Deep Disappointment Regarding Security…
Deep Disappointment Regarding Security and Management Communication - Maldron Hotel Finsbury Park
We stayed at the Maldron Hotel Finsbury Park (a member of the Dalata Hotel Group) between September 9th and 16th to settle our daughter into a university in London.
First and foremost, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the hotel staff who quickly called an ambulance when my wife suffered a severe respiratory crisis due to intense stress. Their humane and rapid response was invaluable to us.
Unfortunately, however, we experienced a process at the management level that deeply saddened and victimized us. During the room change and rebooking procedures, £2,500 in cash, which had been set aside for our daughter’s academic year expenses, was accidentally left inside the previous room’s safe. Although we realized the situation and informed the hotel just one hour after our departure, the amount in question was reported as not found and has not been returned to us. The situation was immediately reported to the Metropolitan Police, and the official investigation is currently ongoing under Crime Reference Number 01/8059400/26.
What distressed us as much as our financial loss was the subsequent attitude of the hotel management and upper administration. None of our emails have received a response, and not a single update or even a courteous well-wish regarding our situation has been shared. As a family whose financial history was meticulously examined during the UK visa process and who values integrity deeply, we found this distant and indifferent approach of the hotel management entirely unprofessional.
We strongly advise future guests to be extra cautious with their valuables.

Excellent hotel!!!
Excellent hotel and very dedicated staff. The Hotel is located in a super location near to the beach and few minutes walk to the town and about 15mins stroll to the rail station.
Dominic was very helpful right from the word go.
I would certainly stay there again.
Well done to all the team:)
Horrible Costumer Service
Very poor experience with The Maldron in Manchester Cathedral Quarter.
A few months ago, I made a weekend reservation at The Maldron via Booking.com, as I was travelling to Manchester with friends to take part in a swimming competition. Upon arriving in Manchester, I realised that I had mistakenly booked a room at the Maldron Cathedral Quarter rather than the Maldron City Centre, where I had stayed the previous year for the same competition.
As soon as I realised my mistake, I contacted reception and asked whether my reservation could be transferred from the Cathedral Quarter to the City Centre. I was told that this was not possible because the reservation had been made through Booking.com.
As I was already at the City Centre hotel, I therefore booked a new room there, as this had been my intended hotel all along, and requested that my original reservation at the Cathedral Quarter be cancelled. I also asked whether the cancellation fee could be waived, as permitted as an option through Booking.com, explaining the circumstances and, importantly, that I had already made a new booking at another Maldron hotel in the same city. Unfortunately, this request was denied.
While I fully appreciate that the original booking error was mine, I find the handling of the situation extremely disappointing. I struggle to understand why, in these circumstances, a four-star hotel chain could not make an exception and waive the cancellation fee when I was not attempting to cancel my stay altogether, but simply needed to move my reservation from one Maldron property to another in the same city.
I would also appreciate an explanation as to why it was not possible to transfer the reservation in the first place. Given that both properties are part of the same hotel group, I would have expected there to be some flexibility in dealing with what was, ultimately, a genuine booking error.
I hope you will review this matter and reconsider the cancellation charge, taking into account the fact that I made a new booking at another Maldron property and remained a paying guest of the group.
I look forward to hearing from you and receiving an explanation of how this situation was handled, as well as confirmation as to whether the cancellation fee can now be waived and the money paid towards my original reservation reimbursed.
I have tried obtaining a reply via email but have had no success so far.
⭐ Very concerning experience

Maldron hotel ,Cathedral quarter
Salford,Manchester
I was in a frightening and vulnerable situation during my stay and approached hotel security for help and somewhere safe to go. Despite explaining that I had been assaulted and that I was being followed, I was repeatedly told to leave or go away . Staff also witnessed my belongings had been damaged in the hotel room and did nothing to help.
What has concerned me most is how my complaint has since been handled. My experience has been repeatedly downplayed and I have felt belittled throughout the process. I was also told that I had been offered police assistance, which is simply not true. When I challenged this, I was told, “You could have called the police yourself .” I found this incredibly upsetting and felt victim-blamed when I was already highly distressed.
I am sharing this because I believe the hotel needs to seriously review its safeguarding procedures and the conduct and training of its security staff. I would not want another vulnerable person in a dangerous situation to be treated the way I was.
Very poor experience with Maldron Hotel…
Very poor experience with Maldron Hotel Kevin Street.
Despite being told in writing there would be no further manual attempts to charge my card, they continued trying to take different amounts. The attempts included £172.78, £259.17, £431.95 and £658, totalling £1,521.90.
I had already made substantial payments and was simply asking for a clear breakdown of what was actually owed. Instead, I was left chasing explanations while further payment attempts were made. Poor communication, poor handling of payments and not what I would expect from a hotel group of this size.
maldron hotel newcastle
We have just left maldron hotel in Newcastle. Overall a convenient stay. When we entered the room, i noticed that the room was dusty as though it had been made up days/weeks ago. The housekeeping on the first day 15/7 was so bad. None of the items used were replenished. We had to ask another employee for a second toilet roll. The garbage in the room was not emptied. Yesterday's housekeeping 16/7 however was excellent. All garbage was emptied, all replenished, all towels changed even though not requsted and fresh and done both early and efficiently. We had dinner the one night, the papardelle, was sold as a tasty filling dish. Was not and the whole meal cost over 70 GBP. We definitely do not recommend and will not be back to this hotel.
Excellent party night in Maldron Hotel, Derry.
We were planning a party for our autistic son's 40th birthday and had approached several hotels in advance for the relevant information to decide our venue. We called at The Maldron and were able to speak directly to their events manager Chiree that day.She explained what options were available, showed us their function room and then gave us plenty of time to get back to her to make a final decision for the party night. Nothing was a bother to her and we all had a tremendous night. All the staff on the night were very friendly, the food was excellent and DJ Kevin played all the songs that were requested of him which helped make the night such a memorable occasion.
Newlands cross Dublin Amazing 1st class experience
Newlands cross Dublin - 2 night stay with our little boys in a family room.

Steph & Shully breath of fresh air
Newlands cross , Came back to the Maldron after a long day and was instantly lifted by Steph and Shully. Their humour, friendliness, and genuine enthusiasm make such a difference. I’ve stayed here countless times, and it’s always the staff that make it feel like home.”
A truly complete service, parking, eating, sleeping
Stayed at Dublin Airport hotel. Great location. Easy parking. 5 min walk to Terminal. We had meal the night before and a Full breakfast before check-in. Very helpful staff throughout our visit.
Well done to Padma for her service.
Excellent hotel.
We have visited this particular hotel on previous occasions, since first being introduced to it by our son. This was our fourth visit and once again the quality of room, service and food was excellent. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. Breakfast is excellent and we ate in the restaurant each evening, again the food was excellent and we received first class service from Valerie and Jake. Thank you.
on line check in £1.20 ? WHY?
Lovely hotels but on line check in a real faff - especially if travelling around - if I've paid for the room in advance why do I need to pay £1.20 on my card - no explanation but no choice - don't want to arrive and find my booking has been cancelled.
Excelent clean good services
We had afternoon tea at Newcastle…

I had being staying in the Maldron…
I had being staying in the Maldron Oranmore for over 16 years on business in Galway city every month . I found the staff Brilliant and the food good but I was very disappointed that they decided to change their corporate criteria which meant that I would have to stay alot more then once a month. I stay in hotels throughout the country and I have never come across this before. Other hotels I stay in around the country are very happy with my business and offer me their corporate rate. I feel that the Maldron has no loyalty to their customers and I will be staying elsewhere going forward.
Dean in the Maldron Hotel, Sandy Road, Galway
My husband and myself stayed in the Maldron Hotel, Sandy Road, Galway from Friday the 12th December to Sunday the 14th December.
Well, what an experience. Dean was simply the best. So friendly and helpful. Couldn't do enough for us and the other customers.
His professionalism showed as he showed his high expertise. Dean's standard of service was exceptional. You are a huge asset to this hotel Dean.
The girls that were in the breakfast room in the morning were brilliant. Smiling and so helpful too.
Overall, 10 out of 10 for everything in this hotel. We will be back
Birthday stay for our daughter
Just back from a 3 day stay in Liverpool, hotel is quite nice and central to everything. Rooms are extremely small hardly room to move in them and drink prices at the bar are extortionate 12.50 for a glass of wine. Had booked the birthday surprise package for my daughters birthday advertising balloons covering the ceiling in your choice of colour a happy birthday sign a card and chocolates for 40 pound.....got 14 balloons in a colour I didn't choose no birthday sign a compliment slip with a note written on it and 4 chocolates in a tiny box......very underwhelmed and disappointed would have cost me about a fiver to do myself so don't recommend this....breakfast was fab also paid 35 pound for late check out that I thought was a bit much also but hey that was my choice.....would I stay again probably not as the location was the only great thing about it
Throughly enjoyable
We recently stayed in the family suite at the Maldron Hotel in Brighton and loved every moment of my visit. The suite was spacious, comfortable, and perfect for our needs, with thoughtful touches that made our stay delightful.
What truly stood out were the staff. Every single person we interacted with was warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. A special mention has to go to Hima, who was absolutely brilliant, friendly and attentive, as well as the gentleman who helped with our luggage and the gentleman who showed me alternative rooms for future stays. They all seemed genuinely committed to making sure we had everything we needed.
Overall, our stay was fantastic from start to finish. I would highly recommend the Maldron Hotel to anyone visiting Brighton, especially families looking for comfort and great service. It is located in the midst of everything yet tucked away enough to be perfect for those of us who wanted to be out, but also value a good night's sleep. I called afterwards with two minor suggestions, a doorstop and an additional full length mirror, which were welcomed. We cannot wait to return.
