Don't bother if you don't live locally!!!

This place is a joke if you don't live local. They only have 2 shippable CPUs under $400 and neither of them are compatible with any of their motherboards that can be shipped. Makes no sense that a limited amount of items are shippable when all the components are within your location. You are losing all of your non-local, potential business simply because you won't ship all of your compatible components.

Horrible Electronics Store

Simply put, the WORST experience in buying a PC I have ever had.

The store clerk, Joseph Thon, was rude, dismissive and aggressively tried to push parts on me saying they were "the last ones they had in stock". Numerous times during our conversation, he just walked off and acted like he had better things to do with his day than discuss the purchase of a PC with me. He did not seem to have any other customers or phone calls to attend to. It felt like this was pushing me through every decision to be made. When picking out a case for the computer, Mr. Thon pointed at one and said "just take it already". I was honestly on the verge of walking out but was eager to replace my computer since it had just died that day and I work from home. It was a mistake.

Upon taking the PC home I found that the hard drive I bought was not correctly installed in order to be identified by the OS and there was less RAM than I paid for installed in the machine. Later, I discovered that the fans on my GPU were not properly set up after the PC overheated because they were set to remain off until the PC reached more than 60 degrees Celsius. The computer is still under warranty but I absolutely do not trust them enough to seek them out for any reason ever again. I would sooner see that store burned to the ground than return even for a refund.

I have since talked to several other patrons of this location. They told me they experienced similar dismissive attitudes and felt rushed buying other products (headphones, etc) from employees at this Micro Center.

The Micro Center at 1957 E. Joppa Road in Parkville, Maryland seems to operate like a shady used car salesman. They know they have something you want and they take pride in abusing their customer base through underhanded and aggressive salesmanship. One star is frankly too many for this terrible establishment. Potential buyer BEWARE!

Laptop Repair

I brought a laptop in for repair, as directed by the manufacturer. I was told there was nothing wrong with the laptop. When I was requesting that they follow a procedure to replicate the problem, the employee became ignorant and rude to me. I have spent a lot of money at Microcenter. They obviously don't want my business anymore.

Went into a couple of their stores. Always fun to browse what they have. So many tech items. Lot of fun.

Bought a prebuilt PC from them since video cards were out of stock. They only had an open box prebuilt so i took that. After a week of using it i noticed it kept turning off randomly so i brought it in for service. After two weeks went by I asked for an update and was told a manager would contact me, they never did. 24 days after it was checked in the called to ask my password to get into the computer. All they did was reinstall windows which didn't fix the probelm at all. I contacted them again to request to retrun it, and they told me a manager would contact me. no manager contacted me ever. Now im stuck with faulty hardware and no way of getting my money back. Great waste of $2000

Purchased a few items from the Yonkers…

Purchased a few items from the Yonkers location , a tv as well. Hired someone to install the tv and everything, meaning cost of tv and installation. Before even opening the box, the handyman noticed something as wrong. He asked if I should still mount it, all while being on the phone with customer service. I told him to go ahead, thinking it’s okay because there wasn’t a “Yellow Sticker” on the box, I’m assuming that means it’s damaged or maybe open box. He goes to mount it successfully, and upon plugging it in we see THE ENTIRE TOP OF THE SCREEN IS BROKEN. There’s a huge crack in the corner of the screen that results in the rest being damaged. I return to the store with the broken tv repackaged, to be greeted by very sluggish and off putting workers. I was directed to customer service without being offered a cart or anything (I’m carrying a 55” TV). When I got there, the tv was examined over 10 times to find out that the serial number on the tv inside the box did not even match the serial number on the box itself. They basically accused us of replacing he TV in a DAY. After paying over 700$. The other workers started being rude, the Manager ERIC started yelling at myself and my sons, and another nice manager, CHARLENE heard us and took me away and helped me with such grace and class and patience. I left satisfied because of CHARLENE, but the REST of the workers, JASON, an Asian worker and ERIC, and a black woman with Leia buns, they all need to be fired. It’s not good having two stars on the INTERNET, and then providing ONE STAR service. It’s not cool at all.

there is no better place to buy pc parts

this is my absolute favorite store, i mainly go to the BYO pc section in the back and the staff have always been very patient and kind when helping me buy parts to build a gaming pc.

i went to the paterson store with no idea what i was doing about a year and a half ago, and at this point i know more about building pc’s than most people. that's strictly due to the help of the specialists at the three micro center locations i’ve been to (queens, brooklyn, nj), who are still light years ahead of me.

the BYO staff at each of the stores i’ve visited have been equally professional, easy to talk to, and willing to spend as much time as needed to answer my questions— even going so far as to look up videos on youtube to help me better understand what they were talking about.

i usually buy the protection plans as well, and i have never had an issue going in for help with a product or trying to return something within the 15- or 30-day window.

i’ve had pickup orders placed online partially or fully refunded because of low inventory, and i know that the gpu situation is an absolute nightmare wherever you go, but i wouldn’t shop anywhere else. i’ve tried b&h and adorama in manhattan and i’ve ordered parts from newegg, but mc is in a league of its own when it comes to after-purchase customer service.

i’ll shop here any chance i can get, if for no other reason than the incredible resource that is the BYO staff.

Micro center is one of the best places…

Micro center is one of the best places to buy anything computer related, the customer service is amazing and the people who work there are going to give you the actual truth and not just marketing. A lot of people here are complaining about the repair but all of that really isn't micro center's fault-- they need to order parts from the people who made the pc which is often time consuming and the companies are terrible. Micro center is genuinely amazing, go there if you need something tech related and you will find it.

Scam when ordering for pickup.

I made the mistake of ordering a motherboard online for pickup. When I was setting it up I noticed the USB3 prongs were bent and that they sold me a used motherboard. How did I know that? When I booted it up it said the memory had been changed. This would NEVER happen to a new motherboard. Complete scam.
To be honest here in this review, they do have deals on CPUs where if you purchase it in store you get a discount, which has saved me some money.
I would say NEVER purchase one of their products online for pickup. Only do the purchase in the store.

Want products to stay on the shelf

I came to the New Jersey store on a Sunday morning to purchase 10 ubiquity G4 bullet cameras they have on the shelf. I am expanding my security for a children’s day camp. I was told by the sales person and the manager that I could only buy one camera because they did not want to run out of stock. They are more concerned with keeping their product on the shelf then selling it to the people that want to buy it. Never again will I enter one of the stores. By the way I’ve spent over $40,000 this year alone in security and IT equipment. Bye-bye Micro Center. Please look out for this post on all social media outlets!

I'm very disappointed in micro center

I'm very disappointed in micro center. One month ago I spent 2,000.00 just for a PC gaming tower. I don't understand how the CPU isn't ideal for gaming if this is a gaming computer. It is running at 96 degrees and now I have to pay hundreds to have a repair place upgrade the CPU cooler as well as apply new thermal paste. And who knows what else. This really isn't fair and they shouldn't be in business.

Several times I purchased an item…

Several times I purchased an item online, preauthorization to my credit card went through and I had an order number and all looked good, few hours later my order was canceled (either credit card issue or not in stock, this is why I pointed out my credit card was fine).

My other issue is, the length of time to ship. On several other occasions, orders placed took 7 days just to ship out! In a world where businesses ship same day or next day, this is a damn shame it takes so long.

Lastly, items may be at a store but Micro Center is not advanced enough to have stores ship items, you must pick up, if you don't live by one... err

A friend of mine asked me for a…

A friend of mine asked me for a recommendation of any store for purchase a computer and some accessories, so I recommended him Micro Center in Brooklyn, New York, and we agreed to meet up today Sunday, June 20, 2021, at 5:45 p.m. at Micro Center, located at 850 3rd Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11232. When I entered the store at 5:45 p.m., I put my hands in order to get a hand sanitizer, and a gentleman named Sam, which is a Sales Representative, took the spray and sprayed the hand sanitizer all over my body and my arms, which immediately caused me itching and an allergy in my skin. I got speechless and I asked him why he did that, and he answered me with a really bad attitude and using an aggressive tone: What do you want me to do?
Approximately 2 minutes later, another sales representative named Alex F. started chasing me and asked me to leave the store because they were about to close, not even using a polite tone or courtesy that all customers, I think to deserve at least, even when there were many customers purchasing inside the store.

Finally, my friend and I decided to leave the store without purchasing anything.

I have several years visiting Micro Center in all its different stores in New York and referring and recommending friends, however, today I felt embarrassed visiting this store. And others friends who visit this store have made comments about similar incidents or receiving treatment by the staff.

I believe that if the employees, sometimes show or represent the face of an institution or company, having some employees like these ones, are just putting an institution at risk from a company that, as I believe, depends on its customers, and also about its mission and vision.

The STL location is great

The STL location is great! I usually order my items for pickup, and there is a bit of a line, but it beats wandering through the store having to ask someone. Still, if I had the dough, I would definitely be taking a stroll around the store.

4 stars for 2 locations in GA but no locations in FL. I have friends that need you!!!

It's like Ikea but for computer nerds

Ah Micro Center. What would this world be like without you? Truly a one stop shop for all your computer needs. You cannot call yourself a computer geek if you've never been to Micro Center. In one isle you've got all the raspberry pie attachments you could dream of, in the next, you have graphics cards (ope, not right now I guess). I've never actually bought anything at Micro Center but when my friends and I play hooky from school, we always end up at Micro Center. If you have one in your area, it's worth a visit. If you don't, it's a worthy addition to a vacation.

The DIY staff at the Columbus

The DIY staff at the Columbus, Ohio location have really gone downhill. Not only was one of them using profanity, but they actually talked me out of shopping there. Too bad. I've been a loyal customer since the 80's, but not anymore. I guess I'll have to give more of my money to the Bezos monster.... really heartbreaking. I used to love that place.

Management has not yet caught up.

I went to the Micro Center in Dallas looking for a multimedia monitor. After being forced to stand around waiting for someone to call my number I told the salesman that I was looking for a 24" Multimedia Monitor with a mic and camera. He then told me that I would have to buy a completely new computer to get one. Their cheapest multimedia computer was almost a thousand dollars. He stated that they did not sell them because there was no demand for them.

I have a 5 year old Dell PC on my desk that has a mic and a camera in it. I use it for watching movies at night. The processor is too slow to use it for work during the day. I'm not sure that I buy the excuse that there is no demand for them.

I then stated to him that Micro Center must not be aware of how many kids are having to do their school work on a computer through ZOOM which would require a multimedia monitor. NO wonder Micro Center has such a negative rating. They are like a lot of companies. They stock what they think customers should want. Not what they are actually looking for.

I guess that it has not dawned on them yet that business people are doing more and more Zoom meetings that will require a multimedia monitor. A large percentage of people are now working out of their homes on a permanent basis. This will also require a multimedia monitor. If they have a clone computer they like. All they will need is a multimedia monitor to be up to date.

While I was standing around waiting to be waited on. I heard sales people tell two other customers the exact same thing about different products. I am referring to Micro not carrying something that a customer was looking for.

I ended up having to buy one off of Amazon even though I really did not want to. But I got a name brand monitor for less than $300.00.
