I don't think this will work, at least for me

If you need help, you need help. You don't want to spend your time from one phone call to the other, begging people to help you.
I did not start, I did not even talk to anyone about my issues, I just was redirected ten times and every time had to wait...
It's a no for me, I can't see how such service will help someone with depression or what so ever

DO NOT USE for mental health support

This is a service than advertises "clinical counsellors and certified coaches to help you through life’s work and personal challenges". I decided to reach out seeking counselling for my mental health. The experience was extremely detrimental. I ended up feeling worse than ever. I didn't receive a drop of empathy and it felt like the counsellor was reading something from a script.

Benefits continuation site is horrible

My review has to do with my education institution using this company for benefits continuation. I have nothing but stress when trying to pay my bill. The billing page is also difficult to understand and a case had to be opened just to show that my payments are up to date. Once again I had to call for help because I can't login even with the Login credentials I was sent by mail. The only reason for 2 Stars is because the Rep who tried to help me went out of her way and showed genuine concern. She should get 5 Stars. Once again a case had to be opened just to address LOGIN problems. I can't control who my school district chooses. I just don't wish the stress of dealing with their system on anyone.

LifeWorks is horrible and may be detrimental

LifeWorks is horrible and maybe even detrimental to people who need help. The after speaking to 3 different people I still couldn’t get an appointment for a counselor. No one there seems to be able to truthfully answer anything After allot of questions I finally found out they don’t actually have psychologists or any degree worthy counseling. Also They person on the phone let me know it’s only a short term problem solver service. Which I said what person calling for mental health or relationship problems etc can solve the problem in a few conversations. She said yea it’s really for people that just have a a bad day. I said false advertising because they act like they will help any employee or family of employee with mental health. Not the case and they are rude and non empathetic when you call. They are robotic and want all your info with an interrogation that would upset even a happy person. SCAM to my company!

Horrible counselling

I accessed counselling through Lifeworks after going through a personal crisis. I found the counsellor to be terrible. She referred me to an online support group she found on Google while we were talking and told me she was closing my file 10 mins into the second session. She didn’t seem to know what to do in the counselling session after the first phone call where she asked all the assessment questions. I did not feel like she was qualified based on my experience. I hope that I just had bad luck with my counsellor and that there are good ones employed that actually try to help people through difficult times in their lives.

Do not use this service

Do not use this service, my assigned counsellor was actually just an unhinged individual. I told her I was struggling with motivation and asked for practices to help with that. She told me about how kids in Iraq have to make carpets 1 thread at a time, and when they finish you can barely see each string. Made me actively uncomfortable with other advice that would completely ruin a person if they took it.

Zero service.

This outfit administers the pension plan for Canadian Blood Services from where I recently retired.
Called them multiple times to ask what was the status of my payments. Each time I was promised some information would be forthcoming and I would receive a call. Never once did they call.
I finally received my first payment after four months.
I called them to complain but surprise, surprise no supervisor was available to admonish but I was promised one would call me back. Am still waiting.
Hell will likely freeze over before that happens.
A very disappointing experience that indicates to me a company with no standards and zero accountability.
Shame on them.

One of the worst companies to deal with…

One of the worst companies to deal with. As a government employee, I have had to deal with LifeWorks at several occasions. Their system and representatives do not work for clients at all. There is no way to contact anyone to bring up a concern with them. Only two phone numbers on their website (no email or mailing addresses), and one of the phone numbers seems to belong to a crisis line, the other one for businesses!

I don't recommend their phone counselling services either. The counsellors lack knowledge and like most of other employees (such as disability case managers) they also lack professionalism. The company and its employees could be a lot more professional and better organiszed than they are.

Warning: Avoid Andrea Ferrero. Your LifeWorks experience will be skewed

My issue with LifeWorks is with a specific case manager, Andrea Ferrero. This is a courteous warning. She can be very unprofessional. At least in my experience she was extremely rude and did not represent the company itself. Be on guard if you cross paths with this employee. I recommend asking for another representative. I am extremely unsatisfied with how I was treated.

Want more stress? Call lifeworks

Colleague tried to find a counselor after a bad family situation and was set up with one a 6 hour drive from Vancouver. He tried again and told he'd have to wait weeks.
I tried the chat recently. I kept getting the message "please repeat your message". I will be strongly suggesting that my company drop lifeworks.

Worst EAP company I have ever dealt…

Worst EAP company I have ever dealt with I have support they two employers and they don’t care about anyone and there mental health. I connected with a councillor and there managements policy is x number of visits and see ya no further help. They tell you to get outside help but that’s nearly impossible or not affordable my councillor wants to help me but isn’t able to because they won’t let me make anymore appointments. Asked to speak to a regional manager and they had a supervisor who left me a message telling me to call back and talk to anyone 5 days later. They get paid no matter but for them it’s 3 visits and your done if your lucky they might extend you.

The worst company to deal with…

If I could give a 0...I would. The worst company to deal with especially when it comes to mental health where they won't cover you. Plus getting a hold of your case worker is a nightmare.

Reported an issue with their ‘perks’…

Reported an issue with their ‘perks’ which are not exclusive as they report, but just the standard or worse than existing offers from companies. Mainly they direct you to the website where the deal is available to everyone.

Issue acknowledged, referred to another department and closed without so much as a whisper. May suggest that there is an issue they know of h by it are not happy for people to highlight and they are not going to resolve it.

You really need a “0” rating for this…

You really need a “0” rating for this one!

For the past two years, I’ve been dealing with Lifeworks. I’ve called no less than 15 times, probably much more but Is have to check my log. I’ve spoken to as many reps and one supervisor. They keep giving me case numbers and “escalating” the case but absolutely nothing seems to resolve. TWO YEARS!

Morneau /Lifeworks got the Albertson’s account and made it so much worse than it already was! They cannot justify premiums they charge and keep saying I owe more than I owe, yet cannot tell me what they’re charging for. I’ve sent bank statements and copies of withdrawals indicating I’ve paid every month’s premiums in full, yet this other charge remains. No justification.

Now, they changed the site mid month so you cannot submit payment online. It’s heading toward the end of the month, and I want to pay, but they say I cannot do so by phone, only by snail mail, which isn’t always reliable. I’m sending payment but I’m also expecting that they will say they never got it, so it’s going to cost me extra plus a trip to the post office to request a written receipt.

Suggestion: Customer Service should be able to solve simple issues, not just pretend to escalate. Don’t offer to have a supervisor call, that has happened many times and only one “supervisor” actually called. She gave incorrect information, claiming that because of Covid, I wouldn’t have to pay my premiums. Stop passing the buck! Answer questions and resolve issues, and stop with the ridiculous promises and endless case numbers.

Outdated platforms, with features that don't work

Very outdated website and app, slow response times. They have 3 apps, two of which are just generic advice and mental health articles from other resources, and the third supposedly offers their Counsellor chat, and e-Counselling (email) booking services: neither of which work in the app.
I contacted support to let them know the chat/booking function wasn't working and they advised that its no longer offered in the app (or even via mobile browser -- then whats the point?); google search results show people have experienced this issue almost a year ago, so they haven't updated this app or removed a defunct feature for months. This must be the cheapest EAP service available in Canada, as this is the 2nd employer I've been with who uses them and its awful.
Counselling is limited to 3 sessions, 1 of which is your intake and may not include any work/help. The counsellor I last had was very good, but was very aware of the session limits and restricted our conversations greatly as a result.

No help whatsoever

I have been trying to get mental help for my partner and I for over a month now to no avail. This is the eap program my company provides to employees and I decided to use it. I keep getting referral delay notifications and it is extremely frustrating. This is a service that is supposed to help people navigate through life challenges but they cannot even provide the help they advertise. This is a horrible company that needs to understand that there are people that rely on them and they need to get it together. At this point my partner and I have looked for help elsewhere.

I have been involved with Lifeworks…

I have been involved with Lifeworks since being off sick with my work. I have no choice as it is the company that my employer utilizes. I have a legitimate illness and some mental health issues as well. After dealing with Lifeworks it has made the illness and the mental health 100% worse. The so-called " worker" assigned to me is not helpful and has a lack of empathy or care when dealing with me. They are unprofessional and useless. The idea of a compay to assist with sick employees could work however not with Lifeworks.
