Love the TrainPal app. I used to use Trainline but got fed up with the ‘admin’ fees they took from refunds leaving you with virtually nothing.
The TrainPal is great for saving money via split tickets. The live train information is really handy aswell.
Definitely recommend TrainPal.

Very clear timetables. Great pricing. Easy to use. Accurate platform information. Recommended.

Just started using instead of Trainline. Unless it’s user error on my part I don’t understand why after purchase you don’t get an option to save tickets to apple wallet. Instead the outgoing journey is saved and the return isn’t.

Bog standard train ticket app, with the added bonus of a fake game when you buy a ticket. YOU CAN'T WIN, it's just a con but it is also highly irritating.

My experience with TrainPal has been excellent so far, and I hope it continues to be just as positive in the future. Even without being eligible for any of the Railcards that offer one-third discounts, I have consistently been able to find some of the most affordable train tickets available through the platform. The process of searching for trains, comparing options, and booking tickets is straightforward, user-friendly, and efficient.
One area where I believe TrainPal could become even more outstanding is in supporting passengers during their actual journeys, not just during the booking process. For many travellers, especially immigrants, tourists, first-time train users, elderly passengers, and those with limited English proficiency, navigating railway stations can sometimes be confusing and stressful. Finding the correct platform, identifying the right train, understanding station announcements, and dealing with unexpected disruptions can be challenging.
For example, on one journey I was travelling with a friend and her baby in a stroller. Due to a delay on the first train, we missed our connecting service. During the disruption, it was difficult to quickly determine the best alternative route and locate the correct platform in time. Situations like this can be particularly overwhelming for passengers travelling with children, heavy luggage, mobility aids, or those unfamiliar with the UK railway system.
I would love to see TrainPal introduce more journey-assistance features, such as:
• Real-time platform guidance with clearer notifications and station maps.
• Step-by-step navigation within larger stations.
• Multi-language support for key travel information and disruption alerts.
• Guidance for passengers making connections, including warnings when delays may cause missed trains.
• More accessible information for families with strollers, disabled passengers, tourists, and newcomers to the UK.
• Visual guides and simple explanations of common railway terminology and procedures.
If TrainPal could combine its already excellent ticket-booking service with enhanced travel assistance and accessibility features, it would become one of the most complete and user-friendly railway travel platforms available. Such improvements would not only benefit existing users but also make train travel far more accessible and less intimidating for people who are still learning the language or adapting to the UK transport system.

I had a frustrating and timing consuming experience trying to get support and clarity from TrainPal regarding disrupted journeys.
I had two separate bookings affected by delays and cancellations. Initially I received different explanations for why my refund requests were unsuccessful, including a technical issue message, then being told the train had not been cancelled, and later being told the ticket conditions did not allow a refund.
My return ticket, TrainPal eventually confirmed the train was delayed by more than 15 minutes but still refused to refund it even though I told them I haven’t used it.
The most frustrating part was not only the outcome, but the inconsistent information and having to send multiple follow-ups without getting a clear explanation. Also, my case has been dealt by several people despite them telling it was escalated but only customer service staff replied to me not the complaint department.
Previously I booked with the trainline and the refund process was straight forward and I could do it on the app.
The train ticket was for the 26th of May and today it is the 18th of June and Trainpal still did not solve my problem.
I HAVE SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT ON THE LINK YOU SENT ME. THERE WAS NO OPTION TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED BUT I HOPE YOU LOOK INTO THE BOOKING REFERENCE AND WILL SEE THAT ALL TRINS CANCELLED
TODAY IT 20/06/2026
I GOT THIS ANSWER OBVIOUSLY WASTING MY TIME ASKING ME TO CONTACT YOU VIA THE LINK
Dear Hocine,
Thank you for contacting TrainPal.
After checking booking 1134745416000792, we were unable to find any record of a train cancellation, strike, or a delay of more than 15 minutes at the departure station for the trains on this order.
According to the ticket fare conditions, this booking is non-refundable from the departure day onward, so we are unfortunately unable to offer a refund at this time.
If you believe there was a cancellation or delay affecting your journey, we recommend contacting the relevant train operator directly to check whether you may be eligible for compensation.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.
Best Regards,
James
YOU JUST PUT THAT LINK TO SHOW THAT YOU CARE BUT YOU DO NOT CARE AT ALL THIS IS NOW A MONTH SINCE I STSARTED WRITING EMAILS AND NOTHING HAPPENED

Just try and get a refund if they can't fulfil your digital railcard on their app. Absolutely scandalous. Sent about 15 emails so far with screenshots.... think I'm just hitting AI bots in the main. Have gone through bank now as they refuse to refund. ...and like I haven't tried the link in their response. Customer service is non existent.

Painful to deal with, app is jerky, refunds are almost impossible unless your dead and then you can’t claim anyway, Indian call centres who don’t have a phone number, just money grabbing greedy website sadly

Was very easy was cheaper than booking with the train operator and they don’t charge a booking fee.

In the past I have used National Rail, and then found Trainline to be cheaper, tried TrainPal a while ago but didn’t see any price advantages. However the site now offers better cheaper deals,so as a rail traveler several times a week,I’m finding TrainPal much better. 👍 😀

Tried to change a ticket for the next day, accidently booked the exact same ticket, it charged me £9.99 + the difference as the price had gone up and then added the exact same ticket to my account. It was my mistake but why is this even an option. I appealed to their understanding that I have been charged £10 and not actually received anything because it was the same journey on the same trains and was met with policy policy policy, you made the mistake not our problem. You wouldn't expect someone in person to take your money and give you back the exact same tickets would you.
Really unhelpful and rude I have now changed them correctly and paid for the second time. Once my prebooked journeys have been completed I will not be using the service again.

Easy to book and use the app. Should make it easier to get refunds though as twice my trains have been cancelled and it’s that hard to claim the refunds I gave up !
