Local Root has been a go-to source for kitchen equipment, cookbooks, and knife sharpening. Therefore we Cantabrigians are sad to see it leave Cambridge and move to Belmont. Realistically, it's only minutes more away so we will still see this great resource as part of our larger shopping plan. The knife sharpening service is superb---one day in and out. On top of all this, the staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. On a scale of 1 to 5, definitely a 5 with an exclamation point!

I brought in one of my two chef's knives to be sharpened and after getting home (a quick 2-day turn around) was so impressed by how easily it chopped and sliced I went right back with my second knife to get it sharpened!
Not only an excellent resource for knife sharpening, but also a nice place for kitchen and dining equipment and supplies.

I've had my kitchen knives sharpened a number of times at Local Root and they are returned promptly and on time every time. Pleasant people, prompt service and reasonable rates.

Wow, totally forgot how much better it is using sharp knives when you cook. Ready in two days, reasonable price, and outstanding work. Couldn't be more pleased.

I love to cook and am terrible at keeping up with keeping our knives well sharpened. Every year or so we take them all to Local Root, where they magically transform them back into best-knives-ever.

I brought two knives to be sharpened. They were returned to me on-time and super sharp! I brought the knives to the shop wrapped in cardboard and tape to avoid stabbing myself on the drive over, and the folks at Local Root were nice enough to give me a light travel cover for both knives on the ride home. This store is also full of high quality kitchen products, I will certainly be back!

Deep and topnotch selection of cooking items for any home cook, beginner or advanced, packed into a cozy space. Friendly staff. Knife sharpening service is pricey, but I've never had better.

This was by far the best knife sharpening experience I've had. Blades are razor sharp and sparkling clean after job.

I brought in a variety of knives that were pathetically dull for sharpening. They turned them around as promised, and I can't believe how sharp they are and what a difference it makes to work with them now. Thank-you, thank-you. I will be back.

Knives came back like new. (They are probably 15 years old now.) Great service! Plus the store has many beautiful one-of-kind items!

I was extremely pleased with the knife sharpening. I am a professional chef and some of my knives were long overdue with maintenance. I am happy to discover Local Root and will continue to use them for knife sharpening and shopping.

I had two knives sharpened, one of them being my best quality one with a bad ding in it, and the sharpening was excellent. I was very impressed and will be using them again as well as recommending them.

I dropped off my knife and it was ready in 2 days. The service was quick and the job was well done.

I thought I'd give Local Root a try at sharpening my knives. Some knives were really decent, and some were kind of ordinary. They all came back amazingly sharp. They each were like a different knife. Their prices were very reasonable, and they are now my go to place for having those sharpened again...maybe in 6 months!! Very knowledgeable staff.
