Really bad. Random charges if you don't frequently use your credit card with no correspondence, can't log into account due to only being able to have 2 devices registered. A card I haven't used (as it... See more

Credit Card Payment …
I made a duplicate payment on my credit card bill. Realising my mistake I straight away rang M&S and requested the duplicate payment be returned to my bank account. Over 2 weeks and 3 phone calls to M&S later, I’m still waiting for the money to be transferred back to my bank, no explanation just promises that it will be done!

The same terminal before she recognised me and said i will do that.
It seems that you are following bhs and debenhams. very poor all round.
Terrible experience
due to having to take a job with a reduced wage I requested a payment plan. So instead of paying £103.77 I could only afford £50. After several calls of explaining going through my income and expenditure being told I was spending too much on food and personal care they decided to put me on a 2 month payment break. Anyone who is in financial difficulty doesn’t need a payment break it’s irresponsible of M&S to do that to someone as it then put me in arrears which I couldn’t pay back in one go. Repeated phone calls of not being listened tonight as well of spoke to a brick wall would have got more of a response. My other loans accepted a payment plan straight away of £50 but not M&S they couldn’t care less if I had enough money to live on just as long as they get the repayment.
Will never use this company again customer service is terrible
Why o why in this advanced age do i not…
Why o why in this advanced age do i not see a payment made to my account for 2 days????
Yet, when I have to contact M & S bank in panic, they tell me not to worry, we have received it......
WELL, maybe let me know, rather than allow me to think that something has gone wrong!!!!!!
Get it sorted......It's only money after all!!!!!!!!
Had a M&S rewards credit card for many…
Had a M&S rewards credit card for many many years, just had my credit limit reduced by half, I pay my balance every month, and always have, I’ve never missed or had a late payment, I earn quite a lot of points, I have an excellent credit rating with Experian, ( score 993 ) I called customer service, they said it was reduced to make sure I don’t spend more than I can afford, I spend more than the new limit they have given me some months, as I pay for everything with the credit card, and they said they’re also concerned about my credit rating, couldn’t answer, when I asked how I could improve an excellent credit score, they couldn’t answer, I think they’re more concerned about the amount of rewards I earn, look elsewhere if you want a good rewards card and good customer service, unfortunately M&S don’t provide either anymore.
Easy question but no answer
Rang customer services to ask if marks and spencer bank ever send text messages asking a customer to call them as had received such a text and was concerned was a scam. Couldn't give me a straight answer.
Dreadful customer service
Like other reviews, my customer service experience is appalling. Cannot speak to a human being about a scam transaction which has resulted in a loss of £400. I am repeatedly asked to complete forms and provide the same information with what feels like a veiled threat that if I don't they will close the case. 3 times now I have submitted information to support my case. I could cry from frustration and the injustice. First Direct all the way from now - where you get to speak to a person.
If I could score them as zero
If I could score them as zero, I would.
Awful customer service if you have a problem that requires them to refund you. In my case, they have been extremely unhelpful, hostile and aggressive- deliberately drawing out the process to make it as difficult as possible. Avoid.
Looking at numerous other damning reviews, M&S shouldn't be in banking and should stick to selling clothes and food.
been with m&s bank for years then they…
been with m&s bank for years then they stopped all current accounts. still have savings account and credit and sparks. Had doubts about points issued as i have sparks plus which should get more. received message to say i have not received due points and they will be added to current allocation fine. but trying to receive them on line instead of paper I need to download the banking app. aha! here is the big issue. it won’t load and I have been locked out BUT I can still log in on pc. The app obviously has issues that need looked at. I do not wish to do banking on phone for security purposes but happy to work with my secure laptop. really rubbish and a load of hassle. time will tell if it is all worth it
Check the limited range of notes that M&S will buy back
We got money for Chile from M&S and returned the notes we had left, but M&S would not accept the smaller notes each worth about a pound. They pointed out that the (very small) print on the back of the exchange slip said they would only accept back the denominations they sell, but nowhere do they tell you what these are.
Be careful to check what M&S take back as we would have lost a few pounds worth of currency, which we could have spent at the airport if we had known the rules.
Fortunately another well known high street exchange bureau was happy to take these notes, so we did not lose out and we know who we could go to next time.
Woeful ineptitude .
Avoid, admin nightmare.
Putting aside the antiquated UI and this embarrassing miserable trend of using instant messaging to communicate.
I had a simple query, instant messaging directed me to call. 12 minutes of hold time to speak to a human.
Which further frustrates the issue as neither of us share a common language.
If I could put a zero I would
If I could put a zero I would. Terrible service, can't sort a simple problem out and never ever ring back or get back with any solution. Been waiting 6 weeks since I brought up a problem and no one seems capable of sorting it. I'll be leaving as soon as possible - lets down the M&S name
Absolutely trash service
Like many others I wish I'd read the reviews here first. Applied on 16th November and still not got a card as of 25th January. Awful, non existent communication, if you ring them up they can't tell you anything. Don't bother and save yourself a hard search on your record.
This isn't just a dire bank, this is a dire M&S...
Spent most the day attempting to pay off a balance on an M&S credit card. Automated service is overbearing, obstructive and terrible, then when you do speak to someone they either don't know or you'll get cut off. Eventually paid off the balance and closed the account. Asked about closing my account too, because this is a sham of a set-up. But no. I'd need to make another - my umpteenth - call to do so. They then offered to email me a link for me to close my account (after a heartfelt plea) and, of course, the email has not arrived. Avoid like the plague if you treasure your sanity.
M&S BANK TERRIBLE !!!! we have a card and have been struggling…
we have a card and have been struggling making payments 3 years ago we were accepted on financial support team where you put into long term payment agreement which reviewed every 6 months in the meantime we have been making voluntary payments to reduce the amount, last October we did the 6 monthly income expenditure form and was told to continue as before however they have started charging interest again after agreeing not to, we have contacted them and explained the issue they said they will credit the account back but haven't since then raised it as a complaint last December and we received a complaint reference number and since then we are receiving constant calls from debt management relating to the account at all times of the day as well as text messages
raised a further complaint regarding the harassment the calls still haven't stopped my wife is disabled and suffers with anxiety we have received calls at 7:00am in the morning when you complain the call handlers are rude and unhelpful all they say is you owe us money and then I request for the call to be transferred to the complaints team, who say someone will come back to us regarding the complaint and the calls continue from debt management. This is really affecting my wife's health I don't know what else to do.
Appalling!
Applied on 6th December...approved on 20th, got an email & signed the documents. A month on from approval (6 or 7 weeks since application) a couple of phone calls. No idea if I'll ever get the card???
I was eligible for lots of other cards through other banks. Picked the worst one possible. I don't want the card now I'd rather go elsewhere but unfortunately it'll mean another hard search on my credit file. Thanks for
nothing M & S!
I'm surprised Experian, Clear score & Credit Karma are associating themselves with M & S.
Appalling lack of service, shouldn't be taking applications or even be in the banking business! Update 27/01/24 Still nothing from them, I've emailed to cancel.
No way to contact you
When applying for a product I repeatedly stressed I am profoundly deaf and cannot use the telephone. Noticed a missed call on my mobile, googled the number and it’s M & S bank calling! I can see they’ve left a voicemail which I can’t pick up. Can’t do an online chat as I don’t have an account yet and apart from the telephone there’s no way to contact them. Clearly they don’t understand disability legislation. Thanks M & S bank for leaving me in this situation!
Applied for the card - disaster! Avoid
Applied for the card - got an email to say they were reviewing the application but this would take time and after 6 weeks called to chase progress only to be told that I needed to reapply!? Apparently a non existent email had been sent asking for more information. Not bothering as the customer service on applying is awful and does not bode well for the cards use. Not sure why M&S would associate themselves with this outfit as they are not fit for purpose. Having read the other reviews looks like a blessing in disguise - CLEARLY A CARD TO AVOID
Appalling experience with no solution…
Appalling experience with no solution despite umpteen attempts.Total lack of understanding my problem and even when eventually I did speak to a human he didn't understand either and hung up! M& S have not trained their support staff or the automated help chat about the £10 scheme per month which includes free coffees and voucher rewards. I have just emailed BBC watchdog and suggested they might be interested as they have 93%or thereabouts 1 star ratings! Why not do the same?
Truly awful customer service
Truly awful customer service. They can't understand me, I can't understand them. All I'm trying to do is make a payment for god's sake. Debit card system always down (or that's what I'm always told anyway.....).
