thought it would be a huge hassle, but it's been an easy process so far. It took us a few weeks to decide what to send in to be digitized, so it was a relief that the shipping label was good for about 6 months. Now that my box has been received I'm just waiting for the work to be done.
Deeply frustrated and full of regret after using Legacy Box. This company is a mess - poorly run and borderline scammy. I waited two months just to receive a giant box with basically nothing inside. The communication throughout was abysmal. When I tried to watch the videos I had paid to have "digitized," none of them worked. I called the company, only to be told then that there had been a "processing error on their end." Their solution? Send everything back and wait a few more weeks. No apology. No compensation. Nothing. I'm absolutely seething. Avoid this company at all costs - it's infuriating.

First, the review should have "0" stars. Received dvds and flash drive with distorted, noise filled crap. The cloud storage has the same thing, that also freezes and pauses continually. What an absolute disappointment. I haven't looked at my vhs tapes as I need to hook up a vcr, but my fear is that they damaged my tapes as they were perfectly watchable a few years ago. Their customer service is horrible, they only gave me a $40 credit for the over $300 I spent. I'm not kidding...every single dvd, etc., is unwatchable. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE, THEY ARE A SCAM! It's funny too how you can only leave a review on their site if it's five stars and you're unable to leave a google review. I literally hate what they did and who they are. Regret just not going somewhere local. It's also convenient, by this company, how customers are unable to leave Google reviews or negative reviews on their website.
**MY REPLY TO LEGACY'S RIDICULOUS COMMENT TO MY REVIEW**
The reply left by Legacy after reading my review is hilarious! This is the EXACT reply I received while I was trying to get some type of refund for their scam service. What do they do, just cut and paste this reply to every unsatisfied customer? I wish I had this exact comment they sent me, but I deleted everything about my experience with them in my emails, it was to irritating to look at them. What a joke. Do you really think I'd want to resend my one and only vhs tapes of my personal family history and memories back to you and risk you damaging them again?? Legacy is the biggest scam out there that doesn't care about your personal family memories, that once they ruin them, they are ruined and damaged forever. They need to be known as Legacy of Lies.

Still seething mad about video downloads. Last used in 2021. complained then and got nothing. Just remined how bad it was when trying to copy something for fathers day 2025. most Videos have tracking issues that were not on originals. ( have vcr and they play fine) They just stuck in the machine and let it go. Most have tracking lines thru middle and lower third. Over a grand spent on three orders. waste of time.

Zero customer service.
I feel like I clicked on a bait and switch ad claiming scanned photos up to 4x6. Well my photos are all different sizes UP TO 4X6. Watch out for Extra Charges when photos are not 3x5 or 4x6 - something not mentioned when I placed my order!!
