Next switch - London Power - when the time is right

Talking to a Daniel just now who was very informative and advised me to stick to my current energy supplier till the issue of the fuel prices has settled before switching over in case I missed out on any deals that might be offered by them. Thanks Daniel

5+* to James Smith at London Power…

5+* to James Smith at London Power (parent Co. - Octopus) who explained explained all my bill, the current price cap and referred me to the Martin Lewis site.
LP customer service is very good even if they do hide their telephone number away in small type on the bill.

Only negative is that when my fixed rate finished in January 2022 LP never offerred any other fixed rates. This is crucial to keeping customers. Never discussed or offerred up any rates in any phone calls since January 22.

Being a client of Octopus

I have been a client of Octopus / London Power in 2019, 2021 and now 2022, and have found it a pleasant, helpful, costwise experience.
I appreciate the attention to detail, the ability to actually TALK to a real person and 100% recommend them.
For me, they do not have to be the least expensive, just reasonable as the service and facilities they offer make them at present my favourite choice.

Spoke to Lewis just now..

Spoke to Lewis just now to get a lower priced fixed tariff starting at the end of September. Lewis was very knowledgeable about per kw hour prices and reassuring about the price going forward. I feel a lot less anxious than I was before speaking with him about the Ofgem price cap increases.

No Panic!

I had a minor, but worrying, issue about pressing the wrong button and so increasing my direct debit by 600%+ ! Phoned LP and spoke to Sophie – the call was answered quickly, she listened careful and fixed the problem while I was still talking to her. Reassuring, empowered and friendly. LP stands out like a beacon of great customer service in a stormy world of AI and “menu options”

I have had MyLondonPower as my supplier for a couple of years. They are backed by Octopus Energy. I have had to contact them a few times over the years and their email responses are always quick and they always resolve my issue. I have been with MOST of the large energy companies , as a customer , in the past and their customer service has always been hit and miss. MyLondonPower excels and is head and shoulders , in my opinion , above any other energy supplier. FANTASTIC service.

Thank you for taking your time to leave a review.

We issue tariff renewal emails with all of our current tariff options and one of our fixed tariffs is the London tree plan which is fixed for 12 months. This is the greenest plan that we offer to our customers with 100% renewable electricity, carbon offsetting if your household uses gas and will help the local environment as we will be planting trees in London on your behalf.

There are no exit fees for this plan, so if you change your mind and want to choose a different plan, you can do.
That being said, we also offer a variable rate plan which is protected by the price cap regulated by OFGEM. If you don’t do anything, you will automatically be rolled over onto this plan.

I am sorry that we have had to increase prices, it is not something that we would ever want to do. The wholesale cost of energy has increased significantly and this has had an impact on our tariffs.

I spoke with Daniel Street in London Power Customer Service Team - He was very helpful and answered all my questions concerning my billing. I believe he had my interest at heart and found the best deal for me at a good price.
I found Daniel awesome, with great customer service, knowledgeable, and with a great personality.

Outstanding service, puts other energy suppliers to shame!

I've been with London Power for a couple of years now, and have always had excellent service. I recently moved addresses and there was some issues with the gas meter not being registered and having different suppliers of gas and electricity. Aimee supported me throughout, gave me much needed reassurance when things seemed to be going awry(!), and made sure that my correct tariffs were brought over. Having had absolutely appalling experiences with energy companies previously, this is a breath of fresh air and a standard of service so that is so rare in todays world. Thank you!

Huge price hike!

I've been in credit for the whole year, the amount going up & up. Now my fixed tariff is nearly up they've informed me via a rather cursory email that my tariff is going up by almost £30 per month, approx. 2/3 rds more, from £49.96 to £78.59, with no explanation (although we all know what they'll blame), nor any apology nor reasons to stick with them. The co. was set up to provide Londoners with supposedly the best deal; it's the main reason I switched to them in the first place. There is no link to the actual unit prices either, so I've got to go hunting again online to see what's happened with each tariff, gas/electric, daily charge vs usage. As I only actually use electricity within my property (as gas heat & hot water is via a communal source) it really shouldn't be this high a monthly charge.

We issue these emails to our customers to spark a conversation regarding the renewal of their tariffs and all the information you are looking for does in fact appear in the email or via the links provided within the email.

We issued this email on the 22nd March and have not received a response from you, but you can definitely contact us privately so that we can discuss this in detail together.

As you would have seen in the news as of late we are currently in an energy crisis and unfortunately the cost of energy has increased which as a result has meant that our tariffs have also increased.

I understand that you are electricity only but unfortunately, the price increase caused by the crisis does result in these electricity prices also increasing.

Though green energy is cheaper to generate, on the market it's sold at the same, higher price of gas and other fossil fuels. That's down to the way the market's set up, this is similar to how houses are sold based on the price of neighbouring homes, rather than what it cost to build. This means that the highest price ends up setting the market price, therefore when gas prices are high, all electricity prices are too.

Staying put

Obviously the energy price hikes are bad, but I would much rather weather any energy crisis storms with a supplier I believe I can trust, like London Power/Octopus. So I'm giving a 5 star review even though I just had to switch to a more expensive tariff... I know I can leave if necessary, they make it all very clear. Plus, if you ever need to contact them, a real person responds and they are helpful. Finally, I want to stay with an ethical energy supplier.

Outstanding customer service

My fixed energy contract is currently nearing its end date and I needed some guidance
to know what my options were. I have been in contact with the customer advisor James smith and I have to say he is an asset to your company and a pleasure to deal with. He has assisted me with what plans are available and what the best option would be to suit our needs and I feel a lot better with the option we have gone for. Thank you so much for your help James.

Octopus Energy is great. They have reasonable prices, great online facilities to keep an eye on your account…. and wonderful customer service as I found out today when I needed to order a hard copy of my online bill and Sophie was there to sort me out in a trice with friendly and efficient grace.
