Bait and Switch

Advertised a product at a reasonable-but-not-mental discount of c45%, took my money, then cancelled it leaving me waiting 10 days for my cash back. By way if apology offered a discount code which was already readily available to anyone. Vendor to avoid, if they behave like this they are probably capable of sending counterfeit product.

Cannot be trusted

Cannot be trusted - took my money, then cancelled the order but whisky is still in stock but they have now doubled the price. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Now I have the hassle with my bank to get my money back. This company cannot be trusted !!!

A company that cancels accepted orders. Avoid!

I understand that this Oban might have been mispriced. However, I had a confirmation email saying "Thank you for your purchase! Hi [my name], we're getting your order ready for delivery. We will notify you when it has been sent." and payment was taken. A company should cancel an order due to a misprice before sending confirmation emails and taking money as, in my mind, this is the point at which they have entered a contract to deliver the goods. Will not use again, their "correct" prices are no better than Amazon's.

Mispriced whisky whiners

You may have noticed a vast number of 1 star views in the past day.

Oban whisky was offered at around half price and this was picked up by a well known discounts site.

Many people, myself included, jumped on this deal but it was mentioned by many that it was probably a misprice.

Later in the day, an email from the company explained that there had indeed been an error and that, as is their right under consumer law, they cancelled all orders and instigated a refund.

Cue mass bleatings about the crooked dealings of this shameful company and how they had been robbed.

I will admit that the way credit companies refund payments can cause a delay but this is not the fault of the seller.

Blatant whining by folk who took a flyer on a misprice which didn't come off.

Some you win, some you lose. This attack on this company is totally unfair

Poor customer service from a massive global company

Poor customer service from a massive company with global reach.
Same story as other reviews that Malts cancelled my Oban 14yo order because of a pricing error, the website should've never authorised order or payment to be processed, and so they've doubled the inconvenience of cancelling the order and withholding my money for up to 10 working days.
The email notifying me of the cancellation had the cheek to say the whisky is available to buy at the higher price.
I can understand a small independent business not honouring their mistake, but Diageo's revenue is in the multi-billions.
My business will turn to Pernod, Suntory and their other competitors.

Appalling company to deal with

Very poor service. Took my order and my money, then cancelled and told me it would be a fortnight until I received my money back. Won't ever use again. Disgusting.

You made a mistake, you took my money and then canceled the order and told me to wait 10 days to see my money back...then have the cheek to offer the product at full price with 10% discount. No, thank you. Keep your 10%, I'll keep my 5 stars.

Apprently this outfit is part of Diageo, you know the company worth billions.
Advertises an item at half price (not an unreasonable sale price - it was in their offers section after all) and then when everyone buys it for Fathers Day etc, suddenly decides it was a misprice and all orders are cancelled. However as an additional kicker you can have it at a new higher price or wait up to 10 days to get your money back. Bait and Switch? possibly, but being part of Diageo I am truly shocked, the goodwill lost will cost them.

Classic bait and switch. Competitively priced offer advertised. Once money taken they emailed to advise I need to pay almost double! No thanks! But they'll refund at their leisure (10 days). Buyer beware on this site malts.com .

Cancelled my order but keeping my money for 10 days.

Ordered a bottle of whisky early in the morning to receive an email at evening that they f****d up and cancelled my order. Money was taken from my card straight away but have to wait 10 days to get them back. Dodgy practice. I will avoid in future and won't recommend.

Bought two bottles of Oban for Fathers…

Bought two bottles of Oban for Fathers day only to have it cancelled (due to an apparent misprice) and be told I have to wait up to 10 working days for a refund but I can buy at nearly twice the price, whilst still awaiting a refund! No thanks, I'll go to a reputable retailer who honours orders once money has been taken.
