I left my phone at a table near the gate. I called a restaurant near the gate and they found it. They took it to lost and found. I filled out the form and added a message to my iPhone to call my spouse. In less than 24 hours, we had a call and received the form to ship my phone. Thanks so much.

Missing x website is hopeless

Missing x website is hopeless and very badly programmed. Impossible to save details of the Avanti west coast train time and date and service in the online form. I can tell from reviews that it’s a complete waste of time. Unfortunately no one answers the phone at Manchester lost property or Avanti lost property though recorded message gave me an email address. Very shoddy of Avanti towards their customers. Staff on trains are generally polite and helpful so why is this not reflected in Avanti’s customer service systems. Unfair on customers and staff

Hi Dorothy,
I am sorry to hear you had issues registering your items on missingx.com.
On Missingx.com, when registering a lost item, you have fields like destination and arrival station, departure time, and train number. In addition, there are free-text fields where you can enter more details about the specific location. Did you experience issues trying to fill out these fields?
When it comes to the phone service, this is not something that is provided by MissingX, but rather Avanti themselves. MissingX is only the software provider and I hope you understand. We will share your feedback with Avanti.

MissingX did noe find my watch and sent me a mail telling me this. However, when I contacted Hittegodskontoret in Gardermoen, they found it at once. The payment method worked ok, though.

Hi Anse,
I am sorry to hear you were not matched with your item immediately. I will investigate this case together with our client at Gardemoen and see if there are improvements that can be made.

It worked for me

I registered my item and got a call from someone from lost property at Waterloo within fifteen minutes to say it was found. Very grateful.

Save time, it’s gone for good.

This company is an utter sham and companies, such as Avanti rail, that use them are equally shoddy for having deprecated their service to such a company. I left my jacket in a 1st Class carriage. Whilst it was my fault, Avanti staff took great delight in outlining this to me when informing me I must use the third party to register a claim. So, no support from Avanti then.

After completing the lost property form I have heard nothing at all. The jacket, I suspect will be sat in a London Avanti office until it is disposed of. I thoroughly hate services that provide no service at all and MissingX.Com are an exceptional example of a parasitic business feeding off low quality businesses.

Frustrating does not do it justice.

Would be great if it worked. When rail companies handled their own lost property offices finding out whether anyone had handed in your keys that you thought you had lost on your daily commute allowed you to either retrieve them that day or the next, giving you the security of knowing where they are and access to your house and or car. Now with missing X you are left in limbo for a few weeks, not knowing whether to change the lock on your house or whether to spend a few hundred pounds on a new car key. This is a ridiculous system for commuter trains, completely inappropriate. Please ditch MissingX and give us a phone number. This is too slow and without any communication.
Reading through the reviews below, MissingX's reply to virtually all they reply to start "MissingX is a software provider" I DON@T CARE! You have written software to abstract the lost property departments from those that have lot their property, removing any communication between the two parties and severely hindering and frustrating the public! Great, you make money but you don't help anyone, very similar to arms traders saying they don't kill anyone.

Hi Ernest, thank you for your review.

We at MissingX work to reduce waiting time, simplify the communication, and increase repatriation rates.

We do not advocate not replying to lost item registrations, nor do we advocate not offering a phone number for customers to call.

I'm sorry to hear that you have not been contacted by the selected train operator.

Watford Junction is managed by London Northwestern Railway/West Midlands Railway.

I don't have any phone numbers on my end but you can try to contact LostProperty@wmtrains.co.uk including your reference number.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Philip, thank you for your review.

We at MissingX don't handle the items, so we won't be contacting you about your lost property. The lost property is, in fact, handled by Transpennine Express. Their staff members use MissingX to register found items and handle lost item registrations from their customers.

It sounds like the registration process on our website worked well, but that TPE has not yet contacted you. You'll need to direct your complaint at TPE and not at MissingX.

Thank you for your understanding.

Great website, inefficient people

I lost a phone in Oslo Airport, and thankfully it was found. No one contacted me to tell me it was found, I just had to keep calling day after day. Not even an email advising me.
Then when they confirmed it was my phone, after 1 week no further communication at all from them. I called agin and they said they were busy!
It seems that the website is good, but the people are quite inefficient and disorganised.

Hi Andrew, thank you for your kind words about our website! That's actually the only thing MissingX is responsible for here. The lost property office at Oslo Airport Gardermoen is operated by ISS Facility Services. They are the ones that are handling the found items and processing the registrations from MissingX (as well as phone calls). Thank you for your understanding.

Hi John, thank you for your second review. MissingX is indeed a software solution provider, same as Microsoft is a software solution provider for sending and receiving email. If the recipient chooses not to reply, it's not the fault of the software solution that enables the digital communication between the two parties. I can confirm that the registration you submitted 21st of February reached the lost property office at Heathrow Airport. Anything beyond this should be directed towards the lost property office operator. Thank you for your understanding.

Remember human contact, remember speaking to someone and claiming a lost item? If you ever lose anything ever again and you are directed to MissingX, sigh and consider the item gone forever! This facility is a joke, utter waste of time and 100% proof the world has gone mad!!

Useless

This method of finding a lost item is useless. It never matches a search. You can write whatever you want in the serach box and never reveals a positive search. Fraud.

Left an item on a plane at Heathrow…

Left an item on a plane at Heathrow following a BA flight, a kindle in a purple leather case.
Realised immediately so went to BA lost property.
Given guidelines to follow to track my item.
Identified item the next day, claimed item, reference number given, will be returned once ownership verified allow 48 hours.
Well eleven days have now passed....
I have tried contacting Missingx and BA multiple
times, in various ways.
Impossible to connect or deal with, they just do not respond. Phone lines are unmanned claiming staff shortages.
I agree with other reviewers that it is a complete waste of time and a non existent service.....whatever you have left or lost write it off.

In September 2022 I left my laptop at Oslo airport. I have selected an option to get my laptop back by shipment of UPS and it was supposed to be done with missingX. Unfortunately the laptop never arrived, then after months of calls and emails with UPS they sent only 100 EUR of money back to the sender (which is missing X). However, although I have sent many emails over months to missing X, I never got even that little money back that UPS sent to them.

Now I have accepted that I got scammed and I will never see my laptop or any money of reimbursement back, I also got a lot ow issues because laptop property of a company I worked for. Hence I am just writing in hope someone will be informed that there is a scam involved and hopefully people will be informed.

Note: I have seen the reply, but the issue still is that I never received even those 100 EUR from you (shipment cost and that little 13 EUR reimbursement), as UPS sent it to you (missing x) and I have sent many emails. Although the situation of you didnt enter value on invoice makes no sence, as there is no comercial value, anyway I would like to get at least the shipong cost back, that UPS have sent to you. Thank you

Hi Jelena, thank you for your review. It's unfortunate that your shipment was lost by UPS. It's also unfortunate that the claim process took such a long time. The reimbursement is in accordance with UPS' terms and conditions, which you accepted when you placed your order with us. The value you stated for the shipment when you placed your order was NOK 1.00, and UPS' liability is hence limited. Thank you for your understanding.

Useless - don’t bother

Left a bag of duty free on virgin flight. I know exactly where. Not of high value but wanted it back as presents for friends. Missing x don’t even return a search result online for ‘bag’. Calls are not to a free phone number and you just sit on hold. Gave up after 45 mins. As others have said, leave something on a flight or at Heathrow then consider it lost forever. This company might as well be a scam.

Useless.

It's shocking how useless this company is. I lost my backpack at Preston station on April 3rd on my way home to Glasgow. The only contact number for the station was actually an Avanti West Coast number who provided a number for 'lost and found' at Preston. I called and got an automated message to go to this website and see if an item matching the description had been registered, which there had been. Woo! Great!.....lol nope. Put in my claim, received a confirmation email and then NOTHING. No contact info provided and no timescales. 10 days later and I still have not received any form of communication from them. It's a 3.5 hour train journey to Preston and it was impossible to get in contact with a human being because they rely on this company. Thankfully I have a wonderful friend who loves a scenic ride who had time to go there for me today and claim by backpack. Train companies that travel nationwide really need to reconsider using a service that provides zero communication options. They were quick to register the item but no follow up. I can't stress enough how terrible this "service" is.
