Quick and painless taxes, exactly what’s needed.

After several years of experience I find the procedures quick and easy to follow.

Simple, easy to follow and complete (my return is pretty simple) I was complete in under 2 hours. Following on with past returns makes it very fast, no need to re-enter known information.

Pricing is also very reasonable.

I've been an expat for over a decade and have tried all the major expat tax preparation firms. I tried MyExpatTaxes this year, and unfortunately it was the worst of all my past experiences. Problems I ran into with their most expensive plan (Premium, prepared by tax professional):

- Their FAQ says to expect the return to be prepared in 5-7 days, but it took 37 days after submitting the questionnaire to even get a response. That response was requesting me to upload my W2, which I'd already uploaded originally.
- It then took 14 more days for the next response, which asked me to enter more details (which were already available in one of my uploaded documents).
- After contacting the main email with my concerns, I started getting drafts and responses.
- The prepared return showed a much smaller return amount than normal, because someone misentered the numbers from my forms. My return would have been about $5,000 less than it should have been (compared to the final, corrected return).
- Previous firms have told me I need to submit a specific IRS form in my situation, but MyExpatTaxes didn't want to submit it. They agreed to submit it, but only under the condition that they cannot help me with any future audits for any aspect of my return.

So nice to come back year after year with my information in place, adjusting the numbers, and knowing my return will be quickly and safely filed.

I've used the basic plan, it was very convenient in my case. It just took minutes to complete the process.

I read a ton of their reviews here and maybe this is a one off but this has been crazy. They have held onto my tax pack for over 2 months with little contact. Albeit, I had to get Premium to actually get a wee bit better response, but it has all in all been stressful. I think they have 4 people working part time in some other country. I am half joking but this is the first time not having HR Block or the like but these people are simply unprofessional which when it comes to taxes should not be the case. I don't know. Maybe a lot of this is on me but I only had to make a few corrections but they ended up holding onto my filing PASSED the extension deadline. Their chat system are a bunch of bots, I believe. Very disappointed.

Easy to use. Helpful tips on questions/fields where users may not know what to enter. I did my taxes without worrying about if it did something incorrectly.

I paid Expatfile.tax to file my taxes but the IRS would not accept my prior years AGI. Expatfile.tax left me stranded. I am out the money I spent and they didn’t file my taxes. The software is fairly easy to use. In areas where I needed assistance I used the help service and my questions were answered in less than 24 hours.

The ease of compiling was great. The support needed was available. Highly recommend and will definitely be using it each year.
