The "Super"Macguys -

Great service!! Expert advice!! Great communication!!
Took my 27" Imac 2014 in to the Macguys when my computer would not power on. After running all the necessary checks with the cable and rebooting method. It was necessary to open the Imac up.
Before opening it up, they clearly stated the cost to run a diagnostic (£99 non refundable deposit).
They clearly told me the work that needed to be done and the cost. The deposited fee for the diagnostic, would be deducted from the Total cost of the work.
Very Clear.

They changed the logicboard, cleaned the inside and also cleaned the screen. They guarantee their work for 3months.
Great local service, with great reputation for everything Apple related,
So far after 2 weeks with the return of my IMac, it works as before, would use the Macguys again.

After a Month of Delays, My iPad Came Back Worse Than Before

I took my iPad Air to MacGuys for liquid damage repair after being told they would run a diagnostic to determine the issue and whether the repair was worth doing. Before leaving the device, I also specifically asked if a replacement screen would be original, and was told that it would be and that no one would be able to tell that the device was opened and repaired.

After the diagnostic, I was told the screen was the only affected part and we agreed on a repair costing £181 after deducting the £99 diagnostic fee, for a total amount of £280.

When I collected the iPad, the screen colours were very washed out and both the microphone and power button were not working. Only then was I told the installed screen was actually an aftermarket one, not original as previously stated. I returned to the shop and was told they would replace it with a genuine Apple screen and fix the microphone and power button at no extra cost.

Over the following weeks I had to repeatedly chase updates while being told they were waiting for parts. After more than a month, they finally said additional water damage had been found and that the power button connector on the logic board was burned and could not be repaired.

This raises a major concern: the £99 diagnostic was supposed to identify this from the start, yet the fundamental issue was only discovered at the very end.

They offered a partial refund but wanted to keep the £99 diagnostic fee. When I went back to the shop, I also discovered they had reinstalled my original damaged screen without informing me, and the iPad would no longer turn on because the logic board had been calibrated to the replacement screen they had previously installed. This decision was made without explaining the consequences or asking for my approval.

After more than a month of delays and constant chasing, I was given back a device in worse condition than when I first brought it in.

Overall, a very frustrating experience with poor communication and lack of transparency. I strongly recommend reading the one-star reviews beforehand, as many describe very similar issues.

11 Days, No Communication, and Incorrect Information

I took my laptop to Macguys in November for a broken screen. In December, the screen broke again. I returned to Macguys fully aware that the issue might be due to physical damage rather than a faulty replacement screen.

I was told the laptop would be sent back to the supplier for assessment, with no timeframe given. After a week with no communication whatsoever, I went back to the shop myself. I was told they would contact the supplier and “expedite” the process. After another 72 hours passed with no update, I returned again. At this point, I was told the repair was covered under warranty and that I would receive my laptop the next day — 11 days after first handing it in. I was also told the delay was due to them being “very busy in the new year.”

It’s worth noting that all progress only happened because I repeatedly chased them; otherwise, nothing seemed to move forward.

Just three hours after being told it was under warranty, I received a call saying this was incorrect and that I actually owed £300 for the screen, plus a £100 service fee, plus VAT. After 11 days of waiting and being given incorrect information, I was understandably unhappy. I refused to pay the full amount and offered to pay £300 to partially cover the screen cost, given the excessive delays and extremely poor customer service.

They agreed to remove the £100 service fee, leaving a total of £350, stating that despite being in business for 24 years, they “couldn’t absorb any cost” for their own mistakes. I eventually agreed to pay the £350 but said I would leave an honest review based on my experience. At this point, the owner refused to carry out the repair altogether.

This was particularly disappointing as it was already my second negative experience with them — on a previous screen repair, they had disconnected the WiFi antenna.

I took my laptop to another repair shop, where they immediately confirmed it needed a new screen. It was fixed in under 24 hours and cost significantly less than even Macguys’ discounted price.

I strongly recommend reading other reviews and researching thoroughly before using this company.

Fantastic service

Fantastic service! I thought my laptop was a gonner after the office IT dept and Apple told me it was impossible to restore but Macguys managed it in 24hours and at a reasonable cost. I’m so happy!! Would absolutely recommend.

Great customer service

Great customer service. They were able to fix my old cinema display monitor for the amount quoted although the problem was more complex than originally thought. Very friendly, I would use them again.

Excellent Professional Expertise

MacGuys quickly resolved some difficult technical problems with email in my Apple laptop. The level of service was excellent and at a fair price. The member of staff was polite and helpful. Highly recommended. This was my second good experience with this company within a month.

Good in-person service

Sorted my mac quickly and diagnosed the problem. It still overheats a lot but its stopped freezing so that's what I needed. In person service was great. Contacted them by WhatsApp and email for advice on a programme I needed to install for work and they never got back to me which was a shame. I'd still recommend if you need something fixing but I went elsewhere for computer advise.

Amazing service

Amazing service, I cannot recommend them enough. They were able to fix both of my macbooks in under a week- one with a new screen and the other which was quite badly water damaged (don't leave electronics near toddlers). I was unable to pay for both so collected one, and the team at macguys kinda held the second for me until I was able to pay over a month later. They were very patient and understanding with me despite them having to front load costs of repair. I cannot thank the team enough! I would highly recommend them. Trustworthy, professional and compassionate company.

Untruthful and over priced

Total waste of time, gave them an iPad and was told it needs an an IC, they wasted 2 weeks, I called and was told that they just received the IC and someone will call me later today. Well that also never happened.. so I went after a day and took my iPad back which was not fixed. They quoted me £150 and I had it fixed from a high street shop for £60.00. Wasted 3 weeks for nothing. Plus their receptionist blatantly lied. And I didn’t even get an apology.

Trustworthy and professional team, great experience

My MacBook had a keyboard issue and the team at Macguys fixed it very quickly, very well (I can’t see any difference in my laptop from before the issue!) and for a reasonable price compared to the majority of other shops around. I really appreciated their communication, professionalism, experience and promptness. Highly recommended. I definitely will go back if I have any other issues with my Apple products.

Friendly service and effective repairs

Within the last few months MacGuys have resolved an issue with my iPad power supply and replaced and upgraded the hard disk on my iMac. Very friendly, upfront and honest about costs, and effective repairs. Would definitely recommend.
