My car was in a crash and deemed a total loss by the insurers. They did their standard book valuations which undervalued my car by about 30%. My car was one of only about 100 in the country so there was not enough data for book valuations to be accurate. Thorough research and a report by Jim Parkes convinced my insurer of the car's true pre-crash value. Without Jim's report, I would have been about £3,500 out of pocket from a crash that was the other driver's fault. My insurer even agreed to pay for the cost of the report, but even if they hadn't, it would have been well worth it. I am very grateful to My Car Inspections.
It is also worth noting that I tried other companies before I found My Car Inspections. The other companies' responses, (if they even responded at all), were poor, unhelpful and one was even rude.

Jim inspected a car or two for me some years ago, and again in recent weeks. Each time, Alan dealt with some communication. I couldn't have asked more from the service.
Professional, Polite and Personal - Sensitive to the circumstances of both the potential buyer and seller.
Prompt and proactive, yet polite and patient.
Clear and thorough written and photographic report, plus very generous time spent in ensuring I understood any possible implications.
I have carried forward learning points from Jim's feedback in previous inspections, and will do so again after this one.
I felt that the report was balanced, honest and transparent - nothing overlooked, nor any exaggeration of defects. In the most recent inspection, a few significant issues were flagged up which would not otherwise have been picked up on.
Jim was also perceptive to my current vehicle needs/wishes, and factored those in to his feedback, without unduly swaying my decisions in any direction. Thank you very much. Very grateful. Highly recommended.

About to buy classic vehicle and requested a pre purchase inspection. The detailed report highlighted anomalies and other areas of concern. The car transpired to be overpriced and not as described. This report saved me a lot of heart ache and money.The service is good value and I will certainly use again in my search for a classic car.

Superb experience.
My car was hit in an accident and then insurance repaired. However the repairs and service from the insurers were horrific up until the point of mycarinspections involvement. The repairing garage had only replaced the outside panels leaving the internal welds and panels damaged and covered up. Also leaving the fuse box and other key electrical components loose and unattended. If not for Jim the truth would never have been exposed as he conducted a thorough and professional inspection of my car uncovering the facts. The insurers had organised their own engineer beforehand, however he was highly unprofessional and biased. He just glanced over the car reporting back saying the car is fine apart from a minor cosmetic flaw - far from the truth.

I cannot thank you enough. The insurers went from refusing my complaints to agreeing with Jims report and paying me the total market value of my vehicle, a big thanks to Jim and mycarinspections.

I needed an expert witness report in order to commence proceedings against a vehicle dealer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
I contacted My Car Inspections and within a week (just before Christmas), the inspection was completed and a full report provided. Jim took the time to thoroughly understand the situation and provided a balanced and objective assessment; ultimately a very smooth end-to-end customer experience.

This is one of the best companies I've ever dealt with - truly amazing. Jim inspected a car for us - which failed. As well as saving us from a potential disaster, he was so generous with his time and advice. He talked us through everything, and offered really practical tips as to what to look for in other cars. Plus, he even reviewed some car ads we were looking at and shared his thoughts and recommendations. I would recommend My Car Inspections to everyone - they are incredible.

I cannot recommend this company enough and particularly Jim, who has been absolutely amazing from start to finish. Everything was explained in detail and left us in no doubt we had chosen the right person for the job.

Jim warned me prior to the inspection that the inspection may not go in our favour and he could only report on the facts and faults that he found. I appreciated his honesty and that was exactly what I wanted; this left me in no doubt that they were a company of honesty and integrity. My son had purchased a car for £30.000 plus with PCP which had major problems from day one, the car company did not want to know even though it was our rights under the Consumer Rights Act to reject the car for the major fault. Jim came to our property at the arranged time and completed a thorough check on the car and found many more faults and problems than we first thought. Jim's fully comprehensive report enabled us to reject the car through the PCP company and send it back for a full refund plus we were also refunded for the report Jim had carried out. The invoice cost should really be lot more than they are charging for it, for the work that is involved from doing the inspection through to the report which is extremely comprehensive, it is so worth it. Thanks so much once again, we can now sleep again after what has been a horrendous few weeks. If I could give Jim and the company more than five stars I would. Highly recommended.

Jim went above and beyond to help me buy a safe, reliable car in good condition. He was patient, knowledgeable and very through. His standards are high and cars are inspected with much more detail and precision than any other inspection service we have used. Both my partner and I asked Jim to look at a number of other cars prior to buying and Jim could have inspected them all, but he checked each vehicle’s history and details and saved us a lot of wasted time and money. The cars we did buy have both been reliable, safe and reasonably priced. It gives us a lot of peace of mind knowing the they have been properly inspected. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I called and spoke to Jim about my car having been written off by my insurance company, (from photo evidence of damage only). Jim gave me a lot of his time on the phone, free of charge, and so much valuable information and great advice!

Just had CAT N inspection by Jim the report was very thorough and once the report was complete Jim was available to answer my questions in quick time. The report helped me to identify issues and negotiate a reduction in the selling price, the reduction was well in excess of the charge of the report I would highly recommend and well be using again

Recently used this company to inspect a Cat C vehicle. Inspection booked for the following day. I received a call from Jim who gave me his initial assessment, followed up by a very detailed report. Jim answered my follow up enquiry very speedily. A great service and a very knowledgeable engineer. Would definitely use again 👍

Firstly, if you are going to purchase a vehicle, in my instance a car please have no hesitation in employing Jim from My Car Inspection.
I was interested in purchasing a car privately but had a few doubts. Buying a car is expensive thing to do, but if you make the wrong decision it can become even more costly.
I had previously had comprehensive conversations with Jim before employing him, at no cost. Once I had decided to to book Jim to do an inspection everything was very efficient.
In my situation I was considering buying a repaired, damaged car and he did what he called a 'pre inspection report', which I had decided to do before going the whole way of a full report.
Once Jim undertook his task, what he offered me was, experience, honesty, knowledge, thorough detail and peace of mind. At the end of the day the decision is yours whether you go ahead but if you have all the information about your purchase, it definitely makes your end goal clear.
After speaking with Jim and viewing his report, I decided to leave my purchase alone, unfortunately someone else may not employ My Car Inspection, and they may end up regretting it.

I have used My Car Inspection on 3 separate occasions & based on my experience speaking to Jim, Phil & Alan they & their support staff are 1st class & I would highly recommend them, great communication, they organised the inspection date time & venue, their at the end of the phone if you need them, great customer service. On completion of the inspection you get a detailed report with images, it told me everything I wanted to know about deciding to buy the car, I was also able to talk to Phil & Jim about anything I wanted clarity on, their knowledge & professionalism provide you with a honest, impartial & through review of the vehicle. Conclusion: I avoided buying cars that looked great on the outside but were best avoided as they would have been costly mistakes. Absolutely brilliant service that worked for me.
