How this company uses Trustpilot
See how their reviews and ratings are sourced, scored, and moderated.
I purchased a score at full price because I was careful not to subscribe to the annual plan. After trying to view my score, i somehow accidentally subscribed to a pro+ membership. It says on the emailed receipt that they'll charge me after 7 days but the charge was already taken off my the card immediately. Not to mention, i still cant find/access the score I paid for. It will charge any card thats saved in your Google account without your permission. The refund request form obviously doesnt work so I emailed them and they said to fill out the email request form. I told them it didnt work, but they havent responded. Im going to report them to the BBB and my bank and wherever else I find that might be helpful if i dont get a refund by tomorrow, and will update this review accordingly. I hope that more people check trustpilot before doing anything on that site. Its perfectly set up to scam people and nothing more. They respond to trust pilot reviews to make them look like they care to the public but they don't respond to my email or message in their online chat. What a shame.

Can't give no stars - same as everyone else, bought one score and ended up with a Subscription I didn't agree to, Customer Service is awful and still trying to get a refund after nearly a month, they just ignore everything - VON ARTISTS

I cannot reverse charges or cancel a subscription I have no recollection of agreeing to. I need immediate help.

Horrible service!! I purchased one music sheet, and in a week or two, they sent me: congrats, you're subscribed for three months!
I didn't agree to any subscriptions! They just saved my card!

This review applies to the website, not the notation app which is excellent . The sheet music website is best avoided as it make it difficult to cancel, particularly if you let your credit card expire. You cannot delete your credit card as they insist you keep one as default. Also, never buy official scores from the website- the cost on top of the Pro subscription is more than buying from any music publisher, and normally you can’t download it to the app or print it!!

Don't give them your money!
Wanted to buy some sheet music. When I got to checkout, I noticed the amount was $0.00 instead of the$1.15 the music should have cost.
When I read the fine print, it turns out I was actually signing up for a subscription with $0 for the first week but then $50 for three months automatically taken out of your account!

Predatory service. I purchased a score for 0.99 and ended up with a subscription for 44.99 a month. I tried cancelling immediately, I hope it works.

I paid for one song at £2.49 and I was unknowingly subscribed, unfortunately it was 3 months before I realised and was charged £149.97! It’s a complete scam avoid at all costs!

SCAM!!
How I wish I had read other reviews before buying some piano scores from them (which were fine in themselves). Like many others I have somehow been signed up for a "premium service", which has deducted £105 from my bank account in the last five months. Currently going through the process of trying to get a refund and realising there are many people in the same situation.
ADDENDUM: Musescore's response below suggests a misunderstanding that they are looking to rectify. This is not the case - I would strongly urge potential customers to read about the experience of so many others. The website is set up as a subscription trap BY DESIGN. It cannot be a coincidence that such a large number of people have "signed up" to services they had no intention of using. I follow a principle of never signing up to services that require regular payment, and I still ended up being an unwilling / unwitting "Premium" customer without realising for five months.
As further background, I have copied this reference from Wikipedia:
MuseScore.com has received criticism from some users regarding its subscription and billing practices. Some commentators have described the website’s subscription flow as an example of so-called "dark patterns", referring to interface designs that may encourage users to agree to recurring payments without fully understanding the terms.[109] The company states that subscription terms and automatic renewal conditions are disclosed during checkout.

Impossible to get a reply from Musescore support. Emailed them several times over the last couple of weeks and not one reply back from them.

I didn't realise I'd signed up for a subscription as the app is very confusing . However it was dealt with quickly and I was refunded immediately by contacting customer service . Thank you

Absolutely shocking company! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! I bought one piece of sheet music and was automatically signed up to an ongoing subscription with the first instalment of £44.99 and then a further £59.99. The terms of this subscription was only set out in the T&Cs small print and was not advertised in a concise, prominent and clear manner. This is unfair and misleading and under UK law is unfair commercial practice. With the way other customers have reported similar issues, this suggests continued poor compliance with transparency requirements. I went through PayPal to purchase the sheet music but they failed to protect my transactions in this instance. I will have to go to the Competition and Markets Authority and Trading Standards to escalate my case. DON’T GET SCAMMED by these people! Stay away.

Con service. They raise the price dramatically, add on extras you don't want, extract payment without notification, then REFUSE TO REFUND. An absolute disgrace. I wish I had never subscribed. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

On Dec. 8th, 2025, I set up and paid for the so called account for the " annual subscription " in the amount of $ 39.99.
The next day, I was unable to log into my alleged account or use their service. However I was also charged 39.99 two more times ( 2 x 39.99 =79.98 ) which I was not aware that Musescore was invoicing me and nor did I approve the two extra charges. Eight emails later to Musescore and nothing is happening from their end. I have contacted Visa and disputing the charges.

Absolute bandits.
Stupidly ordered a piece of music for 99p and found myself signed up for a premium subscription losing £44 this month. Go round and round in circles trying to cancel subscription...still not sure it has worked.

MuseScore has played a huge part in my development as a composer. However, the paywalls are just becoming too much for many people, myself included, to continue benefiting from the website. The app itself is still beyond brilliant, but its sad to see the website loose its more personal and community-lead atmosphere.

I was deceived into signing up for a subscription after purchasing a $1.49 downloadable score. Then I saw review after review complaining of the same thing - with no sane way to cancel. I just closed my credit card down to cut down on the headache and thievery that is musescore.com

Do not visit this site. I bought a musical score and was automatically signed up for a free trial for Premium membership. Now, I'm not a luddite and yet I had no idea that I was being signed up for a free trial so my belief is they sneak it in. The email about the free trial went to my junk mail so I still had no notion I was signed up and then when the 7 day free trial elapsed, MuseScore started charging me £49.99 for a service I have absolutely no wish to be a part of. It's then much harder than it should have been to cancel it. I have applied for a refund and if I get it I shall amend the star rating on this review but for now I'm leaving this as a huge warning to be vigilant because I feel like they've conned me at best and stolen at worst!
