Appalling service - Sold an unsafe scooter and blamed me for their factory defect

I purchased a Metro Glide 300 scooter which arrived with a frayed, defective brake cable.

The company has now rejected my return and is actually blaming me for the damage simply because I didn’t realize the cable was frayed the moment I opened the box. As I am not a bike professional, I shouldn't be expected to spot a technical mechanical fault immediately, yet they are using my lack of "professional knowledge" as an excuse to claim I caused the damage myself. This is a clear factory defect and a major safety hazard that they sent out to a customer.

To make matters worse, the customer service from the Madd Gear representative, Lindsay, has been absolutely horrible. She was unprofessional, dismissive, and completely unhelpful.

They are refusing to honor the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and are trying to force a broken, unsafe product back on me. Avoid this company at all costs—they do not care about customer safety and will blame you for their own poor quality control. Wish I read reviews before purchasing from here, absolutely horrible

Dont buy from this company bad support! Unethical..Brought two new scooters from them for…

Brought two new scooters from them for Christmas gifts to our daughters, one was great assembled it no worries works great but the other one came pre assembled and has major issues it feels like the brakes stuck on all the time but being a fixeruper kinda dad I see it's not the problem it's the wheel bearings. So we contacted them via support email and it took them days to reply then asked for a courier pickup then got no reply. so they want us to pay for shipping back to auckland! Completely against the consumer law.

Misleading information

This review is not about product performance—it is about consumer trust and compliance.

After purchasing a Metro Glide 300, I attempted to register it for warranty and found that the product was not recognised in the company’s own registration system, requiring me to select a different product instead. This made it impossible to confidently register the warranty for the item purchased.

The issue was compounded by packaging that advertised a free gift upon warranty registration and review. After encountering repeated system errors, I was logged out with no confirmation or follow-up, leaving no clarity as to whether the warranty or the advertised offer was valid.

In addition, while researching this issue, I noticed what appears to be a significant number of highly generic, repetitive online reviews, which further contributed to concerns about misleading representations being used to influence purchasing decisions. When combined with my direct experience, this pattern raises serious questions about transparency and authenticity.

Under Australian Consumer Law, warranties and representations must be clear, accurate, and reliable. This experience demonstrated inconsistencies, questionable promotional practices, and poor after-sales support, which significantly undermined my confidence in the brand.

I will not be purchasing from MADD Gear again and recommend that other consumers proceed with caution and consider the after salse support before making a decision.

Madd Gear Kruzer 200

Purchased Madd Gear Kruzer 200 for my 8 year old daughter. She chose it, telling me the "quality was best". Out of the box and ready in 10 mins. Really well built. Solid and rides really smoothly. She'll be the envy of her school mates. Very pleased!!
