Avoid MG at all costs. They profess greatness and assure you that you are in good hands when you buy the car, but when the car goes wrong and trust me it will, they try every trick in the book to avoid repairs under the warranty.

False claims

They will gladly send an email claiming that your new car is part of a new batch with no issues.

After 10 minutes of driving. It's evident it's an old batch that still has the issue I specifically asked them to confirm would not be present.

Numb hands from a vibrating steering wheel is not a "feature" it's a hazard.

They back up information that is important for a Mobility Car

Hi we have been in touch with MG HYDE/Stoneacre for a couple of months about a Mobility car.
The service has been nothing but First class.
Especially Westley who guided ourselves the whole process.
I don't think we could of been with another Company
and got this. So a big Thank you to everyone who made
This all possible. Mr and Mrs Nixon

Stay Away from the MG4

Stay Away from the MG4 – Constant Problems and Regrets!

If you’re even thinking about buying an MG4, let me save you the trouble: DON’T. My experience with this car has been an absolute nightmare from day one, and I regret the purchase every single time I get behind the wheel.

The issues started immediately. We’ve had constant problems just trying to lock or start the car—it’s like the basics don’t even work. The entertainment system is a joke. It randomly goes blank, the radio turns on and off whenever it feels like it, and I’ve had to reboot the system more times than I can count. It’s incredibly frustrating, especially on longer drives where you’d expect at least the tech to function properly.

Charging has also been a complete disaster, both at home and at public stations. The car struggles with something as simple as charging, and I’ve had to deal with faulty software that should have been addressed before the car was delivered. And don’t even get me started on the MG Pilot feature—it’s terrifying. The car will suddenly slam on the brakes for no reason, making it feel like I’m constantly on the verge of an accident.

The dealership has been completely unhelpful, providing awful service and showing zero urgency to resolve these endless issues. The car has lost so much value in just over a year, and I’m stuck with an unreliable vehicle that I can’t trust.

If you’re considering the MG4, do yourself a favor—walk away. It’s not worth the headaches, frustration, or the money.

If you think the price sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

The price of the MG4 was very attractive when I was looking for my second EV in 2023. The reviews by the journalists were excellent. On paper, it ticked all the boxes for range, charging speed, safety features etc. After a 6 month wait, I was told to come and collect it from Drive MG* (* or any make they do) in Leicester. OH HOW I WISH I HAD NOT BOUGHT THE MG4! My first long drive was plagued by multiple failures to charge. I was familiar with public charging, having owned an EV for 5 years. This was terribly hit and miss, and not a lot better when charging at home. I had to have several lengthy sessions back in Leicester to get this fixed; the car was delivered with faulty software and, apparently, the pre delivery checks don't cover this, but at least this was eventually fixed. Over the next year I managed to live with the terrible software and the the MG pilot feature, worst of which is sudden, inappropriate automatic application of the brakes. Last week I went to drive the car and none of the electrics worked, I had to use a nasty little key they provide to get in (you have to dismantle the door handle to use it.) This was a waste of time, the 12V battery had failed catastrophically after 18 month. The AA man said this was common. On replacing the battery, I could drive the car but with no ABS, Traction control, power steering and a host of others. A further call to the AA via MG assist put this right. Service from the dealership has been awful. I am saddled with a car which has probably halved in value in 18 months and in which I have no faith. If you are thinking of buying an MG (actually it is built by Shanghai Automotive Industries conglomerate, or something, STOP. WALK AWAY NOW!

.My MG 3 at Drive Leicester needing faults to be dealt with.

.My MG 3 at Drive Leicester has problems.
My car was due to go in to sort out the error message and the drivers side day light. This was early August.
I'm informed they only have 1 technician who services MG cars.!!
It was due to go in on Monday and to be collected and returned to.my home after the necessary repairs.

As its Friday 27th September I rang to check if was being collected on Monday to have the faults sorted. I first rang to check at 1.15pm today and again at 4.15pm to try to get a definite answer

The second time I.rang 1was told the parts needed haven't even been ordered
They will.now let me know when the parts will arrive. So it's almost 7weeks now since the.issues were first raised with them.
I can't believe the lack.of communications or that the parts haven't been ordered.
My advice is DONT USE Drive Leicester whatever make of car you have or are thinking.of purchasing from them.
Finally all phone calls go to a central number who the try to connect you to the particular Drive site that you need to speak to. It's almost Impossible for them to get the branch.to answer

Awful company

Awful company, DO NOT BUY MG. Car two years old paint is peeling off, MG says not covered under warranty. They just want your money and sell substandard car. Take four months to make a decision.

Friendly and Professional

Darrell from East Kilbride MG was very helpful and reassuring he helped me find my new car and I am delighted with my purchase along with the service he provided. Darrell was very helpful and ever so kind enabling me to proceed with the purchase despite my issue with a family illness.
Darrell guided me through the business side of things explaining everything along the way. I was very appreciative of how everything was handled and I didn't feel pressured or rushed to make a decision - Just honest information with a supportive attitude and no big hard sale.

I would have no hesitation in highly recommending Darrell Watson at Arnold Clark MG East Kilbride

Today I contacted MG Motors regarding possible purchase of new car.
Francis picked up call from me, explained I was 77 and was looking forward to possible purchase of MG Electric car. Francis talked me through my anxieties of purchasing my first Electric car quite a move at 77.
I will probably now buy the car primarily due to his proffessionalism and empathy.
Thank you Francis and MG.

Dangerously faulty MG EV4

Took receipt of an MGEV4 last Decmber - developed a fault in first week. a CRITCIAl and highly DANGEROUS fault. The vehicle just suddenly shutsdown power leaving you to free-wheel across lanes on a motorway until a full stop. Takes several attempts to restart the car.
MG Assist and two MG dealerships have failed to solve the fault and the lease company takes no ownership. I am just stuck with a dangerous car.
Would not recommend buying an MG full stop.

Never buy an MG-

Car has had major issues not charging. Took it to local MG dealer.. unable to look at for 5 weeks!! Was told have too many broken MGs in at the moment. Supposedly fixed said issue. Now car won’t start at all. Same garage said can’t look at it for at least 2 weeks. So will have been without a working car for near 2 months… and they could nt care less.
To be fair the car is about as useful to us as a chocolate teapot at the moment… but hey ho what do you expect for something that seems to be made rushed on the cheap.
Car not at all reliable and service even worse

MG HS Exclusive brake disc problem 2 years old

My MG HS Exclusive is 2 years old with 15,000 miles on the clock . At the 2nd year service the rear brake discs are extremely corroded and grooved . Cost of repair more than £400 . Looked online and this is not an isolated case !
7 year warranty, only covers brake discs for 1 year . MG have pushed us from pillar to post as they feel it’s nothing to do with them . Customer care poor . They just want to take your money and run . Would not recommend MG or their 7 year warranty to anyone . Expected more . Will continue to fight on .

CROOKS!!!

CROOKS!!!!
My car isn’t a year old till November now this car is £350 a month and it’s had MAYJOR manufacturing issues that’s even stopped working on the motor ways plus many more - they have told us it’s not able to get booked in till the end of august… I just tried to start the car today and it won’t move the dashboard is saying there is a control fault ! Phoned MG again getting passed from pillar to post - neither Arnold Clark or MG are taking responsibility the one I got my car from has now been taken over with Arnold Clark - there telling me I’ve to sit without a car till 29th august even though it’s manufacturing faults not one but loads !! They’ve told me I have to PAY and arrange a uplift from my house to bishopbridges and they aren’t able to give me a courtesy car till 29th august but wait on the 29th I’ve to PAY DAILY for a courtesy car till they fix my car that isn’t road worthy because they have sold me a faulty car, BUT in the meantime I’ve to sit without a car till 29th now I obv have mayjor health problems one being a brain condition that mimics a brain tumour this has caused me severe stress and upset and I attend hospital DR and private health care appointments twice a week but they still says aw nothing we can do that our policy but if I was u ( this was Debbie one of the managers in the main booking office ) id just go and HIRE a car elsewhere if I want one until 29th and THEN I HAVE TO pay for there courtesy car from 29th till they fix a seat , an electrical system, and 4 other Mayjor faults - they will probably have the car for a few weeks and I HAVE to continue paying £350 for a broken car im not driving , pay DAILY for a courtesy car oh and I have to insure the courtesy car too WHEN THEY ARE THE ONES AT FAULT !!!!!! I cannot actually believe I have bought a car from these crooks !!!!

I thought Audi was bad bought 5 different cars last year alone and had to send them all back because of manufacturing faults too and they were so helpful but I thought I’ll change from Audi there not reliable now and here I am not even a year later with WORSE Crooks!!!!! I even explained to “Debbie “ Audi was 5stars compared you have been so unhelpful so unapologetic, and not bothered at all to even say here is another number you could try as in head office or anything she told me Audi would have charged me too for a courtacy car and I explained they never once and I was with them for 6years and she made me out a liar!

I cannot believe the audacity of this so called company , think they can get away with this and are putting peoples lives at risk with faulty cheaply made cars ! Even when I Told them I’m going to trading standards they says they are not even bothered nothing they can do , it’s unreal !

They HAVE CARS all over the shop and telling me I cannot get a courtesy car till mines is in there shop and that’s not till the 29th even though it’s NOT STARTING BECAUSE OF THERE MANUFACTURING FAULT !

Horrific experience and I am taking this all the way ! I do not want this car anymore ! Horrible company”
