I bought a Barbour jacket listed in good condition. It arrived with a hefty customs charge to Ireland. And was expensive to begin with. The smell is unbearable, it smells like mould and I have tried every method of cleaning it but no change. It smells so much I can’t wear it. Customer service very poor. Didn’t even get a response.

The sizing is not correct. I ordered an XL (labelled an 18) coat for an over sized fit and I couldn't even pull it around myself let alone do it up. I'm usually a 14-16.
I had to pay for the return and wasn't refunded the initial delivery so I paid £8 for nothing but disappointment.

When I saw this website and read about the values of the founders I was quite excited. There were several brands on there I liked and pre-loved clothing is an excellent idea. It's great at reducing waste and overall emissions so why just the 3 stars? Well, on each of the 4 orders I placed items had to be returned due to not disclosing serious defects making the item totally unwearable. A number of holes in a Ted Baker coat, a broken clasp on an Allsaints Jacket, incorrect sizing, stains and generally poor condition on a majority of the items. I appreciate they are second hand but, it's the non disclosure that is the issue, the description of "lightly used" May show some signs of wear" are misleading. They have also re-listed the returned items that were faulty and again there is no mention of the condition. With the pre-loved market being so readily available through other sites they need to really up their game here. It's not env friendly having to return items and I won't buy from them again. On the plus, I did contact CS and on 3 occassions of the 4 were sent a pre-paid returns label. Refund processing was also super quick.

Great site, not sure why the other reviews so negative. They are second hand clothes, they arent going to be perfect. Ordered 8 items, all absolutely as described, all clean and any faults were pointed out in description and photos. Shall order again for sure.

Dispatch and shipping were fine. However, most of what I ordered wasn't the size advertised on the website. One pair of jeans was advertised size 32 and was in actually fact a 38!
Returns must be paid by the customer, which is shit. It's clearly an issue on the companies end for not documenting the sizes correctly.

Many of the reviewers seem like they have bought preloved clothing without knowing it was preloved! I've bought from this website quite a number of times, the transaction and delivery is always smooth sailing, and I always make sure I know what I'm getting ahead of time, all the details of each piece is written on the listing, so if you end up getting what you don't like, you didn't do enough research or look into the listing enough, amazing seller and will continue to give my custom!

Ordered there once, took way too long to deliver + quality was super bad and when I wanted a refund I had to pay for the thing I ordered to send it back.
(The fee was almost as much as the thing is ordered there)

I absolutely love my new denim jacket and it was a great price, but on their Facebook page they mention how they clean every item meticulously - which is incorrect! I found cigarette filters and loose tobacco in the pockets which is just a bit icky. I won't be buying from this site again.

I stumbled on the site while on the internet and I decided to check them out. Boy I was wrong about the quality of the products. I had to go check if I ordered something else. Poor quality, and seriously overpriced. What they are looking at to fix the price is the badge name of the products and not the actual worth of the products. The conditions of some of the products is unbelievable, buttons hanging by the thread, and you touch them, they just fall off. Sizing incorrect, same size on different products but they seriously are far apart in fitting. They products are old for many of them. And then there return policy says it all about the company, a broke, with an unorganised structure to cater to customers needs. I was surprised to see you have to send it back yourself without having a print out for payment to do so. Check MandM and see they way they do it. I will never go near that site again. If you like your hard earned money, stay off the name.

Wholesale buyers beware , bought 50 premium branded knitwear £400 listing says polo ralph lauren,lacoste,paul & shark oh how disappointing my order was full of basic brands like nautica , chaps, eddie bauer , the good brands i got lacoste and ralph lauren but only 13 in total the rest was either damaged or budget brands another wholesaler that sells the good stuff then palms the rubbish on wholesale buyers couldn’t get a refund because i sold one jumper and they requested that i send back the full order never again

Have placed several orders, all delivered quickly and pieces have all been good quality. Have made a return when jeans didn’t fit, which was easy enough.

I received my order of two dresses today and am really disappointed in what I had hoped would be a wonderful new source to shop for interesting secondhand clothing.

Upon receiving my package today, I discovered that a "Women's Size Small" dress that I ordered is actually a CHILDREN'S dress... NOT a Woman's dress - the measurements were entirely incorrect and this dress in particular was sized and listed incorrectly on the website. While in very good condition, it's unfortunately only wearable if you are approx. a 10-12 year old child.

In addition to needing lessons on using a measuring tape, Messina Hembry's employees need to learn the difference between VINTAGE and THRIFT. The dresses I ordered were listed as vintage but were not vintage dresses. They were THRIFTED dresses from MODERN boutiques. This wasn't a huge issue for me because, as a collector of vintage (and someone who also sells on occasion), I knew that the two dresses I purchased were modern day dresses by their brand labels and also by their zippers. BUT I DO think it's pretty awful that Messina Hembry is misrepresenting items to others that do not deal in vintage and may not know how to date items by zipper, closures and labels. I highly encourage the company's web team to study and utilize resources provided by the Vintage Fashion Guild and others in order to authenticate and CORRECTLY list its items so that they do not continue to dupe their customers. Although... considering that I was sold a child's dress with incorrect measurements, I'm not so sure that they care.

The good news is that the items are fairly cheap .... so any loss or dissatisfaction isn't too significant. Still, we all work hard for the money we bring in each month. I strongly feel companies should be respectful of that - as well as held accountable when they are not.

Item is very nice, in excellent condition. I have a couple of issues however. Quality control & postage updates. I checked my account to see if postage update was there, my account said I had no orders. Item was eventually in the country but then held in customs with substantial bill. Definitely not worth buying items from this website if you’re European, use DEPOP/VINTED instead. Quality control could be much improved as I found dried food in one pocket and a tissue in the other. Very disappointed to find the coat not clean.

My first purchase on the Messina Hembry website.
One item failed to meet my expectations, I contacted the customer service department and they issued an immediate refund for the item, after I provided photos of the fault. The other 3 items I purchased were perfectly described and with super low prices and postage. I will definitely return in the future :)

I’ve ordered twice without any issue delivery was quick and items as described. One time item was more damaged then advertised but I was offered a full refund!

I bought two vintage cardigans for the first time at this website. I am from EU, so it takes allegedly 12 days maximum. Without tracking number is hard to know where it is, maybe it's stuck in customs. but who knows? I think it's a no brainer that international orders should always have a tracking number. And also, it would be wise to add a note (after or before I don't care) that it might be delayed by customs, etc. They would save the time that they spend answering mails and probably half of the bad reviews here for the money that they don't spend in postage.
