Two issues with 2017 Morgan Taylor…

Two issues with 2017 Morgan Taylor Home:
1. Subcontractors Morgan Taylor uses, specifically the roofer Diversified, installed my roof incorrectly, with leaks showing up within two years of our possession. The leaks got worse. Then a new leak appeared January 1-2 2023 over the Master BR which is the site of 8 Tesla solar panels. As expected, Morgan Taylor blamed Tesla despite an investigation showing that the original 2017 roof build was the cause and that the Tesla roof footings were dry. Then Morgan Taylor and the roofer blamed the materials used which have a 10 year warranty - close inspection show that the original roof installation was done incorrectly with moisture seeping through nails causing rust and rotting of the roof felt and roof lumber, leading to water intrusion.
The roof was completely redone by a real roofer with a new 15 year warranty - the new roofer showed us pictures of the poor work done by Morgan Taylor and Diversified Roofing who kept telling me their warranty on new builds is only 2 years.
However, a well built roof should last 10-20 years and Morgan Taylor and Diversified Roofing should stand behind their work.
2. Other issue is the gas cooktop installation by Morgan Taylor in 2017. Even though they installed a propane tank to run the cooktop, their installer did not use the propane ports but instead used natural gas ports - this caused the flame to be larger and burn the pot bottoms but more importantly their incorrect use of the wrong port causes dangerous levels of carbon monoxide which is a health hazard. We used the cooktop with the wrong nozzle until the problem was pointed out to us by a gas cooktop expert in September 2022. He found the proper propane ports were taped to the underside of the cooktop - they were available but not properly installed as Morgan Taylor left the natural gas ports on our cooktop.
As a result of Morgan Taylor‘s error, we have been poisoning ourselves for 6 years. I would ask all Morgan Taylor home owners to check their gas cooktops to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning

Morgan Taylor Homes doesn't follow their contract terms

Signed with MTH in January... they were "close" to getting the permit. It's November now and they still do not have a permit AND will not follow our contract. It is very clearly marked SEWER but they want to put in a giant seepage pit and septic in our front yard. We argued this change and their response is they can do whatever they want at their discretion.... Their argument to City of Surprise for sewer to septic was "financial hardship" but we have their builder estimate and our cost, plus what they told us the increased expense was and it's not financial hardship but smaller profit margin. In my opinion.... Bad customer service, cheap, they could care less about their customers or abiding by a contract.... buyer beware and avoid Morgan Taylor Homes.

Dean came out today!

Our contractor came out today, 04/08 and resolved our issues and fixed everything we asked Morgan Taylor to do. Dean went above and beyond and made everything right! Thank you Morgan Taylor for stepping up and getting it done!

MTH!!

Great Company. Quick and fair pricing. Their communication was great. We purchased our own piece of land and used one of their plans which eliminated a ton of headaches. Can't say enough great things about this company.

We purchased a new home on over 1 acre…

We purchased a new home on over 1 acre with Morgan Taylor. The build was completed earlier than expected and quality was terrific. They always answered our calls/emails very quickly and kept us updated on our new home at end of each week. It was exciting to see the new pictures of the house as it was progressing. I would highly recommend Morgan Taylor as your next home builder!

Worst customer service & crews

The worst construction crews and customer care I’ve ever experienced. The company is building more condos (after 10 years) in my currently rented condo of almost 6 years, they begin cursing and jack hammering outside my children’s (age 2, 6, & 8) around 5:45am and any requests I’ve made to have these things adjusted I have been told “it’s just construction life”. Apparently the life of my family who pays to live here is not important nor is my children being able to play in their room without listening to profanity or sleep before school. I get the constant run around and hand off whenever I call to talk to anyone at this company and if I speak to the crew I’m told “me habla no espanol lady, haha” or “I’ll call the cops on you if you interrupt us” or “I have no idea who my supervisor is”, etc. It has been the worst year having them here trashing our condos and treated the residence like garbage, my kids are so tired and miserable, seriously the absolute worst system I have ever seen and my family works construction in California and is appalled, they don’t start construction in residential areas until 8am out of respect for families and that should be standard for all companies in residential areas. The company however takes none of it seriously and has complete disregard for people’s homes.

Hi Jenna,

We appreciate your feedback and have reported and investigated your claims with our team and subcontractors.
We would however like to point out some information for you and anyone reading this review.

Morgan Taylor Homes is not affiliated with the original development of these condo units, but took over the completion of the project last year, after it had been abandoned in 2008. We are following the rules and regulations established by the City of Phoenix, which has a residential construction start time of 6:00am due to the extreme heat we experience in the Valley. The health and safety of the construction crews is of utmost importance to us, especially during the summer months.

We are aware that we are working in areas of close proximity to others, and diligently work with our outside vendors to communicate our expectations of acceptable behavior. Therefore we are in constant contact with the community’s H.O.A. to proactively handle any foreseeable issues. Unfortunately construction can be unpredictable and not all situations can be easily prevented.

We will keep working with the H.O.A., subcontractors, and our team to keep improving the environment created through construction.

Love our home

We're two weeks away from moving into our home. The process has been really smooth. Cindy communicated with us the whole time and our superintendent Gabe was amazing. The few times there were issues, he addressed them in a timely manner. Julie and Sarah were so kind and helpful. We loved being involved in picking our finishes at the design center and everything turned out great. So excited to look out of the family room at our breathtaking views and can't thank Morgan Taylor enough for the pleasant experience.

Absolutely Horrible Builder

Absolutely Horrible Builder! We signed a contract with Morgan Taylor Homes to build a house and after 3 months they sent us an email saying that the price was increasing by 35,000 dollars because they failed to meet the HOA requirements. Stay far far away from this builder!!!

Jessica, we're sorry you feel this way. We never want a buyer to have a bad experience. We value the reputation we’ve built through trust, transparency, and building quality homes for our clients. However, we were forthright with you from the start. This was a custom home requiring HOA approval. We explained that the HOA may require additional modifications to the floor plan that may cause the price to increase. This was disclosed to you upfront both with our sales agent and very clearly in your contract. We kept you informed the entire time while we attempted to get HOA approval on your behalf. Despite being under no obligation to do so based our agreement, we refunded all money we received from you. We made no money on this transaction.
