Just re downloaded the M&S app as it…

Just re downloaded the M&S app as it didn’t work on my phone. It still doesn’t work. I then put it on the iPad and it’s the same. There is a white page with the word Balances overlaying the actual page that you want. You can’t check balances or make a payment. Will have to pay it off as I don’t trust them to take DD on time. I will then cut this card into as many pieces as I can. Customer services are barely understandable and of no help.

Application Process for Credit Cards is Nonsense

M&S Application process is a total nonsense. They want certified copies that are difficult to get and their documentation does not help to guide you to help meet their requirements. Really, it is not worth the trouble. No other provider that I have found does this and they are underwritten by HSBC and they have a much better application process that can be completed online with no issues so why bother with M&S?

I will be cancelling my credit card…

I will be cancelling my credit card with M&S having been with them for 15+ yrs. Recently I had a disputed transaction that took them months to even BEGIN to look into. Now I wasnt expecting it to be sorted immediately but a response of some sort would have been reasonable surely. The most recent issue is an unauthorised transaction. Someone has used my card to purchase online. It is not me! I have contacted M&S who havent replied. Many times! Eventually managed to speak to someone who told me I had to pay for the transaction and I would be reimbursed after 60 days when they complete their investigation. I have queried this.... what if someone fraudulently uses my card to purchase £10,000 worth of goods, would I be expected to pay the £10,000? YES! Im told yes Id have to pay the £10,000 and they would reimburse me at a later date. Who has a spare £10,000 to pay for someone elses shopping! The whole reason I use my credit card online is because it offers me a level of protection. Clearly not! My other credit card (different bank), when I had a fraudulent transaction, put billing me for that particular amount on hold until the investigation was complete. Once complete and they could see it was not me, they wiped the transaction from my account completely. They did not expect me to pay up front for fraud!

A Big brand name does not guarantee a good experiance

Blimey, how I wish I had read the reviews before applying for a loan with M&S.

I was going to go with Tesco, as I have had a great experience with them in the past, but the comparison site quotes a rate of 6.2%APR with M&S making them the cheapest option (Just) so I thought let us give them a try, M&S being a reputable brand and all that.

Approval comes though at 8.6% and nearly £30 a month more that the advertised rate. This process also took 2 weeks, even though their email after application said we will have a decision within 5 working days. (I also had to chase them twice, one representative said they would call me back, they did not. The second representative told me he could see it had been approved, but didn’t know what the delay was.

When I called to complain about the increased APR, I was told that it was subject to change during the application process, and it can be based on several factors such as your credit score etc. My credit score is (and always has been) exemplary. They could not tell me why it had changed, nor could they tell me if anyone actually did get the advertised rate of 6.2% APR, which I am now starting to think is a very misleading and a bit of a scam.

I could of course refuse to sign the paperwork and take my business elsewhere, sadly they have now created a hard search foot print on my credit report, so going elsewhere, will have a detrimental impact on my credit score, and possibly lead to me being declined the loan with another funder.
Apparently, they will log this as a complaint and send me the info for the financial ombudsmen, but because they have done nothing wrong (False advertising aside) they will close the complaint straight away.

I will take it up with the ombudsmen, as I think this is an absolute disgrace, that they can openly advertise a rate, without being 100% transparent about what rates you are likely to get offered, before you start the application.

Take my advice, look at the Tesco reviews, and stay well away from M&S. They will not be seeing my business ever again.

App, website and direct debit payment

I've had a M&S credit card for few years now, they never seem to follow my online direct debit instruction of "please pay full monthly amount by direct debit" today is the final straw, its direct debit payment day and the debit hasn't left my bank account. App and website is so difficult to navigate and find basic info, such as what instruction do they currently have regarding my direct debit, it tells me I have a direct debit set up, but that's all, no details regarding full or minimum payment method. I never have problems with my other credit card provider. Closing my account with M&S i've had enough. Applied for another credit card elsewhere. Banking app and website not user friendly, just trying to do the most simple of tasks on there is beyond frustrating.

M&S needs to sort this!

I lost M&S card almost 10mths ago. Reported it immediately by robot chat. Since then I’ve been flipped back & forth between being told my new card will arrive then having to report it as lost again, as it didn’t . 2 weeks ago I managed to speak to a real person. After much investigation she said the robot had kept choosing the wrong option , hence no card ever posted. She promised to post card out & I’d get it in 7 days. 14 days later, no card yet.

Tried to order euros for collection…

Tried to order euros for collection next day as the rate seemed best. Got all the way to the payment page and was asked to add my date of birth for security purposes. I don’t object to that but to have a basic calendar rather than a day/month/year option like everyone else would have meant a month by month click back 60plus years! Haven’t got time or inclination to do that. Their rate wasn’t that good! Went to JL instead.

If I could rate this zero I would

If I could rate this zero I would. I applied for a loan on the 10th March, accepted on the phone straight away. Was told to expect an email to sign and return. I had received nothing after 3 days so I rang to see what was happening. Told they were very busy. I received email on 18th March, signed and returned that day. Expecting the funds in my account within 5 days. As of yesterday, 3rd April, still nothing, so I called again. Apparently my signature on the agreement wasn’t good enough! I’d had no communication regarding this at all, asked if I’d checked my emails and if I’d checked my bank!!! Seriously? So they promised to send another agreement out to me that day. That was yesterday, guess what? Nothing. Just called again for them to say I may have to wait 5 days for the email! I’m furious. Nearly 4 weeks and still nothing. I only applied with them because I work for the company. I expect better M&S

Can't access on line

Have not been able to log into my account online for a couple of years. I pay my credit card by direct debit each month automatically. I receive paper state but cannot access on line. I have tried couple of times ringing their customer service to unlock my account. Terrible! I spoke to a woman who gabbled away in gobbledegook for 5 minutes. I couldn't understand a word because of her strong foreign accent. Asked her to repeat 3 times. Wouldn't answer my que and am no further forward. I still can't log in.

Shocking online banking system

Shocking online banking system. First I couldn't register because their application process does not require all the information required to register. Then my newly set password didn't work. After resetting it, I was informed my new password isn't correct and now I have to call them yet again. Amateur hour at its best.

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE! It took 3 weeks for the documents to come through even after being told 3-5 days several times on the phone. I called the customer service team 6/7 times, and they couldn’t even get my email right so they then changed my contact preference to post without asking me which caused another delay! Eventually when the documents did come through it was approved on 19.9% APR and not the 9.9% I was told. I will not be signing that, and thanks to them I now have another hard credit search on my file and 3 weeks of time wasted chasing them! Incompetent is an understatement. I would give this 0 stars if I could.

AVOID
Applied for a loan, advised up to 5 working days for a decision.
No communication from them to me to say its late and why
I am now 17 days after application, been on the phone x3 times for updates and told it was in process each time (so at least x2 lies)

The horrible service

The most 3rd class customer service and Third World class Banking administration of M&S bank. I received email from M&S bank saying the decision of my Credit card Application will be notified to me in 5 working days. Since there was no communication from M&S bank, I called 3 times and all the customer service assistant told me they have received the Application and is in progress with the underwriters. Its more than 3 weeks now and called them up but after a brief automated message the phone call gets disconnected. A very disgusting and disgraceful Customer Service.

The M&S Bank app is useless

The M&S Bank app is useless - hardly any features - not even the most basic one to deactivate one's card

It gives you the option to chat to a useless robot that can't understand a word of English and eventually you get put through to a real person who sounds as though they are on the Moon who doesn't understand anything either.
