I've had the same four knives for over 20 years. They aren't as sharp as they were and two of them have gotten chipped over the past few years. I didn't think the chipped ones were salvageable. I took them in to Local Root to see if they could inject some new life into them. They came back better than new. The blades on the chipped ones are sharp and straight. The blades of all the knives are sharper than they have been in years.

I brought in two very dull knives. Within two days I picked up two very sharp knives. Local Root really knows what they're doing!

First time stopping in to Local Root. Was looking for a local knife sharpening service and Local Root came highly recommended. Brought in two 8 inch chefs knives to be sharpened on a Friday and picked up that Sunday in the afternoon. The knives were sent out from Wellesley to the Cambridge store as the knives were not physically in the shop when I originally went back to pick up. Otherwise, I was pleased with the service, my knives came back sharper than they have ever been, even sharper than when purchased. Nice polish on the finished edge. Reasonably priced, friendly staff, nice shop. Will be visiting Local Root again!

The owner of the store sharpens the knives with a few days turn-around - it's great work and great service. The store also has a lot of very nice (and lots of fun) kitchen supply items. The store is certainly worth a visit, and definitely worth using for your knife sharpening needs.

I've been looking for a reliable place to take my knives after moving to Cambridge and found great reviews online for Local Root - I took my Wusthof knives to be sharpened a few weeks ago. The staff did a great good and I will certainly be bringing them back again.

I've used Local Root to sharpen my knives on several occasions now and they've always come back within two days good as new! Prompt, reliable and professional service. Thank you.

My only question after getting my knives back was why the heck I waited so long! The sharpening was expertly done by someone who clearly knows his (her?) stuff and treated my knives with care. Service was speedy, a small lot behind the store made parking easy, and the price was right.

Excellent job sharpening, quick and reasonably priced for big knives.

The work was excellent and it fixed a broken tip of the knife. However, for normal sharpening, $22 is simply too much.
