Applying for a loan and you are self employer or sole trader?

Very disappointed with my experience with MoneyMe.

I made multiple calls to advise the application process did not correctly fit my circumstances as a sole trader, however staff repeatedly advised they “don’t really look at that anyway” and mainly use bank statements.

The system only allowed one bank account to be connected, which didn’t even include my savings account or fully reflect my financial position. The online application also appears designed only for wage earners and does not properly assess sole trader income. When I called about this, I was told I would be sent the correct form — only to receive the exact same link again.

What’s most frustrating is I already have an existing loan that is years ahead in repayments, clearly showing I can manage financial commitments and service the much smaller amount applied for. Instead of properly assessing the application, it feels like the process was automated without consideration of actual circumstances, or asking if I had additional documents to support my financial position.

Now I’m left with a credit enquiry impacting my credit score from what I believe was an incomplete and inaccurate assessment process. Feels like being punished twice.

Would not recommend for sole traders or self-employed applicants to apply direct, maybe different via brokers.

We had a great experience with money me. Fast service, lowest rate and money was deposited promptly which made buying our car much easier.

The payment was in our bank account within seconds. The process was streamlined and very user friendly. The response time was excellent in direct comparison to one of the competitors where almost a week down the track and they have still not approached me to assist or respond.

I was in dire need for another (working car) my super could not help me, my bank i've been with my entire life would not help me, I stumbled accross your site via google search, followed instructions. I was accepted and granted what i needed when i needed it. I was not expecting the outcome i recieved, To my delight I now can get to work and back home again without bothering family to drive me here and there. Such a huge releif this is.
