Another revolutionary money grabbing…

Another revolutionary money grabbing scheme from Luas. I was travelling a month ago apx, tagged on my leap card (I didn't have any problems in my 11 years in Ireland as I always fairly buy the ticket), ticket control entered and bam, please step outside. I paid 45 eu. I was pretty sure I tagged, but ok I thought something'else might have appeared on the screen and I missed it. I didn't even appeal. So from that day I carefully look what is on the screen when I tag my leap card. Today again.I tagged it ON, registered with my own eyes it was tagged ON and went inside Luas. And what happens next, you guess already. Ticket controller came and - Step outside the Luas pls. 45 eu again. If it's not criminal it would be funny. Now, my friend told what they might be doing. Programming the machines NOT to register leap card taggings randomly . Like every 200th or similar so they keep the fine cash flowing in. So careful with these guys folks. If you have time always check on the big ticket machines if they really tagged you on. Very clever Luas, very clever. And of course, shame on you if you are doing that but I think you are because I freaking looked at that screen when it showed Tagged ON.

The luas is absolute tihs (backwards)

The luas is absolute sh1te. Every month the luas closes down at least 5 times across basically the whole line. There are not enough luases the majority of the time so you wait like 10 or 15 min average which is really bad, especially when it is really hot. Because of the lack of luases you have to sqeeze into the smallest possible space. Half the time if you are on a luas to Brides Glen or something it will go out of service and you will have to wait for 30 mins or more. I made an account just to tell people that the luas is horrific. Make sure to never use it if possible.

Horror in Luas

Absolutely has turned into the worst…
Absolutely has turned into the worst service by far in Europe.
No reliability nor accountability.
If one tram is offline the whole city locks up and they will opt out of letting you know before you buy tickets as no announcements based on disturbances to service are made.
They smoke right on the train, they put their feet on the seats, the inspectors are rude.
I cannot stress enough how bad this service is again please avoid.

Parking

Customer care re: Parking. Paid for parking and it showed the wrong registration so I cancelled but payment went through. Paid again 2 minutes later. Asked Tramdev for my money back but they said "we don't refund for incorrectly inputted registrations". So their machine is super glitchy and its obvious that nobody pays twice in a 2 minute span and they won't refund. They keep it like scammers do. SOLUTION: dispute o Revolut who gave me my money back.
Doesn't make Tramdev look good.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience. Luas who do you hire ? I got a fine for not tagging off as it was more then 90 mins after I got off the tram I assumed when I touched the machine that I was charged. I didn't look at the machine my bad. Honest mistake. On the tram staff was aggressive and rude demanding name address when I was sure at that time that I paid my ticket, didn't have WiFi on the phone so could not check what happened on my leap card , lady kept repeating give me your name etc and I said I won't give her anything before I understand what has happened as I tapped my card on the machine, we got off the tram : she said I can pay now 45 and appeal. I paid stupidly and got home sent an appeal and then educated myself that I couldn't appeal to what I accepted by paying ...sounds right but in a stress we don't think logically especially when surrounded by extremely bully staff who treats people like thieves , like they themself never made a mistake.
The most disappointing thing was that she lied. LIED that I could appeal knowing that I wouldn't be able ... She didn't say it to deescalate anything there was nothing to deescalate as I was confused but she lied to get payment. Maybe they get some percentage ....Luas you should put sign at every stop to tag on and tag off so it's visible because that's what you prey on from honest working citizens or tourist who are not well Informed. Also TRAIN your people to discern between people. Not to deceive lie and be aggressive ... Very disappointed

Security focuses on fining tourists

The security staff ACTIVELY look for tourists who are unaware that the trams that run on rails in the streets require riders to tap their Leap card on a card reader at the tram stop before boarding the tram vs on the tram itself (unlike the busses and trains) and to tap again when they get off. Failure to do this may earn you a €45 fine or even €100.

My wife and I asked two black clothed tram security workers if we were at the correct location for the destination we wanted. They said yes and asked us if we had Leap cards. We did and we showed them. Once on board the tram and underway, they scanned our cards and said we owed a €45 fine for not tapping in before we boarded.

There's no lienency or grace. It seems the Luas system is designed to ensnare the unsuspecting and ignorant tourists to make up for the real scofflaws that don't pay for rides.

Ireland and it's people were awesome except for the those that conspired to create and operate the Luas Leap card system and it's zero tolerance policy around tapping in and tapping out. The tram riding process isn't well documented in public. It might be online but I didn't procure my card so I can't comment on that.

My advice, walk. It's better for all aspects of your health vs letting a little Luas infect you.

Unreliable and Unrespectful

Unreliable. Using unfurtonately because I don't have other options. Long GAP in essential rush hour. TRAMS departing early and not showing on the App or Time schedule Toten. Its unrespectful to people that needs this transport to work.
I've been using for a long time this transport and it is depresfull. The redline for saggart is a shame at rush time, few times 3 trams for tallaght and a wait of 15 min for a saggart tram in Belgard or City Centre.

Terrible customer service

I called the Luas customer service because top-up was unsuccessful; money was deducted from my bank account but never added to my balance. I can only say they were incredibly rude and unhelpful, very shocking for a customer service. No one who works there is actually interested in helping you, it is like they all hate working there. Will never call these people again.

I can confidently say this…

I can confidently say this transportation is unreliable and will make you lose your job with the transport ever.

I leave the house at 7.30 for work and still get there for 9.30 because delays are ridiculous you people are not taking your job seriously.

They need to be more trams in the mornings I shouldn't be waiting 10 mins on the Luas in the morning and packed like sardines due to delays.

Fined due to incorrectly set charging system

Had to get from Citywest to Dublin city centre and back and decided to use public transport, and was stopped on my trip back by Luas security that stated my leap card was not touched. As I knew that touched I tried to explain but was just told that I didn't touch on purpose... Hearing it in publis when knowing I did the right thing wasn't pleasant at all. Was asked to get off and pay the fine. As I was refusing Gardai wer called, but were not coming. Meanwhile security agent showed that from his perspective I didn't touch - and saw that I had two touches at 1 hour 50 mins inbetwee which proved I touched on boarding, but forgot to touch off when existing. I knew you can travel 90 minutes then are charged again, so didn't even consider that my second touch will be considered as a touch-off and as I rushed to the train didn't observe what screen showed. So in the end I agreed to pay the fine just to return back to work. Then appeled it to Luas and got no reply. So sent an email to verify and was replied that was decided my appeal was unsuccsessful. I was using periodically Luas service and got very disappointed of this attitude to convict from the start and not accept any explanations. Especially the charging system doesn't seem to work properly if after 110 minutes from the first touch it considered that I touched off.

Physical attacks by teenergers in Luas

I'm writing to express my concern and disappointment with the lack of protection and security for travelers on the Luas, particularly between Broombridge and O'Connell Street. I have witnessed multiple incidents where children around 12 years old have been attacking tourists and passengers from other countries. This is unacceptable and has happened repeatedly.

There seems to be no proper checking or security measures in place to prevent such incidents. As a result, passengers are left feeling vulnerable and unsafe. It's disappointing to see that no action has been taken to address this issue despite its frequency.

I hope the relevant authorities take immediate action to address this concern and ensure the safety and security of all passengers on the Luas.

Today

Today, October 17, 2024, the first Luas leaving Broombridge station simply did not come and left us workers without an answer until the next one, which was 20 minutes later at 5:50. This happens frequently and I think it is disrespectful since the first Luas is always taken by people who are going to work. The least they should offer to us who are the last to arrive would be to be punctual.

RUDE LUAS DRIVER

I am a nurse, whiles going to my shift and was late, I entered the luas without tagging, just to get to work on time, I bord the tram at Red Cow, and got down at Kylemore to tag my leap card, whiles I pleaded with one of the passengers entering to hold the gate for me. After tagging and entering the luas, the driver came from his seat, shouting rudily on me and instructed the security to give me a fine, I tried explaining myself, and he wouldn't listen, I was running late for work, I had to get down, and pay the fine, and get the next luas to work, my problem is not the fine, but the driver's attitude, this is not fair, as a result, I was late to work, and the driver's rudeness towards me made me emotionally unstable, I had to be strong for my patients. This is not fair, We are working for the government, paying taxes, don't we deserve better treatment?
