Marriot Stay? Not this time.

We have always stayed at the Marriott. For the past 20 years whenever we need to stay somewhere we have always chosen the Marriott. Usually the experience is great. The hotel and staff are accommodating. This time though it was truly awful. We reserved a room and on the way to our stay we were notified the hotel would be closed for renovations. We were three hours into our intended trip. We received an email. To me this was poor service for so many reasons. The biggest reason of all though is no warning. It would have been better had they notified us before the trip. Also we had to stay at another hotel and it was double the price. I’m sorry to say this was truly poor service all the way around. I don’t think I will want to ever use thrm again. I would rather stay with a company who cares about their customers.

Overbooking at Sheraton Hotel

Overbooking at Sheraton Hotel, Pretoria part of the Marriott Hotel group. A reservation was made for 5 rooms, confirmation received on the app, arrival time communicated. On arrival my group of 10 were turned away as the hotel was overbooked. No attempt was made to contact me prior to arrival to arrange alternative accommodation or no member of staff offered to arrange alternative, suitable accommodation. We spoke to 2 managers both with the attitude this is my problem and not theirs. The hospitality shown by this group is dismal, on further investigation I see this has happened to other people which means this problem is not being addressed. Rather choose alternative hotels that do not overbook and turn families onto the street.

Courtyard by Marriott Exeter Hotel

Would I stay at a Marriott Hotel again? Sorry, no.
I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in Exeter, rooms were great, food very good, Bar service a bit slow but the main complaint was that they charge for Wi-Fi. I queried this as the log in was mis leading, plus one of their staff said, as a guest staying there, I get free Wi-Fi. I came to check out, I was charged. they said they always charge for Wi-Fi. they did refund me but only after a short debate.
I stop in a lot of hotels, small & large and everyone of them, the Wi-Fi is free. Even the Wi-Fi is free in McDonalds for gods sake.
I will not stay there on principle. I need Wi-fi for business but I will not pay for it in a hotel. What makes the Marriott's Wi-Fi so special?

Marriott - do better

If I could leave negative stars, I would. For a 2-star hotel, they sure do expect 5-star prices and give 0-star service. I won’t stay at a Marriot hotel ever again. Your policies are horrible and you charge entirely too much for the low-budget, low-quality amenities you offer. Do better or check yourself.

Wrong attitude at Marriott Hotel DK

This years worst hotel experience during New Year's Eve. EVERYBODY has to listen to the queen's speech at 6pm. Were you watching something else in one of the 3 TV sets almost close to each other at the Café/bar? Then you will see how the bar's supervisor puts the 3 TV sets at maximum volume, either you agree or not. The irony is that most of the guests at the hotel ARE foreigners who don't speak Danish. Most of the workers at Marriott DON'T speak danish either. This is as bad an experience as the miserable menu card.

Daylight ROBBERY!

Daylight ROBBERY! They NEVER return your 500DKK you put in depositum. They laugh and mock you on the phone saying “Yeah we’ll look into that”, while they OPENLY laugh in the background. 1 month later, no NOTHING! The CEO and his “aristocats” have no SHAME while pocketting YOUR MONEY.
