Mambo promoted free shipping and then charged double

On 4th April I placed an initial order with Mambo for a single item and was then presented with the message "spend another $7 to unlock free shipping". This convinced me to add an additional item to my cart at a cost of $10.00 which prompted another message saying "You've unlocked free shipping". I proceeded to the checkout only to realise that instead of free shipping I was going to be charged twice the cost. I tried to return to the shop to remove the additional item but instead the order was placed. I immediately emailed the Mambo contact address to cancel the order, followed up with emails on the 5th, 7th and 8th also asking to cancel the order and have now been told that the order can not be cancelled because it has already been processed.
Update - the Mambo customer service team have reached out to me to clarify the situation and, while they were unable to cancel the order, they have acted in good faith to remove shipping costs. The communication from the team was at all times professional and understanding of my position. Very much appreciated and a positive reflection of the company.

Mambo is dead

Where to begin?! Firstly, I've worn Mambo since the late 80s, so I'm not new to this.

Last November (pay attention to the timing) I ordered a t-shirt and poster from their online store. Some months prior, I purchased a t-shirt at a pop-up event and found the sizing to be very relaxed and oversized - no problem - I studied the copy on the site and paid attention to the measurements they gave for each size.

In mid-December the poster arrived, no sign of the t-shirt. The poster was a low-resolution, pixilated mess - like someone had tried to print a low-res web image at A3 size.

Then at the end of December, the t-shirt arrived. And to add insult to injury, the t-shirt print was warped and clearly had zero quality control before being shipped (see a pattern here) and the sizing was way off. It was a regular-slim cut and not even close to the dimensions that the website gave for that size.

Meanwhile, efforts to contact customer service went for weeks at a time before reply or between reply.

I asked customer service to replace the damaged items, and also asked to confirm the t-shirt style and sizing - if the type of t-shirt I received is now the stock they were using, please send me an XL. If the t-shirt was actually supposed to be the over-sized style advertised on the site, to send me a L. You would also hope they would update the site to avoid other customers buying the wrong size..

Well, it's Jan 20th(!) and I have received my replacements almost 2 months after first ordering. And they have sent me the regular-slim style L which means I cannot wear the replacement...

The founders of Mambo would be ashamed of this level of incompetence and poor-quality product.

I'd advise you avoid this brand. Mambo is dead.

great quality product, good sizing, quick delivery. i bought my brother a mambo t-shirt 30 years ago which unbelievably he still wears! He says the latest gift is really good quality too and nice design, hopefully it'll last as long!

My grandson is very happy with his shirts.
I did not realise that they would be posted from UK when I ordered them from Australia to be sent to New Zealand. I did think the cost of postage was outrageous, my question is why!
