Caution: packaging not 100% plastic-free or compostable as they claim

I like the lip balm itself. Tried the coconut and it had a lovely texture and scent. Unfortunately the site claims their packaging is 100% plastic free and therefore can be composted. But after some use, a layer of lamination started peeling off the tube from repeated capping/uncapping. I reached out to customer service via email but they wouldn't give me a straight answer. After their first response, they never got back to me. In their own words it's PLA "and not conventional plastic". While true, a bioplastic is still plastic and not compostable in many if not most municipal facilities. This is misleading if not entirely inaccurate advice for disposal coming from a company that claims to be environmentally friendly. I want to like this, since it is still a reduction in plastic, but comes across as greenwashing—similar to "compostable" plastic compost bags. I can't in good conscience purchase this again.
