Non existent service

We have been trying to arrange for an engineer to look at my 92 year old mother’s freezer for ten days. Each time we ring we are told we will get a call back within two days. My mother has dementia and relies on her freezer to store the frozen ready meals that her carers prepare for her. Looking at other reviews I wonder if she had been scammed through a cold call. With dementia it is hard to piece together the story but she seems to have taken out the insurance herself, certainly we haven’t arranged it for her. And the service seems non existent even though call handlers are very pleasant.

Hi Jayne,

We are very sorry to hear that your mother has not had an engineer go out as the call out time for an engineer is between 24 to 48 hours.

As I have no details of the policy holder please can you contact our customer service team so we could escalate this and we will deal with this as a matter of urgency. Please advise the customer service agent you speak to that you have been advised by myself Jordan to call in and I will also make them aware of the situation.

Many Thanks

I was sceptical initially with having taken this cover out, however I must admit that when I called to report an issue with my Hisense Fridge Freezer, they answered the phones pretty quickly and I had an engineer out within a day to come and have a look. problem seems to have been fixed now.

I would recommend their service, as any cover its always a gamble if you need it, but this time paid off for me.

This company is terrible

This company is terrible. I would advise anyone not take out insurance with this company. We tried over and over again to get through by phone and e-mail. Some one eventually got back to us after weeks of trying to be told that an engineer would be phoning to organise a date to come out...but guess what....nothing. Stay well clear of this company

Hi Dean,

I am sorry to hear that you have not had an engineer come out as expected.

our phone lines are open 10am to 6am Monday to Saturday and wait times should not be any longer than 30 seconds, all our emails are also monitored as we have a dedicated customer service team dealing with this.

Due to COVID we have had a shortage of engineers and home visits have been limited.

I cannot locate any policy with your name and it would be much appreciated if you could call our customer service team so we could resolve this as a matter of urgency.

Thank You.

Scam/fraudulent insurance cold call

This was a cold call pretending to be on behalf of Domestic and General home appliance insurence.
They said if I renewed directly with NHC I'd get a no claims discount. D & G knew nothing of this and reported details to their fraud dept, as did my bank.
The whole thing is a scam do not engage with them.

This company target the elderly!

This company target the elderly. My father with dementia was tricked into purchasing an unnecessary policy to protect home appliances. We were able to cancel the payment made. Six months later they did it again.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your time on leaving a comment.

I would like to confirm that we do not target any specific age group as our policies are available for any one over the age of 18.

once a customer cancels a policy if they wish to opt out for any future offers we will not contact them. It would be much appreciated if you could call our customer service team with your father so we can make sure he has been opted out for any future calls.

Many Thanks.

scum of the earth

these fraudulent vermin have been harassing my recently widowed elderly mother. they ring several times a week at times this has been ongoing for four years now. they try to convince her she has to pay £300 odd for cover on appliances she doesnt own. they ask for someone with a different name, they only have her phone number, the address they hold is incorrect, i asked and all they could only say "flat #" no town/city/county. her number is registered with the TPS. we have asked these scumbags time and time again to stop calling and to remove her number from their database. they are incredibly rude and unprofessional as soon as you challenge them about anything or ask them to change the details they hold. National Home Cover is a trading name of First Point Solutions Ltd. the directors name is Mark Abadi. born July 1994. criminal bunch of cowboys frauds scum of the earth.

National home cover scam

National home cover are regularly calling and harassing my elderly father to buy 3 years home cover for the price of 2 for £500! Pretending to renew existing cover and take his bank details. He has contents insurance cover for £50 for the whole year and never had cover with them and doesn't need their cover or the stress of nuisance phone calls. What a scam!

Cold called me

Cold called me, told me my policy had expired. Red flag. Asked if I'd had problems with my appliances and gave me a 35% discount when I said no. Didn't know what appliances I had so another ref flag. They told me my address and wanted bank details. Sadly the address they gave was somewhere I haven't lived for almost 20. Laughed at them and hung up.

Typical Cold Callers

Your typical cold calling type scammers who inform you that apparently you took out some 'package' or 'contract' with them for your electrical appliances.

Standard behaviour of your cold callers from pressuring services to various tactics. My simple bit of advise, give them a wide berth and put the phone down.

Saved me money

Was hesitant at first as had been with D+G for a while. Really helpful team who has saved me a great deal of money.

Your typical insurance scam.

I took out cover when they called. I explained my machine was 8 years old. £99 and 3 months later when I needed an engineer he came out and found 3 coins in the filter (he had to come out twice because the first time he spent 5 minutes and didn’t do the job properly the first time). He said it should be fine now and also stated, which was nothing to do with the mechanical fault appearing, that the bearings probably had 1-2 years left in them. When I tried it again the machine did not work so when they called back they cried accidental damage (3 coins over the course of 8 years). That is not accidental - that is using a washing machine for 8 years. There is not a coin in there every week, month or even a year. It was probably due to not wanting to pay out if my bearings went in the course of the policy. COMPLETE SCAM!!!! Will find a way to get out of doing anything if they can. Also the customer service is so defensive - they are well trained And experienced on dealing with complaints like this. Most likely why their job adverts say ‘money motivated’.

New machine

My washing machine broke down last week, when i phoned in to claim an engineer was sent out the next day. The machine was deemed 'beyond economical repair' and to my surpirse they replaced it with brand new machine 2 days later - very pleased!
