The light used to be a good place to see a film at reasonable prices. Not now. No wonder the screenings are nearly empty. I will be going to another cinema in future
Disappointing attitude to customers
My 15 year old daughter and a group of other year 11 students visited The Light Sittingbourne last night to see a 15 certificate film.
Every one of them had their birth certificate with them, the couple with passports had them, a couple had their newly issued NI numbers.
Despite a plethora of id between them, 2 including my daughter who had a student id with her picture on in addition to her birth certificate, NI number (received this week) and her bank account opening documents(!) , were turned away. Eventually, after showing her student id to a different member of staff and asking why it was no good, my daughter was allowed in.
She was forced to buy a large drink despite only wanting a small one because there were no small cups!!
Then she found part of their group, who'd got in with earlier - with the same id as her but no hoops to jump through - had been given posters of the Film by the staff but she and another member of their group, were missed out.
Although they enjoyed the film, the entire evening was marred by their treatment by The Light Sittingbourne staff and not having their whole group there.
The Light were quick enough last year to use photos of the same group of teenagers as an online advert because they always go to films in fancy dress related to the film.
As a parent I find it disappointing in the extreme that a group of good kids can treated like this.
Bring your night vision goggles
Why is 20 minutes of advertising projected nice and bright when you need night vision goggles to see the actual feature? Because The (Twi) Light are scamming us by saving their energy bills and they know they can get away with it. Buy a big telly, some popcorn and cola. You will save in the long run. The Light has killed cinema for me.
DO NOT COME HERE
Terrible cinema do not recommend staff started shouting at me and swearing telling me to get out my 3 year old son also was crying after this experience please do not go to this cinema for your moral
Food low quality and expensive
Although the cinema experience was okay, the food served was low quality, and very expensive. £24.15p for two tiny thin, cold cheese and ham toasties, one, what looked like a kids size potion of chips, one tea and one coffee. We must remember, this is SIttingbourne and not Sloane Square.

We have monthly passes to the Light in Addlestone and we could not recommend this cinema more highly. The staff are incredibly helpful, generous with their time and very knowledgable, and the seats are so comfortable. There is also handmade pizza available to purchase which is delicious, and a fantastic Tuesday night quiz. I would recommend this cinema to anyone.

me and my partner had an amazing time bowling and playing pool. We were welcomed in with warm smiled and politeness, the staff were amazing and we had a wonderful night, id like to thank Kai who works at the bar for personally making our experience something to remember, we left with smiles on our faces.

Over the past few weeks my grandchildren have experienced the cinema, crazy golf, wall climbing and high ropes experiences. They have loved them all. My 7 year old grandson received 5 star treatment yesterday during wall climbing from Ashley, one of the supervisors , who even raced him up and down the walls! A very special experience for him - well done Ashley and thank you for your kind attention!
The Light Cinema - Cambridge
Extremely Disappointing Experience – Avoid Screen 7 and to be honest most of the other screens at all Costs
We visited The Light Cinema Cambridge on 20th July 2025 to watch the new Jurassic Park film in Screen 7 — and honestly, it was one of the worst cinema experiences we’ve ever had.
From the moment you walk into Screen 7, you’re hit with an unpleasant, dirty smell. The floors were filthy, and the general condition of the entire space was shockingly poor. The seats are another story — worn down, damaged, and many visibly stained. Practically every row had at least one seat in unacceptable condition. I’ve attached images to show just how bad it is.
What’s even more frustrating is that people have been raising the same issues in reviews for over a year, and yet nothing has changed. Clearly, management is not taking customer feedback seriously.
The IMAX screen is marginally better, but considering the high ticket prices, it still doesn’t feel like value for money. At best, it offers semi-comfortable seats — far from what you'd expect at this price point.
This cinema is seriously overdue for maintenance and a deep clean. Until they make real improvements, I would recommend avoiding it entirely — especially Screen 7.

The Light makes movies a regular activity, not a luxury
I cancelled my membership to the Light Cinema in Cambridge a while back, sulking about the emergency lights being too bright. It took about a week for me to regret my decision. With a Light membership you can see just about every film released in a week, and it'll cost less than a couple of tickets to one film in any of the other cinemas. Customer service and surroundings are great. Thanks Veronica for putting up with my moaning - I'll be renewing my card and I look forward to catching up with the latest movies.

I went to the new cinema light and it was amazing, duo seats, leather seats, very loud, good quality, tables between armrests and best of all retractable seats, plus ads were very short at the start, but overall it was an amazing experience , 5 stars

Unorganised, expensive and rude staff
We went to see what there was to do but there wasn’t a price board or any staff to help explain things in plain English. We ended up booking to play pool paid £12 and had to wait 20 mins for a table, when we had played for 40 mins exactly we was hounded to get off the table and I wasn’t able to take my last shot before the white ball was whipped away by a rude manager. I think there should be a better booking system with a grace period to finish your game and a price list of all activities. Everything seems a farce to book and it’s expensive to say the least.

cant give no star but thats how it was for me...couldnt get in as they dont take cash - the website says wants digital where possible, the 'not a bot' live chat said if pushed to say yes or no, that yes they do take cash, at the door its different. I guess to be upfront about not taking cash (from adults) would sound exclusionary. Apparently they do take cash from minors - they have the machinery - so have to conclude that yes, they are exclusionary of that proportion of adult population without digital money and/or skill

Phone use during films should be banned
The Light Addlestone doesn't have a policy of banning customers from using their phones during the film - so they do. This is really annoying. Apparently the cinema used to employ a person to stand at the front and explain about phone use but this has been dropped. Vue does a better job by having an on-screen notice before the film starts.
Top Hosts
The Light (Sittingbourne) Holly and the team were just fantastic from start to finish I organising our party - Nothing was ever too much trouble allowing us complete freedom in hosting the party we wanted.
Designated bar staff to replenish orders and a happy bunch of staff ready to help.
What more could we ask for ☺️
Would recommend to anyone!
Thanks Sittingbourne Team

Borderline scam and waste of money
Food menu said £3.45 for a 330ml (can) of coke.
All of us received a 200ml bottle for the same price. Absolute scam. Pizza is said to be 1000 calories but it's clearly store bought and takes about two bites per slice. Not worth it for £10+.
Pick N mix was also 20 quid for half a bag.
Only giving two stars because the cinema was nice.
More expensive than last time
Progressive overload of prices, scam.
Always amazing service and quality…
Always amazing service and quality set-up. Comfy seats, good prices and nice membership bonuses.
