I’ve stayed at Marriotts for past 10 years and I will say that their employees are always upbeat & helpful. Additionally; their properties are well kept and maintained. I recently stayed at the Residence Inn in Portland Maine and in spite of some very intense weather their entrance and lobby was always clean and inviting . They did have some major renovations going on and during the week the crew was very nice and hard working to complete a total renovation of the breakfast area. They do an exemplary job in keeping customers happy in a very intense competitive industry.

Consistent quality across many locations.

So I usually stay at hiltons. I stayed at a marriott...Fairfield inn recently. A guest set his mattress on fire. Hotel was smoke and sprinkler from water filled. Should have been closed. But no money is more important too them than health. Overall marriotts have gone down hill. Franchise owners don't care. Fill the rooms! No marriott for me again
