Lloyds mini Newcastle sales experience

Went to Lloyds mini in Newcastle yesterday with my wife. We were looking to part ex our mini we had bought 3 years ago from them. The salesman’s enthusiasm was non existent with little to no engagement, passing my wife the lap top to look through existing stock. We ended up walking away and buying a better spec 5dr cooper s with loads of extras from Stratstones. Take note this was nowhere near what you strive for. Perhaps get some figures before hand as it was a pre booked appointment- perhaps ask what we are looking for so you have something to show us rather than hand us a lap top to scroll through with no interactions. At no time did we feel valued customers. You lost a sale. Stratstones were the opposite they engaged us and gave the impression they wanted to put us in a car.

On Tuesday I enquired about a mini on…

On Tuesday I enquired about a mini on line in Carlisle and received a call from Blackpool Lloyds mini. I informed the salesman that I would have to go to Carlisle to view the car and he said he could get it brought down to Blackpool for me to view. He asked me for a reservation fee of £250.which we paid to ensure the car was available for us to view. I then. Notice it says on your site reserve for £99. Okay no worries until the salesman rings to ask to come to view and take pictures of my car. He also brings a receipt and a paper showing the car the price And a deposit taken against the car (which we were told was a reservation fee over the phone which was returnable if we didn’t like the car.) at this stage we still had not viewed the car personally only on line. We rang three times yesterday and asked for our money back as we were concerned they were trying to tie us into a sale for a car we hadn’t viewed. This was not forthcoming and was told the car would be taken off reservation if we had our money back which we agreed to,but still no £250 back They then volunteered to being the car to us to view and we said no as we were not home and we would take our chance if it came off reservation. I was then sent a video of the car which in fairness is very nice but I still did not commit at any time to actually buy this car as I hadn’t seen it. So, We have agreed to go and view the car on Saturday but we still feel we have been pressured into this and as older people we feel a little vulnerable and don’t want anyone else to fall into the deposit/reservation fee trap. We have dealt with LLoyds for our last three cars at different locations and have never had this before . We just feel very upset by the whole performance .

Purchase a used hilux last year…

Purchase a used hilux last year thinking it was a good deal but Lloyds had used a garage that does not put advisories onto a mot. I had the car mot this year and it failed because of corrosion and rust causing structural damage Lloyds are not willing to compensate me for it all they say is they will repair it if possible at cost price to myself. Would never purchase a car again from them total crooks

All is not Bad at Lloyds.

Having given a review with 1 star for elements of my experience with Lloyd I now feel that I should also give credit where credit is due. Cain Charlton Jaguar and James Speakman Volvo thank you for a great experience when purchasing our cars. Also to Steven Whatman at Volvo who made sure my daughter Jessica was not left out with her new car. Thanks guys great service and we will certainly see you again. Lloyds Volvo South Lakes

Lloyds Volvo South Lakes - I have bought my last 3 Volvos from South Lakes because the reputation of PV Dobson was synonymous with excellent service and despite being over a 50 mile trip and not my closest dealership, it was always worth it. Not anymore, since being taken over by Lloyds, the service is appalling. I definitely won’t be recommending this dealership to anyone again. Very disappointing.

Had 2 jag's booked in for service for two months and out of the blue they phone me and tell me that they are not taking on any more new customers and that they are cancelling my booking as of now, they could have told me this at the point of booking or just honoured the booking

Lost hundreds of £ thanks to Dan Harrison!

I'm really disappointed with Dan Harrison who is based at the Carlisle branch. Having accepted an offer on my car, I had some questions regarding documents via Car wow so I called the branch twice to be told that I would get a call back which never came. I then came to find an email this morning being advised that Dan was retracting his offer as it took too long for my documents to come through and that he was on holiday last week (The reason why I was calling to get help with submitting them!) Now my car is valued £500 less which as anyone can imagine is a large sum of money in the current financial climate. I feel he has no empathy towards the situation and now I am left to go through the process of reselling my car!

Lloyds Land Rover York

Lloyds Land Rover York. Arranged for my 4th service an MOT on my Discovery. Received three different quotes with a range of £200 difference, Not a great start. After raising this issue they did honor the original quote which was the lowest (£700 combined service and MOT) This is about as good as it gets.
Having been bitten once by this dealer on a previous occasion, i suspected there would be additional items. Sure enough, advised the car had failed the MOT on a cut tyre which is fair. Quoted just over £380, Same tyre £290 on black circles, but just needed it doing. Total price just short of £1100.
Was "highly advised" to change the rear discs and pads as they were at 3mm and corroded. Quoted just shy of £1000 and also advised a second tyre was needed due to a nail which was not repairable, bringing the bill to just shy of £2.5K if i went ahead with their recommendations.

Advised the dealer not to go ahead with the second tyre and brakes and would seek a second opinion, due to my lack of trust. The dealer came back and advised can do brakes for £690 now, straight away a £300 discount, where did that come from and why are you trying to rip off customers if you can instantly wipe off 35% of the cost?.
Still advised them to leave it.

Had the brakes inspected by independent LR specialist and advised still 6-7000 miles on them with little corrosion and no evidence of any nail in the rear tyre!!

This is shocking behavior by a main dealer who seemingly are happy to extract the urine out of their loyal customers. Unfortunately not the first time i've had a negative experience with them.

Despite the car being great and i do love it, This latest round of buffoonery with this circus has let me with zero trust in the Lloyds LR dealer and service network and inspired to me to sell the car whilst it still has value and before anything major is needed. I have every sympathy for anyone who has to deal with this outfit with major issues.

I did ask for a valuation which i never received, chased on the phone a few days later and still nothing. Probably a good thing in hindsight!
Despite all the responses from Lloyds i see on this review platform about customer service being top priority, I'm afraid i totally disagree and you are very far detached from reality of your customer perceptions.

A great shame, fantastic vehicles, but save your money, go elsewhere, this is the absolute pits of a service and dealer network. I recommend to avoid.

Disappointed to say the least...

I have recently been considering buying a new car, so I went on the hunt and found a beautiful 2017 BMW X1 from Lloyd Motor Group. I paid the deposit to secure the car, and all was well. I stayed in touch regularly with Jonny the Salesman, which he was super lovely. Yesterday (11/10/2023), I got a text asking me to phone him, so I returned his call and got told the devastating news that the BMW X1 had a faulty rear axel which is too expensive to repair, and therefore they will not be selling the car to anyone, but instead putting it up for auction. The reason I am extremely disappointed is because I had actually sold my own car in the meantime, getting ready to pick up the X1. Now I am unfortunately left WITHOUT a car at all.

The thing I don't understand is, while on the phone call with Jonny, I asked why this wasn't detected beforehand, and got told that they are simply ''too busy'' and ''backlogged'' to check the cars before putting them up for sale and that he only noticed the grinding noise while driving it himself after I had already secured the car for myself. Surely the cars should get checked before being put up for sale, for reasons such as my experience.

I am now forced to look hard for a car which I'd like instead as that particular model is not the easiest to source.

Lloyd Colne Mini sales team not to be trusted

We viewed a 2nd hand Mini PHEV at Lloyd Mini Colne that we liked, but it had 4 previous keepers despite only being 4 years old, and had not been taxed for the last 6 months. When we questioned that, the salesman told us that it had initially been a demo vehicle, then was bought by someone who returned it a year later for another vehicle before the 3rd keeper bought it from them. The salesman told us that the 3rd keeper didn’t like the car and demanded their money back but returned it to them with a private plate on it. Lloyd Mini felt that they couldn’t sell it with the private plate, and so had to change it back to the original, meaning that a 4th keeper was added. This turned out to be a pack of lies, as a quick check revealed that the car in question had never been subject to a plate change. As we liked that car a lot, we asked the salesman to take a day to consider and come back to us with an explanation. Lloyd got back in touch with us with the explanation that the salesman had been thinking of another car and got confused. They might even have said sorry.

I’m not sure we ever believed them, but we were possibly blinded by the car, which was exactly what we wanted. So we agreed to buy it and negotiated a few items in with the price. Lloyd Mini Colne agreed to ensure that the navigation maps were up to date, to fit mud flaps and interior mats, to add an additional home charge cable, and repair a minor scuff in the paint on the front corner of the car.
They told us it would take a week to address those items and so, after paying in full, we turned up to collect our car a week later. Initially, it looked well presented, and the mud flaps had been fitted. However, it was obvious that the paint scuff had not been touched and, upon checking, there were no floor mats or the additional home charge cable as agreed.
We stated several times that this was not a good start with 3 of the 5 items that they had agreed to do, obviously not done! We asked when we could bring it back to get the paint scuff sorted, but they called in a mechanic, with a touch-up brush and asked him to sort it there and then. When questioned, the mechanic admitted that to do the job properly would take more time, and more than just a touch-up brush, but he did as he was told, and touched up the paint by hand, with no preparation first, so it was no wonder that it looked a bit naff. When we refused to accept that, another sales manager came in (how many sales managers do they have?), and point blank refused to do a proper job on the paintwork, stating that they did not have enough money in the car to do so. Even when we remonstrated that this had been agreed, he refused to budge. But then he started accusing us of being rude to his staff and swearing at them, with hindsight, obviously trying to wind us up. It seems the sales staff can’t cope with any criticism such as being told that they have done a poor job and should have done better, but we did not swear at them.

Well, that was the last straw, and so we demanded our money back, to which they agreed, and we walked away. We will credit Lloyd Mini with returning our money promptly, but have had a most dissatisfied experience dealing with their sales team and can only conclude that they are a bunch of two-faced, lying cowboys who can’t take any criticism and so obviously do not even want to improve.

Edit:
An apology is all very well, but you really need to commit to some additional training for your sales staff, starting with "don't lie to the customer", and following with "honour the purchase agreement".
To completely fail to address at least 3 (we never ascertained whether the Nav maps had been updated) of the 5 of the items agreed within the purchase beggars belief!

Excellent service

I purchased a used I Pace from Lloyd Jaguar Carlisle. Cain's customer service was outstanding, going above and beyond the call of duty to source exactly the right car for me. From my first contact, through my first visit to the dealership, to handover of my now car took several months, but Cain's service was professional and efficient throughout. On handover day, which had been very busy for the sales staff, he stayed long beyond closing time to make sure that I was totally happy with the car, and even contacted me whilst he was on annual leave, a couple of days after purchase, to make sure that all was well with it.

It is a shame that I couldn't have picked the car up from York (a two hour round trip) instead of Carlisle (a four hour round trip), but I understand that staffing levels didn't allow this. It is also rather strange that, unlike any car dealership whether franchised or not, preparing a set of number plates with my personalised reg on to go on the car once the V5 was received would have been at extra cost. These, though, are very small niggles in what was otherwise a very positive experience.

Lloyds 'Guardian Angels!'

Had new rear shock absorbers fitted by another garage but on drive home, the noise was awful, worse than when it went in. I phoned the mechanics who assured me that three of them had checked the car over and yes, there was a noise but if I wasn't happy then go to another garage, which I did.
I arrived with no appointment at Lloyds, the mechanic listened to me and then took it for a spin (so kind even without a booking) returned and then put it straight up on the ramp as yes, there was an issue! He found there was a dodgy bolt, in 45 seconds, which he replaced free of charge! Can you imagine?
I had my elderly parents over for a few days but needed to take them home on the M6 yesterday. The STRESS of having to travel in my car (with such a horrific noise) was very worrying.
I can not recommend Lloyds highly enough, their kindness, empathy and professionalism was outstanding! Thank you so much!

Today collected our brand new Volvo hybrid. We have been looked after by Lewis Clark throughout the process from first expressing an interest in a vehicle through to a final purchase. Purchased a vehicle from bmw Colne and I have to say it was honestly the best car buying experience I’ve ever had right from the moment we walked onto the forecourt where Dylan Scott introduced himself to us and what a very nice guy no pressure or pushing every question we asked he answered very knowledgeable treat us like we’d been friends for years he is a asset to the Lloyd group. The showroom was absolutely spotless in every way and the coffee was endless I can’t recommend bmw at Colne enough ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ will be back when due to change.

Dreadful experience purchasing a used…

Dreadful experience purchasing a used Jaguar I-Pace, from Carlisle.
Car had a demonstrable fault on the way home, and again in the days after, Business Manager likes to talk about customer 1st, but it’s all hollow words.
Refused to follow Jaguar Technical instructions to check for DC charging fault, in his words I’m not spending another penny on it.
Refused rejection of the car despite demonstrable fault inside 30 days, in contravention of my consumer rights.
Refused to exchange for another vehicle, under the terms of the Jaguar Approved Used sale, clearly the vehicle had a demonstrable fault that was not fixed to my satisfaction.
Fortunately the car was bought with Finance from Jaguar Financial Services, so we appealed to them for help in rejection,
Business manager discovered we had already paid off the finance and continually repeated the lie that the finance company couldn’t act for us.
Finance Company upheld our complaint in full and allowed us to reject the vehicle

Deal with the company at your peril !

Visited Lloyd all road in Carlisle…

Visited Lloyd all road in Carlisle today for the first time. Was greeted by a lovely receptionist who took time out of her busy day to chat to me. She even offered me refreshments. She was generally and overall a really nice person to talk to. I will be definitely coming back in the future because of her. Thank you

I purchased a car and all I have had is…

I purchased a car and all I have had is problems with it,I’ve spend nearly £800 in repair SO FAR!! The dealer showed no proof of service history to me last stamp service 2019,I just had new cambelt fitted as needed changing,I had to pay to get new batteries for the keys as wasn’t working,if your purchasing a new or used car from here DONT …this is real money im throwing away and I’m gonna end up spending more,don’t buy from here go to a proper dealership who will at least show you your cars history and check car before selling it on 😡
