Bought a new 2025 CX 30 in Feb 25, It had an engine ticking noise when delivered. This was queried after 2 days and I was told "they all do it" At the first service Feb 26, I was told it needed a new engine? we are now waiting till end of April for a replacement engine. My advice is not to buy a Mazda with the 2.0 sky active engine. Poor quality manufacturing.

Mazda should be kicked out of New Zealand their cx5 diesel is such a piece of junk they shame Japan and all things Japanese made DO NOT BUT A MAZDA

I bought a Mazda CX-5 2.2 SkyActive Diesel in 2015.
I recently had warning signs turning on the dashboard, so I took it to my Mazda service center (which does car servicing). They plugged it into their computer. Diagnostic: you need to change the engine; it's going to cost between $12k and $20k!!! They told me I could still do short-distance trips with it.
I took it to another garage to have a second opinion.
They told me straight away that those engines are known to have issues. Diagnostic: I need to change the oil pump, the turbo, and the injectors; around $12k. And that could be just the beginning as the engine could be damaged as I drove the car (following Mazda advice).
I reached out to a dismantler to see what the car was worth. He told me that he sees a lot of these models as they have engine issues. Result: $1.4k
I did some research online and with different garages, it happens that this diesel engine is well known to have issues. In fact, some models from 2012 already had those issues.
To summarise, I bought a car $54k in 2015 that was well known to have issues and 8 years later it is worth $1.4k. Or I can pay Mazda $20k for them to fix their own mess!!!
Never going to buy a Mazda again. 🤬
