Lingoda is awesome!

The app is very easy to use and every teacher I had was good! Most were excellent! They were friendly, punctual, and passionate about the materials and all of them added their own tidbits here and there. Also, all of the other students were friendly and respectful! It was wonderful to connect with other Deutsch learners from around the world.

The teachers are good but customer services…

The teachers are good and course structure are great. However the customer services are bad! They do not response to your questions, and they always find excuses to devalidate your qualification to complete the course in time in order to entitle for more classes.
Really disappointed with how their customer services and not really a platform to encourage you to take more classes.

Need more practice of vous form

I like the in-person lessons, I am motivated to work in advance to get the most out of them

What I don’t like is that the material is mostly in the tu form for you. Maybe in the workplace tu is ok, but it certainly isn’t outside of that. I would like more practice in using vous form

Hi Hilary, thank you very much for your valuable feedback.

Firstly, we’re really glad to hear that you enjoy the live classes with our teachers and that you prepare in advance. This is an excellent approach and helps maximise your learning progress and overall experience.

Regarding the learning materials, we completely understand your concerns.

Our materials are designed to reflect a wide range of real-life situations and communication contexts that learners may encounter, including both informal and formal interactions. This includes everyday conversations, social settings, and professional environments, where both “tu” and “vous” can play important roles depending on the context.

We aim to incorporate both forms throughout the curriculum, as understanding when and how to use each is an essential part of mastering the language. The “vous” form is particularly important in formal, professional, and polite interactions, and we recognize that more targeted practice in this area can be beneficial.

Please rest assured that your feedback will be shared with our responsible education team so they can review and continue improving the learning materials to maintain the high standard of our courses.

If you would like to share specific classes where you feel the “vous” or “tu” form could be handled differently, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Support Team via email at service@lingoda.com, as this kind of detailed input is very helpful for us to further improve and adjust specific lessons.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Excellent Learning Methodology

I love this teaching and learning methodology! You can easily follow the material, and everything is very well prepared. You can review the material before the lesson and after the lesson (but no homework nor learning from the classical language books), and there are also extra tasks and exercises. The teachers are very friendly, they guide you through the lessons, and they always give something more of themselves. I love it! 😊

Speaking practice WITH a set curriculum to follow

We all know plunging into speaking is one of the best ways to get fluent faster, but Lingoda is the only platform (from my experience) that follows a set 'curriculum' to make learning structured. I know Spanish isn't the hardest language for English/French speakers but I seriously became conversationally fluent (yes, I still make mistakes in almost every sentence but the point is I am no longer shy about speaking, I can maintain a conversation, and I genuinely enjoy it) in just two months with their sprint. I did the normal sprint, not the 'class every day' one... and even with that, I got to a really good level pretty quickly.

It's good for interacting, but it doesn't make you speak fluently.

I've been studying on Lingoda for four years, I've completed more than 220 lessons, and I have to say that I haven't achieved my goal of speaking fluently. Lingoda is useful for interacting with others in English, but it doesn't really help improve your language skills. I have finally decided to leave Lingoda.

Alberto, thank you for sharing your experience and for being part of Lingoda over such a long period of time.

We appreciate the commitment you’ve shown by completing more than 220 lessons, that’s a significant investment of time and effort.

At the same time, we’re sorry to hear that you feel you haven’t achieved your goal of speaking fluently.

Reaching fluency can be a complex and highly individual process, and progress often depends on a combination of factors such as practice outside of class, consistency, and personal learning style, and also your starting level. Our courses are designed to support learners all the way up to advanced C1 level, but the journey and pace can vary from person to person. That said, we understand how disappointing it can feel when expectations are not fully met.

Also, it’s great to hear that you found value in the interactive aspect of the classes, as speaking practice and an immersive learning experience is a key part of the the Lingoda method.

Rest assured, we take your feedback seriously regarding overall language improvement, and we will share it with the responsible team as it helps us continue improving our learning approach.

If you would like to review your classes or receive further recommendations on how to enhance your learning experience and outcomes, please feel free to contact our Student Support team at service@lingoda.com.

We’re sorry to see you go, but we thank you again for your time with Lingoda and wish you all the best in your continued language learning journey.

Great way to build a language learning habit

Joined the German two-month sprint and I've been enjoying my regular lessons with Lingoda! Lesson materials are well designed to cover vocabulary, grammar and communication, and I also found Lingobites (in-app exercises) helpful to recap what I learned in class.

One downside is that you can't really choose teachers for each lesson, as a teacher usually gets allocated after someone signs up for the scheduled class, and the assigned teacher can also change at the last minute.
Since each teacher has a different teaching approach and I liked some over others, it would've been nice if I had been able to select lessons with the teachers I liked.

In general the course is discreet but many times I found myself in courses with very lower level people ( overestimate their own German level) . I would like to have more chances of talking and less crowded people. Already+ 3 is hard to get enough talk opportunities

Reason for 2 rating is cancelation policy of minimum 24 hours is too long and is not adequately flexible to account for unforseen circumstances. I would recommend no more than 12 hours.

Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback, James.

We understand that unexpected situations can arise, and we are sorry to hear about your experience.

For our regular Flex subscriptions, classes need to be cancelled 72 hours or more in advance in order to receive the class credit back, or within the 30-minute immediate cancellation window after booking. We recognize that this may sometimes feel restrictive when plans change unexpectedly.

Your feedback is very valuable, and we will be happy to forward your suggestion regarding the cancellation window to the responsible department for their consideration.

If you would like our Support Team to review any of your recent classes or bookings, please don’t hesitate to contact them at service@lingoda.com
, and they will be happy to assist you further.

Strict rules make the Lingoda Sprint very risky and impossible.

I joined the Lingoda Sprint program to stay motivated and practice German every day. The concept is good and it definitely encourages you to study consistently.

However, my experience with the rules and customer support was very disappointing. On the very first day, I accidentally booked two classes on the same day. Because of the strict 7-day rescheduling rule and the lack of available days in between, I was forced to drop one class, which automatically disqualified me from the Sprint reward. I immediately contacted customer support and explained that it was the first day and an honest mistake. At that time, I could have even cancelled my contract during the trial period, but I chose to continue the program.

Despite attending classes consistently for 60 days and following all the other rules, Lingoda refused to grant the half price credit of €760 ( 60 group class)

While Sprint can motivate you to practice German daily, it becomes a very expensive program because Lingoda seems to do everything possible to avoid paying the promised reward.

Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling that the program was far more expensive than its real value. This is not a private session group class with 3-5 people around the world.

Thank you for you honest words, İlksen.

Firstly, we appreciate your commitment to the Sprint, and it’s great to hear that the program helped you stay motivated and practice German consistently.

However, we’re sorry to hear that the situation with your class booking on the first day was frustrating, and we are also sorry that your interaction with our customer support left you feeling disappointed. We understand how discouraging this must have felt.

The Sprint program is designed with very specific rules that apply equally to all participants, including the scheduling and rescheduling requirements. These guidelines are outlined in the Sprint terms before enrollment and are necessary to ensure fairness and transparency for everyone taking part in the challenge.

In this case, attending two classes on the same day or cancelling a class within 168 hours (7 days) before the scheduled start time are both considered rule violations, which are clearly outlined in the Sprint rules.

We would also like to clarify that rescheduling classes is not directly possible on the platform, which means a class first needs to be cancelled before a new one can be booked. If the cancellation happens within the 168-hour window, it counts as a Sprint rule violation.

We completely understand that mistakes can happen, especially at the start of the program. However, because the Sprint reward is tied to strict completion criteria, our team is unfortunately not able to grant exceptions once a rule has been broken, even if the rest of the challenge was completed successfully.

We are also sorry to hear that the Sprint ended up feeling expensive for you. We understand that this can be particularly disappointing if the main goal was to receive the 50% cashback reward upon completion of the challenge.

That said, we would like to acknowledge the dedication you showed by continuing to attend classes throughout the 60 days. Completing that many lessons is a significant achievement and a valuable step forward in your German learning journey.

Your feedback is important to us, and we will forward it to the responsible departments so that we can continue improving how we communicate the Sprint rules, platform functionality, and support to future participants.

Wishing you all the best on your language learning journey!
