Just been to Lidl Bingley

Just been to Lidl Bingley, 18 miles round trip only to find a lot of empty shelves and freezer's. I only managed to get a fraction of the goods that I wanted most were out of stock.I don't know when I will return to this store.

Basically

Basically, it's always the same product. If you are used to the fact that you have a permanent basket of choice, then you are here. But it will be difficult to find some interesting product. Good selection of coffee and dairy products. Sometimes I shop for sweets. The staff is a bit tired all the time. Treat customers with a slight indifference.

Power hungry security guard.

My daughter and granddaughter today popped into the Newton road store, rushden. They didn’t have what she wanted and she left. (She went out the in door). The security guard shouted at her to come back in the store. Then at the doors not only searched her but also her just turned 1 year old daughter. My daughter refused a search on her daughter unless the manager was present. He done it anyway. Nothing was found as nothing was even touched. My daughter has and still is extremely upset. The guard has broken the law. And I won’t leave this here… lidls best be prepared…

Snaktastic…Biltong

I bought a packet of Snaktastic Original Biltong from your Poulton-Le-Fylde branch . I can only say it must be the worst “Biltong” I’ve had. I don’t think the word ORIGINAL should be used. So disappointed.

Unsuitable dog toy

I purchased a toy for my dog, a hippo soft toy with, what I thought was, a solid ring around it, which lasted less than an hour as the material was obviously sub standard for a dog to play with. She had put her teeth through the ring and had bitten off two small pieces from it. Thankfully I was there to take it away before any of it was swallowed. I am shocked that they would sell something so obviously unfit for purpose. My dog has never been destructive with her toys but I do expect dog's toys to be sturdy and made of resilient materials to resist chewing not a soft, easily destroyed substitute.

CUSTOMER SERVICE….NONE,

CUSTOMER SERVICE….NONE,
After a problem had on the 29/09/22 with my Lidl plus app. I have sent 8 emails 3 times and 1to the CEO. Not a single reply has been received. On the website it shows a customer service clip…(obviously posed to look genuine). The phone lines are no better, recorded messages, with not a clue what the questions are. It has to be the worst service of any company. They can’t even register on a scale of 0-10. My score minus 10!

Belgian Biscuits

Dundee Lidl have Belgian biscuits wrongly labelled as "Empire" biscuits.
Prior to WW1 said biscuit was known as a German biscuit. After the outbreak of war the English re-branded it as the Empire biscuit but in Scotland it became the Belgian biscuit.
Come on Lidl , respect Scottish culture and call our confectionary products by their proper names!

Non existent deals

Both my son and I were at the doors of two different store to get just x1 when opened ready to grab the Lenovo Black Friday tablets.
And where were they?
Not in existence unless staff had purchased them or the store had never had them.
Still. It got me in to buy shopping, was this their idea?

I would be giving Zero if it was… possible as the matter in my review that I describe makes me furious.

I would be giving Zero if it was possible.
I like shopping in LIDL especially the big new style ones with aisles that you could drive a car down.
However I, as well as family and friends, are now boycotting them.
I travel to different LIDL shops due to my work around the South West of England. I buy on behalf of my family as well as for numerous clients. No problem. Recently my husband went to one in Yate, South Glos. on his way to a destination about 5 miles away. Got a bit of shopping and came away. No overstay. Then recently we got a notice from the company (Parking Eye) that manages their car park. Apparently in that car park they do things differently and they have, somewhere on the site, a machine where you key in your Reg. No. As we have been using LIDL shops for years without difficulty – usually 1.5 – 2.00 hours parking – we would never have expected that this one would be different.
Of course they say - if one looks into the question – that they do do things differently because of different local conditions. That is understandable. Nevertheless it is going to blind-side some people who are not local shoppers.
Given the number of LIDL car parks we have been in, and this being the only one that we have come across that operates in this way, the disparity means that some people are going to get caught out – admittedly not many. We have put it to the company that, while their reasons are reasonable, the system has this flaw. We can afford the fine and will pay it if our appeal is not successful but we have written to LIDL to point the problem out . They say it is it is between us and the Parking Company. Well we are making it a problem between us and LIDL. We don’t go near them ever again until they cough up the fine or intervene.
Reading the reviews this will likely fall in the same pattern: good produce at very good prices; hopeless public relations and communication.

Deluxe steak & ale pies

Bought 2 deluxe steak and old peculiar ale pies from the freezer in the Lidl Dundee. I am sorry to say that they were awful. Little or no gravy and the “steak” was all gristle. We got no steak at all. Very disappointed. A much anticipated meal ruined.

Could do better.

Fairy new user to the Lidl experience.
positives. Prices on dry stock tins etc good.
issues. Poor in-house stock some items are not available- basic items for weeks in a row.
no customer service desk and apparent lack of supervision of on-floor staff.
Checkouts long delay the bottleneck of every Lidl we have been in.
When we had an issue with an item {food item} no help from HQ as we did not keep the receipt. No receipt then you the customer is the issue and they will not help.
Overview - some lower prices than Big supermarkets but you do pay for this in overall customer care and speed of shop. Due to stock gaps, we find you need to go elsewhere to finish shop so you just as well do all the shopping elsewhere.

Pick and choose carefully for great bargains...

Pick and choose carefully for a few bargains.
Yes generally the quality of the food is not as great as the rest of the supermarkets but a little savvy shopping and going for the right items will save you so much over the big names in the long run. Usually I will stock up with a lot of stuff that is getting frozen in most cases. Here is some of my favourites....
Boneless chicken thighs. In fresh section but I buy in bulk and freeze. No difference between these and other supermarkets but really cheap.
Ben and Jerry copies. All nearly as good as the originals at a fraction of the price.
All of the frozen veg (but not the chips!)
Frozen paella (but its hit and miss if its in) we bulk this up with lots of veg.
Own brand choco spread (not quite as luxury as the real thing, but at 30% of the price, I'm not expecting it to be)

Generally the fresh is good as well, but can be hit and miss if you don't know what to look for.

And who doesn't love the random stuff in the middle aisles. Would you like a Welder or a Garden Chair with your food shop!!!!!

My review has been deleted Depressed

My review has been deleted!!

Normally I would be a happy shopper after hitting 200 on lidl plus ➕️ app with £10 reward. Now I hit the new 250.00 and on my next shop was only 1.50 discount. Its like being forced to spend 100.00 on hext shop to get £10 back.

This system favours the rich not the poor
During cost of living crisis why not keep your loyal customers and system the same. £10 for hitting £200 And then 10% off after you reach £250.00. Fairer during hard times.

Other stores looking more attractive now
